Good morning everyone
Rusty - Belated happy birthday, hope you had a wonderful day.
Shelly - so glad you came back. As somebody else said keep fighting the beast. Your walk sounds amazing.
Everyone else big hello and have a great week-end.
Am rushing this morning as am going off for the day to Northern Ireland shopping with the girls. My daughter did not go away for the week-end as her debating partner ended up in hospital so she is joining us. Was up late last night but it is good to be up and hangover free and ready to face the day ahead.
Have a great AF Saturday.

Free and Fit February - Week 2
Good morning, good morning....very snowy here with more to come...ahhh it is February and winter is back with a vengence. I kind of like the snow, it is so pure and quiet, and I don't have to drive far today so can just enjoy it.
Sped, bravo to you for coming back...it is hard after a relapse, but also so good as you have the tools in place and know what to do. Your AA group is always there for you and the walk sounded amazing. I agree with you that our bodies are always happy for healing when we make healthy choices.
Rusty, Happy Birthday, hope it was a good day. Now you are my age
Dill, I was absolutely fascintated by the Rick Hanson site and checked out one of his books and bought the other. Thanks so much for sharing the information, it is really what I need at this time. I started to think of happy times, and the practice lifted my mood immediately, and brought the realization that my focus has been on every negative thing I could manifest, hence, depressive symptoms.
Lav, you are in such a good place with all the family interaction, and I agree, if you were into the wino, your kids would not be there. The alcohol ruins everything.
Rustop, how is your WW journey going? I have to get back on that track too, as I went off it totally. No weigh in for me this week, I would just get upset. It takes time to make changes and I need more time.
There is nothing like a good cup of coffee in the morning, maybe two. I just saw on TV that my area is missing the 12 inches of snow, we will only get about 6 inches, thank goodness. It's that ole lake effect.
I have a busy Saturday, a seminar at this church I may join, then walking inside with a friend, then shopping for the week. I want to make French Onion Soup tonight, doesn't that sound good?
Dew, hope youare gaining strength, you too Papmom.
Cyn, the moon was gorgeous this week. I noticed the moon light at night too.
To all, have a great day.Formerly known as redhibiscus

G'Morning all -
Rusty - I hope in the midst of all your studies that you had a wonderful Birth-day day. What a year you've had, looking back. And it feels like it will be a wonderful year to come. I'm so grateful to know you!
Sped - thanks for the check-in, so glad to hear from you. Your 'mountaintop' experience was amazing to to hear about, I'm sure it felt elemental while you were there.
A native american Medicine Woman came to my mother's house last summer while we were working out way through the decades of accumulated stuff. We had found many native american artifacts in my father's things...no one was quite sure where they came from. Mom could have sold the whole lot for for money which she badly needed, but there were drums and beads and buffalo horns and ceremonial robes, and I just didn't feel that it would be good karma to sell it. So my mother, having met this woman through a curious coincidence, invited her to come look at the things. She came, she had an amazing presence about her, she was so grateful that we were willing to give the things back to her Nation, she smudged the artifacts, us, the house. It was truly an experience out of the ordinary, and both Mom and I felt blessed by her visit...
OK, will watch the mama cardinal at the feeder for a few minutes more, then it's off to delve into taxes...
Wishing all a peaceful day -to the light

