Magical March Marchers - Week 4

Mother Goose! Congratulations and love on your Anniversary, Lav. I met you my first day here and I credit you with bringing me around more than once when I have lost sight that life enduringly free from alcohol is possible and that I can be strong and clear and fine in my heart no matter what is going on around me. You didn?t just find sobriety, you brought, and are bringing, people with you every day, and I am so very glad to be among them. Love, Ladybird.
    may we be well

              Good morning, good morning...

Fly, loved your description of the alcohol and alcohol free celebration and after effects. That is why I loved the Jason Vale book, it is so on target. I am happy you were enjoying the sunshine and your coffee, and realized that drinking is just so NOT WORTH IT!

Dew, you sound so healthy and peaceful, that retreat sounded awesome and fierce. To be alone for seven days is something, the reading, yoga, meditation, outdoor walking, and knitting along with the healthy eating, sounded like heaven. All I could think of was what a great way to strengthen you immune system and empower your spirit! I understand that you do not want to focus on the drinking part of this thread, I love the friendship parts and keeping up with everyone's journey. I am hopeful that you will stop in from time to time, your input is so meaningful and you are such a lovely person.

Blonde, you will do great during the Easter holiday, I can tell you are planning for it already, and what is the old saying, failing to plan is planning to fail, not you at all.

Lav, we all appreciate the time you take to counsel and support all of us, thanks.

Rusty, I love that part of Michigan, enjoy.

Papmom, loved the pics of your doggies, they are so darling.

Rustop, enjoy the warmth while you can, we had lovely warm weather and now it has cooled off a bit, but still great.

I am feeling so positive and peaceful, my focus is to take good care of myself and therefore, everyone else in my life. Drinking is so nonproductive and harmful, the longer we go AF, the more confident and sure we are. As Lav stated, having clarity through all of life is such a gift.

To all, have a great day.

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                Hi Marchers!

Dew-I can totally relate to your comment of "defining yourself by drinking or not drinking"...I feel I am at this place also. I am not craving AL nearly as much as when I kicked it a little over a month ago. I don't get such a strong urge to drink the moment I get home from work nor do I obsess about it the whole way home from work. I guess it's just that I have replaced my bad habit with good habits like working out at the gym after work and have alternative drinks that I enjoy waiting for me in the fridge when I get home. And also the fact that I never want to wake up hungover like Fly's hubby...I have been there so many times and never want to experience that awful feeling again!

Wishing you all a lovely day!

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                    Good Tuesday morning Marchers!

Chilly but sunny here this moring, seasonal I suppose. We were spoiled for weeks with warm weather.

I'll be thinking of nursery rhymes all day but I have to say I guess it's good to be Mother Goose & not The Old Lady in the Shoe :H :H

Hope to putz around outside later, so much cleanup waiting to be done. Also awaiting YB's text message report on the condition of his knee
Sunday, while we were at my daughter's tilling a garden for her he managed to do something causing a painful popping sound/feeling in the back of his right knee. I fear he may have popped his PCL but he's as stubborn as a mule & won't go to a doctor I gave him instructions on how to take care of it - of course I don't want to be accused of being too pushy & bossy again so I just backed off to let him suffer alone :H :H

Wishing a great AF Tuesday for everyone!!!

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                      Hello hello, Marchers!

Lav, I would love to be putzing around outside but I already put my ice pick away :H I did manage to pry some sweet pea seeds into the ground (poured hot water on the ground first) since they'd been soaking since Sunday. Brrrrrrrr... what's up with the seasonal temperatures?

Blondie... well, that one there in the picture is the smallest of the flower beds... it has a peony in it so far, and now sweet peas against the wall. I'm not sure yet what all will find a home there but I'm confident I'll fill it one way or another The other side (much larger) will have lots of 'typical' plants... holly hocks, sun flowers, purple cone flowers, that sort of thing. Fun, fun. I only have shade gardens around the house (read, oodles of hostas, bleeding hearts, astilbe, and ground covers) so I'm really looking forward to play with sun plants again.

