AF Daily - Monday, March 5

Three dog- this weekend. Eek! I'm feeling ready. We have a lot of things planned and it's a short trip. I plan on using weightloss as my excuse. I'm just not ready to own up to the real reason especially not my husband. I'm fairly certain he's clued in to my "issue" anyway. It doesn't take a rocket scientist...

Greeneyes- I plan of visiting daily. I'm thinking about writing a post on here to myself as a reminder. Is that dorky? I'm not sure where a good place to post it would be.

Have a great day all. I'll visit later.

      Mornin' Monday Marchers!

Thanks Shue for getting us off on the right "foot" ( no pun intended...hahahaha!). Take it easy today, I can imagine you are in need of some R and R after a weekend of skiing my friend! MOROCCAN SWEETS??? I bet those are exotic and wonderful, do pass me the tray. I'd love something sweet with my coffee instead of an atkins bar...lol!

Sausage, great job on 11 days! You are almost at a week...me too! Let's make a pact to get to our 14 days and maybe we can have s'more cake...

Almost Famous...I am on lucky day 13 too! Doesn't it feel wonderful to be almost 2 weeks in? Great going!

TURNAGAIN!!! Good to hear from our Caribbean friend! I have been thinking of you! Your post really hit home for me as you know I am also going on a cruise in a few months (95 days but I'm not counting or anything...heh heh).

You said: "I DID have a marvelous time. No extraneous fuel needed - or desired - at all. 7 months ago...I NEVER thought I would be saying that. I KNOW what the difference is: the decision - the acceptance - to NEVER drink again...No Matter What. You longtime abbers know how that works! What took me so long to realize that for myself?"

I am inspired by your resolve on a vacation like that. I have been on a few cruises myself and I know they try to make money on AL...a lot! My ex husband and I spent prolly thousands just on cruise ship drinks over the course of our extravagent vacations (he was one of those big time execs...the kind I can't stand to be around anymore and for that and many reasons I left and then married a down to earth pauper. Well not exactly a pauper, but you guys know what I mean...:h). Anyway, wasn't it great, TURN, that you didn't get that last day bill with all the drinks on it? Must have been. This will be a motivator to not drink on the Bermuda cruise. That, and the fact that I am learning the acceptance of being sober. That sobriety is not a chore, it is not a quick fix, it is not a temporary way of life until the next weekend or holiday or birthday. It is a WAY OF LIFE, that if chosen with the WANT to choose it, it will allow you to dream again, to go back the the dreams you gave up before drinking, to open doors for you that you never thought possible. Even those like vacationing sober and having the time of your life. Thank you for your post TURN and welcome back to the States. I hope your ice cube is melting as we speak. First day of Spring isn't that far off (March 20th, right?). :goodjob:

Alright, clock goes faster when I am on MWO, I am convinced. Gotta have breakie and get going to work. 2 more days and I'm off for 2...

Shue, an RV Vacation??? May I suggest Acadia National Park in Maine? I grew up there, it is on Mount Desert Island. Georgeous hiking, Cadillac Mountain, the ocean, the rocky coast. It would be well worth seeing and I'd love to give you some highlights. Pass through Mass and maybe we can hit the Shoe Stores!!!!

Alrighty Aphrodities...gotta go! Make it a great day. I'll hang with y'all tonight when I get home from work and gym!:thanks:
Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.

      BE HAPPY...BE CONNECTED...BE HEALTHY!

Feck no! There is nothing dorky about taking steps to be AF! There's lots of threads started by people recording their own journey. Anywhere is good. How about here, in monthly abs?

Pap ? many many thx ? I actually read your post about doggy thyroid testing last week and talked about it with hubby, who is equally worried. TND, Almost ? thank you for chiming in too ? no leash aggression, he seems more responsive to commands and is overall much better with new human contact. New dogs are the big problem.

Greendog ? You do have a point about us travelling quite a bit. We used to leave him with our neighbors (who played with him plenty, let him sleep on their coach ? big no no in my house - let him swim in the pool and overall spoil him rotten) ? sadly AL broke up the happy family next door and the husband lives now on his own, mostly in AL land.:upset:

Turn ? awww shucks, safe travels home and bring back some much need sunshine to your fellow ice cube dwellers.:rays::rays:

Almost ? I don?t know if you?ve seen but Jane 27 in newbies nest has recently completed a Las Vegas AF stint .

Blondie – X-post – Been to Maine and loved it – we have friends with a house in Rockland (planning on seeing them again). Hit the shoe stores ? anytime anywhere …

About Bermuda …you do know it is 21 miles long, 1 mile wide and has 9 golf courses ? I did not know that when hubby to be took me there the first time – I guess it was his nice way of letting me know he’s a golf – aholic.:h:h:h

                *yawn*

Holy Mackarel, you girls are chatty today :H

I made up with the sleep fairy.. well, at least for last night. Much needed. Or perhaps it was her cousin the coma fairy... having an awful hard time coming out of the fog.

Turnip, so proud of you! And, you WILL have pictures for us to drool over when you get home, right? Shue... no advice re doggie... Papmom is the go-to girl here Greenie... no advice on what brand of hyaluronic acid but I gave that to Sophie (my 35 year old mare) and she did fantastic with it. It came in a powder with other equine vits and minerals. (Don't think you'd wanna take that) :H

I already forget what else was going on - will try again after more coffee. Happy Monday (or something like that)... one thing is for sure!
Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

Shue thanks for getting us started today. It sounds like your body needs a rest from all of the exercise it's been getting. I don't think my sister or BIL will say anything to me tonight. I have refused to drink in the past in front of them and it hasn't been an issue. But if it does come up I'll tell them that since my headaches have gotten so bad, I'm avoiding all triggers. Alcohol being one of them.