Cyn, thank you for the descriptions of your view of the moon. Moments like those are such a gift, and totally missed when one’s priorities are found in a bottle as opposed to say,.... the universe.
R59, do you keep your horse where you live? It sounds like maybe you keep it at a stable. If so, is it a short drive? Does the horse have a name, and what does it look like? Do you ride or just your daughters? Maybe I should already know these things, but I was out of the loop for awhile, as you know. I may have forgotten things I already knew at one time
.
Lav, we have 2-3 inches of snow on the ground from overnight and the temp is 12F. I am feeling poorly from being bombarded at work by coughing children and wheezing staff and have finally succumbed to illness. So, I will be drinking fluids and looking out the window at a beautiful landscape today. I hope the immune system kicks in to full gear. I think it is so unfair to be ill on a weekend, don’t you?
Rusty, happy birthday! You are just a wee babe compared to me. I’ll be turning the big 60 in April!! I am so happy that you have managed to whip the beast back into his cave at such a young age. You have so much time ahead to enjoy and feel proud about! I’m certainly glad you are OK after the condo fire so close by. That must have been awful.
Sped, I can’t tell you how pleased I am to see you rejoining us here. We have all missed you. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of the world from the mountains. There is so for which to be present and grateful.
SD, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I suggest that you put your application in other places that aren’t even posting positions. You never know what may come of any options you generate for yourself.
Papmom I hope you are on the mend.
Star, I am so glad the link proved helpful. It really came out of nowhere for me because before that program by John Stossel exploring the topic of “happiness” I had never heard of Rick Hanson. But I too have requested the book from my library. I find that fixing a happy memory and concentrating on it for a minute is not as easy as I had hoped and it will take practice.
LBH, I'm off to my hole-in-the-wall breakfast establishment. For some reason I think of you when I go there and I have this vague memory of you saying you were known as "deep pockets" in some similar establishment somewhere. Perhaps I dreamed this or have it confused from something, but it matters not. I still think of you and a smile comes across my face.
Sooty, Cassia, Dew,Chill, G.....
Greetings to all and happy AF Saturday!Dill

Good morning Fit Ones
Looking out at a pretty snowy scene this morning but should'nt get more than 2" or so (I hope).
Only half of my hens were brave enough to go outside this morning - chickens :H
Greetings LBH & SD!
Rustop, happy shopping with your girls!
Star, nice to hear you are interested in Rick Hanson. Can't believe I haven't mentioned him here as I've been receiving his emails & enjoying his writings for a few years. I hope everyone gets a chance to read Buddha's Brain
cyn, I usually have many cardinals at my feeders but not this year. I wonder where they have gone. Such pretty birds especially in the snow. Don't hurt yourself working on taxes I am still collecting stuff to take to the accountant. Our tax situation is confusing as hell because of pensions, etc.
Dill, you have the big 6-0 coming up in April - geez! I'm 22 months behind you.......
Hope you don't get too sick - load up on chicken soup, ZiCam, anything......
Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Saturday!

Morning Fit and Fab friends!!
Thanks for the well wishes! First Sat is a long time I don't feel ill!! Whoopee! I'm on the mend for sure and taking it very easy today. May pop out for a pedicure in the afternoon. We'll see. Just a dusting of the white stuff so far. They made such a big deal out this "storm" when it wasn't even going to be significant to begin with. I think they are bored :H.
Happy Belated Birthday Rusty!! I sure hope you were able to put down the studying for a bit and have some Rusty time. You so deserve it!!
Dill-take care of yourself and listen to Nurse Lav!
Star-sorry you're getting the bulk of the snow this year but I'm not in the least bit jealous!!
Sped-so glad you're back! If I could bottle up the feeling of waking up every morning unhung and untired and unshamed, I would send it to you so you could take a sip every nite and keep that feeling with you when the beast strikes. Your mountaintop journey sounded inspiring and transcendental!!
Cyn-where do you find these people?? you are always making the most amazing connections! How cool you were able to return the artifacts to their rightful place (although I'm show the experts on Antiques Roadshow would have gotten ill!-did you hear they are coming to Boston in April?)
Lav-chickens!! :H :H Hope you get a chance to relax today!!
Dew-hope you are feeling much better. Check in please!!
Rustop-have fun shopping!
Shoutout to LBH and SD and anyone else lurking!!New Birthday: May 8, 2010

Free and Fit February - Week 2
Ms. Dill I trust you won?t feel bad for long, you are doing so many good things your immune system is most surely all sparkly and grateful. I am glad you remember about my (Money Bags?) Saturday breakfast trips with Lord Bird Heart (Deep Pockets) and his brother (Fat Wallet). We still go every week, the shabby old diner is exactly the same, the waiters grow old along with us, only my eyes are brighter. I remember that you go out to your dear place also, some things should just be kept. Illness is not one of them, however, and I am so glad you are feeling better Pappy, what an ordeal. I loved your description of the moon, Cyn. We all share the moon. I too am curious about your horse, Rustop. I always think of lovely shaggy ponies in Ireland but know that there are the sleek jumpers flying through the fields and showing off in the ring. I love everything about horses. Hi S.D., Lav, Dew, Sooty, Sped, Star, Rusty, G., et. al. I am off to plant my seeds on the baby plant table next to the curious but usually respectful parrot. There will be tomatoes (German Pink, Mr. Stripey, Stupice, Orange Coeur de Boeuf, Amish Salad, and Cherokee Purple), peppers (Jimmy Nardelo, Buran, and Alma Paprika), and eggplant (Pingtung Long, and Rossa Bianca). The names are so funny. One year I planted beans call Lina Cisco Bird Egg. Would you not like see the woman for whom Mrs. R. O. Backhouse Daffodils were named? Love and later, Ladybird.may we be well

