Magical March Marchers - Week 4

:H Lav You tell 'em, girl!!! Have fun with beautiful Lilly today!

Actually, that reminds me of a funny incident many years ago... grocery store, line up at the meat counter, husband and wife butt in line. Me: "Excuse me, but the line is over --> there". Husband gives me a dirty look, wife turns her cart in the direction I pointed out. Husband: "Dumme Kuh" (Translation: Stupid cow). Me: "Bloeder Hund" (Translation: Stupid dog). Husband and wife freeze, then leave the meat counter all together. Guess they weren't expecting anyone to understand/speak German :H

Oh, Ladybird... that sounds wonderful! I do have some partial sun around the house and I do plant stuff there that should really get a lot more sun. The only thing I don't seem to have a green thumb for is roses. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but they really don't like me. Have you got any pictures of your garden?? Hm? Pullleze? And good job on the 'collecting'. I once had to collect same from a horse. That damn bugger was ready to explode but would not pee while I was around. Took me 3 days! :H

Blondie... same here. Been building fires for the last 3 days. Cold, damp, ick. Almost like.... March! :H

Ok, I better get working here. Feeling much better than last week or the week before. At least mentally. Happy Thursday, everyone!

Oh.. and a hearty hello to everyone else!!! Geez, where's me manners.
Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

          Sunni, you devil :H
When my daughter was in high school we used to go sit on the beach in Cape May, NJ. Turns out a lot of French speaking people liked that beach as well. My daughter had primo French skills back then so she used to tell me (in quite detail) what all the husbands & wives were talking about :H
          I had forgotten about that!!

Had a great visit with all the grandkids, daughter & DIL today. Wow, what a busy gaggle of kids we have here. They were into everything
Maxie is exhausted & sleeping. My Corgi guest is trying to settle down but I know from previous experience with him.....it will take a few days until he gets used to the outside 'noises' around here. Usually it's something like a bunny rabbit or a deer in the yard (nothing I ever hear).

          Hi sid & Blondie!

Wishing a good night to all!

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

            Good morning everyone

Had no power yesterday for a long time as there was quite a big fire not too far from us. Hope no houses were damaged but you feel for the wild life too.

Had some me time yesterday. Got my eyebrows done, HD, (High Definition). I am going grey there too and was thinking about having them tented but then read about this new procedure. They use wax and threading and you get them done once a month and dont touch inbetween. Bit too dark but she said to expect that for the first few days but they would tone down. Will try it for a while. Also got to sit at home last night. My daughter is now able to drive alone so did the horse etc. herself.

Hope everyone has a great week-end. I think the nice weather we have been having is about to end but hopefully it will not rain.

              TGIF Marchers!

Can't believe March is almost over!

Sunni - that story was hilarious!

Lav - I can only hope that I have as much energy as you do when (and if) I have grandkids. I am so happy for you that you have these blessings in your life. You give so much to everyone here that it's nice to see you get so much enjoyment from those little ones.

Rustop - how are you dealing with your daughter being able to drive on her own? I remember feeling relieved on one hand and terrified on the other:H It's hard to let our little baby birds out of the nest to fly on their own.

Howdy LBH, Star, Blondie, Sid, Chill, Papmom, Rusty - what's everyone have planned for the weekend?

I'd like to get started on my deck. I like to hang huge ferns from my deck all the way around my house. Just need to find somewhere that has them for a reasonable price. Testimony to how mild this winter was??? I left a planter of italian parsley outside on my covered deck all winter long - it has suddenly sprung to life and looks great! I would love to have an herb garden somewhere around the house - anyone grow one or know how much work is involved?

Okay - going to get cleaned up and go into work for a while then it's off to my favorite chore - grocery shopping!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!!!

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                Good morning to all...

It is rainy and cooler here today, but oh well, it has still been the best spring that I can remember. Lots of housework and laundry to do today, then taxes, just a nice little home day and I love it.

Jolie, I have always grown some herbs, I love them. Last year I planted some in pots, and in the ground, and several have survived. I have lavender, a perennial, the parsley is doing well (I am really surprised) and chives, and in the pots, rosemary and oregano have made it through the winter and it is amazing. Last year I also planted basil and patchouli, they did not make it. So, I will get a few more plant to put in the pots and will be good to go. They need lots of sun. Herbs smell so good, I want to dry some this year and make a tea. Last year I would cut basil fresh and put it in recipes, it was so fun!

LBH, I actually had to create a place to sleep the snoring was so loud and I never slept through the night, and I finally realized I deserved to sleep soundly and for several hours. It was kind of sad though and it makes me feel old. But sleep is so important.

Greetings to all, have a great Friday.

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

Hi Gang! This is it! Now we are down to the wire! Looking forward to finishing the month with you all SOBER and flying our flock into April!