Sugarbeat this is so much about the mind, isn't it? Well done. I can't figure out how I got to be so negative either. Congrats on lucky 13!

Turnagain your post makes me so happy! I have been on 5 cruises and every one of them I've been in a drunken oblivion in the evening. I bet they're much more fun sober. I can't wait to feel the freedom that you've expressed. Although I have NO desire to drink, I'm aware of how fragile my sobriety is and feel that my mind could rationalize drinking to me at any moment.

Almostfamous don't you had those "drink" dreams and the disappointment you feel in yourself? Congratulations on day 13!

Sausage I am really impressed with you! You've sounded so shaky at times, but you're being tough and getting through this. Well done.

Papmom have a great day at work.

Hi TDN! I'll have to go read the thread you're talking about. Sixty degrees sounds wonderful!

Greeneyes I've heard that too about telling yourself that you love yourself. An energy worker told me to try it. She said that most people cry at first. We are hardest on ourselves. Anti-cold vibes to you.

Blonde--ha ha! Shue/foot! I can't begin to tell you how much money my DH and I have spent on booze when cruising. In the thousands. Turns post was great.

                  Hi Lav! Hi Sunshine!

Hi Fabblers, everyone seems very happy this morning...especially TURN! Yay Turn, very inspiring and thought provoking post. Those of you first starting out, what ever your frame of mind is, I hope you are as inspired by Turns description as I was. The epiphany of learning that you can be free of AL instead of wishing secretly you could still have it is amazing when it happens, and its so worth working toward.

I am also glad to see progress, especially Sugarbeat, of Eire. You just seem so much more sure of yourself, and not so scared and weepy, thats AMAZING....keep it up. Sausage, you too, well done.

i am afraid I dont have much to add, I am really struggling with my health, and with getting a paper out that was rejected, trying to revise a science paper when you feel like the wrath of God has come down on your head is not as much fun as, say, gardening, taking a bath, playing with my grandkids, going cross country skiing... I miss the kids and the skiis, thats for sure. However, I have only to explain 10 variables over 6 years of measurements in a 240 km long study area, and I can see why they rejected my paper, it wasnt very good at the start, so its off to the writing dungeon for me.

Everyone have a wonderful AF day. DG hope your midterms are good to you, Ive already sent condolences on your dad, its tough, I feel for you. Greenie, you are such a breath of fresh air on here, I watch for your posts every day. Lav, buy a ticket and meet us in Australia. Blondie, as always thanks for being so fecking cheerful all the time, lol, Shue Ski font ou ski alpine, tres formidable, TDN its nice to see you being more contented than say two months ago. Det as usual, you are such a peach and garlic kind of a guy, And all others. Marshy, especially, how are you today?

I just want to say how nice it is to have a place to come to say I am free of alcohols control over my life, my life is my kids, my husband, my home, my consulting company, my garden, my friends, it doesnt belong to alcohol any more.

                    Love to all

Good morning all! I'm back again for about the umpteenth time. Last year I went 5 mo. AF while going to AA. That was good but I didn't like some aspects of it. I decided I would MOD! HA HA! That hasn't worked at all. I'm back to a 750 L. bottle of wine a day, sometimes a bit more and I'm sick of it. I've also gained back about 8 pounds that I lost while not drinking. I had knee replacement surgery last Oct. which has been a miracle for walking. Now I just need to get out more and do it! I'm going AF again as of today. My plan is to come here often and I may visit an all women's AA group on Wed. night. My main problem is that I have to go to work very early in the morning and usually can't get to sleep early without some wine. I bought some melatonin awhile back and haven't tried it yet so will do that tonight. I want and need to stop because I feel bad, more depressed, and I'm afraid my liver enzymes might have gone back up again. They went down when I stopped last year. I look forward to reading everyone's posts and getting AF for once and for all!
                      Thanks,
                      Auntie

Ok, second run at it... one pot of coffee down..

Welcome back Auntie, and welcome to the "I can't moderate to save my life - Club" :hallo:

Shu and Kas... you've pretty much exhausted my french vocabulary. Now quit it! :H
Flyaway... I've posted this in the past... I spent hours rehearsing 'excuses/explanations' prior to my first big AF shindig... and not a soul gave one iota whether or what I drank It's mostly us obsessing... and perhaps those, who have a problem as well and are looking for company in their misery.
TDN.. did you apply for the Library job yet? Keeping fingers, toes, eyes crossed for ya!
Blondie... I'm loving your enthusiasm! Especially the first day of Spring bit! :H

I'll post a couple of pictures from this morning... but will use new reply. Have a fabby rest of the day, folks!

Wow sunshine those are GLORIOUS photographs. Very uplifting for a gal stuck at the keyboard describfng plant biomass changes over elevation regimes, let me tell you. SUPER and BEAUTIFUL! Love the snow. it looks like that here when we are lucky but you get real sunshine out there in the Shield. In the mountains here, can be a tad drab. The picture of your horses having fun made me smile very WIDE!