And here's one way feeling poorly can be a benefit: I've had energy enough to make a pot of broccoli soup and then, exhausted, sit in my chair by the fire and google the names of the tomato varieties in LBH's list. Thank you for that. And the refresher story as well. I used to show up every Satuday at our little restaurant with a hangover and very little appetite. I think of those hangovers sometimes when I go in there and feel shame and relief.
Papmom, great that you are feeling good! Treating yourself to a pedicure is a great idea. I have never had a pedicure in my whole life and I've only had my nails done professionally one time and that was for my daughter's wedding. I do believe I will set aside some of my unspent wine money and indulge in a new experience!
Lav, why on earth did you not mention Rick Hanson to us? Naughty girl!!
OK, who else has had a pedicure or does so on a regular basis? Just curious.Dill

Evening fit folks
Rusty - how was your Birthday? Any sign of David Beckham jumping out your b'day cake
(sshh....dont tell Mr G)
Speed - Good to see you check in, please stay with us.
LBH - Keep those "Bright Eyes" and happy planting.
Papmom - you sound like you got your gusto back!
Lav - I have never heard of Rick Hanson either! Just signed up for his newsletter.
Dill - Are you planning anything special for your Birthday? Maybe we could have a wee party in the chat room?
I had a busy day, up early and went into Glasgow to meet my Live Angel Maggy as well as a new member here on MWO, Stella123 who has just celebrated her 1st 30 days AF since her teens! Maggy who is supposed to be terminally ill with lung disease was looking amazing, face glowing and sporting a new fabulous pink hairdo. She really is a miracle! We had a lovely time and are like modern day muskateers when we get together.
I then went on to meet a new friend who heads up a mental health department and we had a fascinating chat about how gradually unconventional approaches to health and well being are now really being taken seriously. As you know Im passionate about this subject and it was great to here how a professionally trained academic was embracing these methods. He has lectured on the subject in Finland where they are quite forward thinking and his speciality is educating people about how they can take responsibility for their wellbeing instead of always turning to Doctors to prescribe quick fixes. Im so excited by this subject and I have a whole weekend retreat booked in March with this wonderful man on this very topic David R Hamilton PhD | Using Science to Inspire"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

Hi there Dill :hiya:
I LOVE pedicures! In my more financially abundant days they were regular occurences and were especially necessary when living in a warm climate where I spent 8 months wearing open sandals. Its wonderful it have them all clear of dry skin, soft and moisturized and with pink shiney toenails!"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

Chill- how exciting about the retreat!! Glad you had a such a fun and eventful day in Glasgow!!
I came to pedicures very late in life Dill-maybe at 50? Once I had that first one (done at my hair salon-very private and professional) I was hooked. Now I go about every 3 months or so to a nice place in a nearby town. Not private but they do a good job and remember all their clients. Can't understand a word my pedicurist says but the foot bath is warm, clean and the hot towels divine! I always get the french pedicure as it goes with everything and lasts so much longer than regular polish. Plus, if the white chips, I can touch it up with a special pen. You really must try it Dill dear-you won't be disappointed!! Just go with a reputable salon for your first time.
OH LBH-you make me miss gardening!! I just don't have the time for it anymore what with the dogs and all my activities. Maybe someday I'll return.
After the pedicure, I browsed through a new crafters shop. Gorgeous stuff and I was particularily interested in the quilted items. Beautifully done and now I have an idea of the price point. I think she has one of those special machines that do the fancy machine quilting. Hmmmmm.........
Off to bed now. Early to rise tomorrow as I have to be at the NH at 8. One hour later would make it so much more tolerable!!New Birthday: May 8, 2010