Anywho.. looks like my riding lesson isn't going to happen today.. flurries, freezing rain, ice pellets in the forecast.. yick. I ain't doin it. So, a full work day it is, then.

                      Hi-ho, hi-ho.. off to work, I owe...

Oh.. Dew, I loved your description of your solitary retreat. Sounds like heaven.
Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                        Yikes!!!
I remembered I had a good coupon to use at the outlets so I hopped in the car & made the 45 min drive to Lancaster. Bought three outfits at the Carters outlet store for Will's 1st BD coming up soon, bought two tops for myself at the Loft outlet store (45 min. total shopping) then made the 45 min trip home. What the hell is it with me and 45 minute intervals today? :H

Got to thinking on the way home I would love some vegan cream of mushroon soup for dinner so I stopped at a mushroom outlet (3 lb box for $4.25). Love those super fresh mushrooms

Did I get anything done outside - not really but I will be having good soup for dinner.
Sunni, sorry to hear about your weather, that sucks It did hit 50 degrees here & the sun is out so I will not complain.

Did get a text from YB - he's hurting pretty bad & actually is going to the doctor tomorrow. I think some xrays are in order. Too bad he doesn't have a nurse handy to help him out :H
Am I being mean? I don't think so.....
I think this is yet another example of what goes around comes around. Hmmmm.

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                            Hello Marchers,
Lav, let us know how YB's doc visit goes. I hope he is OK.

Sunni, do have fun with your sunni flower bed! We do an annual bed every year. It adds such a riot of color to the yard! Just like you do for our thread.

Dew, I understand what you mean about MWO keeping you some how anchored to an old habit pattern. I hope you will continue to pop in and just visit with us. This thread has always been more than just about drinking. It's a celebration of AFL (Alcohol Free Living).

Blonde, I enjoyed your post about how you have changed your habit pattern and that it continues to get easier for you. Life is good!

Star, once again you made a simple statement that helped me get more centered: "I am feeling so positive and peaceful, my focus is to take good care of myself and therefore, everyone else in my life. Drinking is so nonproductive and harmful, the longer we go AF, the more confident and sure we are." So true and a good reminder.

This is my last week of work before spring break. We'll be leaving for New Orleans to visit with my daughter, SIL and G-baby Emerson! We'll also stop in Baton Rouge to visit my brother. I am so looking forward to this break! I am getting used to visiting New Orleans and remaining AF. It is now quite the "norm" for me, so that is good.

Have a great AF Hump day LBH, Rustop, Rusty, SD, (good luck with the job applications!), Sped, Papmom, Chill, Cyn, Jolie, Fly, G., Raven, Daisy, everyone!

                            April name ideas:
                            Honkin' AF April
                            April: Honk if you're AF
                            April AF Flock
                            Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                              Happy Hump Day,

A quiet day on the thread yesterday, and it is OK.

I have read two things already about persistence, and wanted to share something I read on Daily Word:

Great discoveries have been made by persons who kept trying after their initial efforts failed. They proved failure can be turned into success by just one more try. No matter how difficult a problem may appear, I do not become discouraged. I am confident and persistent.

Persistence is what we need in this journey, no matter how many tries, we have to keep going. We just keep gaining skills and getting used to an AF life. I appreciated Blonde's statement that she has new habits, exercise and special AF drinks in her fridge after work. Little by little, changes are made, and it is great to have the support of this site and this thread in particular.

Dill, you are so lucky to have an entire week off, one of the perks of the school system. Warm weather and family time, AF. Sounds perfect.

Did any of you every notice how mood is contagious? Yesterday at work there was some negativity, and somehow it caught me, causing me to fight off anxiety. I hate that. It is so important to be positive and have faith, in ourselves and our future. Dreading the unknown is a waste of time, yet sometimes it happens. I am working today on being much more positive. Wondered how people here protect themselves or overcome those anxious/negative vibes.

Hello to Lav, chill, cyn, fly, rusty, rustop, papmom, dill, sunni, kaslo, blonde, lbh, dew, mrG, sooty, and any and all....have a lovely Wednesday.
