    AF Daily~Saturday, February 25

    Greetings, Faberoonies!

Wow, busy here for a Saturday - good to see, though!
We got a sh*t load of sn*w last night! :egad: Very purdy, though... bright and sunny... and ya know what I noticed today? No? That sun is starting to pack a bit of a punch! I'm telling ya.. Spring is coming!

I am declaring myself a full blown farm girl today. First time I drove the tractor! And lived to tell about it! :H I even parked it back in the barn! All fences intact, garage door still in place and Mr. Wonderful still breathing. Total success!

    P3... :l
I actually really understand your feelings. Although my finances aren't that dire, they're not great, either. And, I certainly have not (ever) lost weight while abstaining. Rather the opposite, as I tend to not eat when I'm drinking. I also never experienced the great influx of energy. Then again... my commitment to exercise is pitiful. I think Kas makes a great point, before even stepping into the house, just do a quick spin around the block.. no doggies... just you, winding down. Perhaps I should take her advice, too.

K, folksies... got a ton of things on the schedule today and half the day is over. Darn. How does that happen?

Anyways... have a glorious, sunny and bright rest of the day.. one thing is for sure!
Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

Thanks Kas and Sunnie-I know you are both right. No reason I can't take a quick spin around the block before I get into the house, even in the dark. It's not a bad neighborhood and the college is right across the street. OK, sneaks are going in the car starting tomorrow (I'll blow away today :H).

I wish I could stop eating everything in sight! Ugh! I've got another bad headache, surprise surprise, but am hopeful about some supplements that I just ordered that are supposed to help with headaches. Should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Greetings to Marshy, Pap, Kaslo, Raven, and Sunshine! :wavin:

no, I'm not selling or endorsing that but the doctor is for real and he's studies are peer reviewed and pretty eye opening. so combine an improved diet with exercise and you're well on your way to repair of body and mind. Since going on the PALEO/primal eating lifestyle I could never look back. my weight has not come back even though I've been totally slacking on exercise due to injury and I never count calories or portions. I eat whenever I'm hungry, no kidding. Dx started following my new lifestyle after watching me with a skeptical eye for the first 6 months and there's no going back for her either. we both have improved so much and feel supa!

so glad to be back home, and got out today with friends for hiking and shooting in the mountains. gorgeous in the sunny/snowy Sierras today.

well, off to start the artichokes....

            be well everyone

              Hi Gang!

TDN, I didn't mention happy anniversary to your earlier...wow...23 years?! Good for your guys! We're only on our 2nd year but have lived together for 10

Pap, I am thinking of you tonight my friend. I am so sorry for the bad stuff going on right now but it would be lots worse if you were not handling sober, as you know. You should be proud of yourself for that. I am. Sending positive vibes and thoughts of abundance out to you from the coast and down Route 2! Know that we are all thinking of you and sending your strenght. You will get through this. As the others have said, just getting some exercise in and eating better will help a great deal and you can start that right now! Peace and love to you!

Shue, have a glorious weekend skiing! Stick with that Perrier, you are doing great!

Hi Determinator, Raven, Sunshine (or should we start calling you Farm Girl?), Lav, DG, Kas, and everyone checking in tonight. Have a wonderful evening!

Deter did you give up dairy products when you went Paleo? I know some of the diet say no dairy and with some it's okay. I primarily eat low carb, but tried to follow a primal/Paleo diet a year or two ago. I can do without cream in my coffee, but give up cheese? :upset:

Way to go today Blondie with staying strong during your cravings. Well done!

I'm just sipping some tea and I'm going to stretch my neck (traction) and try to drift off to sleep here soon. Have a great night friends! :h

FlyAway, I still eat cheese too because.... it's cheese! although I'm now leaning towards the better quality offerings and ideally the sheep and goats milk cheese since they are of the A2 genetic strain of milk. it's a long story but dairy cows in the US and Europe are largely A1 which is considerably more problematic due to a toxic peptide it contains. i DID find to my surprise/delight that 'whole paycheck' now has A2 certified cows milk from Jersey cows, so I'd probably be fine with that also.
but in general I don't eat much dairy and I think I'm better for it.

                    Hey everyone!

Det and Flyaway, I too, eat low carb but I can't seem to nix the cheese. Like you, Det, I opt for goat's cheese. It's supposed to be easier to digest than cow's milk and lower in overall fat. I use a goat butter which is decadent. I used to eat a lot more dairy but after hearing all the research on how cow's milk is really supposed to fatten up a calf, just that visual in itself (as in, I don't want that type of growth in myself...lol) has steered me away from cow dairy. So, right now, I eat some goat cheese, in addition to lean proteins, nuts and vegetables mostly. If I cave in to sweets, I always have a box of low carb Atkins snack bars on hand and will just have a piece of one of those. Seems to do the trick and I haven't had any trouble keeping slim that way!

BlondeAF sounds like your really doing well but I'd just throw in one caveat: experiment with increasing the 'good' dietary fats to a significant quantity of daily calories and see how that improves sleep/moods and hormonal activity (not saying you have any issues there... but I'd be willing to bet it helps make an already good diet even better). My fav good fat is extra virgin coconut oil. and it's much easier on the liver than other fats. in fact it bypasses the whole liver/bile salts process entirely and goes straight to work rebuilding cell walls and hormones. good stuff.
boy am I a geek or what?

DET! You and I are birds of a feather...I absolutely LOVE EV coconut oil...I have about a spoonful a day and sometimes use it to cook with if I am not using olive oil. I have noticed positive changes in my skin and metabolism. I am a big believer in good fats and also supplement with a spoonful of flaxseed oil everymorning and a good dose of Fish Liver oil capsules twice a day. It really does make a difference. Lastly, vitamin D3 has been a godsend with my mood and immunity this winter. I take 2000IU's of that a day and it seems to do wonders. Looks like we have lots in common with the diet