Jolie, your deck sounds awesome! We have a big farmer's porch off the front of our house. It sold us on the place in the beginning! I love to hang planters out there and we have a nice wicker set and big coffee table and some adirondick chairs (that I need to repaint...ugh) out there too. I have a little herb garden that I try to add to every year. Last year I did a few herbs in pots and they fared well. I noticed that my chives are now growing again and I guess I can start using them any time! I have lavender and rosemary that did pretty well. I have no luck with dill it seems, although that is one of my favorites. I also love to grow nastursiums in my herb garden and use the leaves and flowers in my salads. So nice to be thinking of gardening now!

Well, gotta run off to work. I've had a super 2 days off and looking forward to seeing my colleagues at work this morning. Always nice to get a break but nice to get back into the swing of things too.

Have a lovely day to all!

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                    Good morning Marchers,

Crazy that the month is almost over!
Woke up feeling 'doggish' so I'm taking a break from Curves (miss it when I don't go). I have some respiratory thing brewing (again) & hate to say that after working outside two days this week my forearms have broken out in some red, rashy, itchy disturbance Am I allergic to everything???? Ugh!

Jolie, I have a herb garden right outside my door. My grandson stops & snaps off pieces of chives, lemon balm & chocolate mint - he actually likes them! I have French tarrragon in there, oregano & thyme, Italian parsley & a few others. I have a lavender bed behind my house, of course Drying herbs is easy (if you remember to actually do it).

Greetings to Blondie, Star & everyone!
Need to go medicate myself with something & I'll be back later.

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

As it turns out, I am right with you Star! Yesterday afternoon I went out and bought a Tempur-pedic like the one I normally share with Lord Bird Heart and put it in the guest room. I can?t believe it was delivered an hour and a half after I purchased it. I agree that having a sleeping spot does make me feel old and a bit weird but you are right, good sleep is hard to replace and lack of it puts me at major risk of drinking. It seems as long as I start out and end up in the vicinity of Lord Bird Heart, whatever goes on while he is sawing logs doesn?t really affect him and I could be on the moon. Once our allergy season is over he may sound less like a freighter and I may be also more tolerant. Spring has me all over the place emotionally, swooning over my garden one minute and clawing out my itchy eyes and contemplating booze and murder the next.

Herbs gardens are fun, Jolie, and I agree with the others that Italian parsley can take anything, mine self sows and has flourished in spite of temperatures that have ranged wildly from ?9 to 100F in the past year. Most of my herbs are perennial or self sowing like dill, but I also do grow cheerful pots of tender basil and cilantro in the house in winter. It helps both the food and the cook. Thank you for asking about my garden, Sunni, I shall post some pictures and also take more. I have on internet order ten huge yellow daylilies and two newer types Echinacea in fuchsia and coral with big pompom heads. I saw something like them at our botanic garden last year and it was all I could manage not to sneak over and steal some. Gardening can turn an otherwise good girl to the dark side. Love, Ladybird. PS, Sunni, free catch piddle from a horse has made you forever a hero to me.
                      may we be well

:H Omigosh... are we related, by chance?
I used to take a hand trowel and plastic bag with me when I took the kids to the park... ya never know! :H And what's with the itchy eyes? It seems to be getting worse every year. Hrmpfh.

                        Oh, and Hello Marchers!
Just came back from barn duties and other puttering... I scored a really cute wooden planter at the local hardware store yesterday; hung it up on the outside of the barn. Will have to take pictures when there's actually something in it As for herb gardens... I really only grow chives and parsley. I'm not a fan (taste wise) of basil, rosemary and the likes... maybe I just haven't found the right recipes yet Oh.. and nasturtiums are a must ... sprinkled throughout the veggie garden, too... they just look so purdy in a salad

Jolie... were you being sincere about grocery shopping being your fav thing? In that case, please check your Inbox for my shopping list (insert totally serious emoticon here, I ran out)

Rustop.... they do eyebrows in HD now?! :H Glad you're back in Hydro land. And yeah.. how do you handle your daughter driving on her own? *shudder* I've got one who is a dare devil and thinks he's invincible and one who's paranoid and probably crawling along at 30mph. Neither instill a whole lot of confidence in me when it comes to driving.

Ok, I better get moving. Have a fabulous Friday, everyone!

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

                          Hey everyone,
Hate to say it, but I am sick. Can't believe how many times I glibly said "I never get sick."! Guess I didn't knock on wood enough. Thought it might just be be seasonal itchy eye allergies but when the chills and fever started in last night I knew no way. Off to urgent care this morning though and hopefully sufficiently medicated. Missing my usual active life style but every time I try to get up and do something semi active I'm wrecked almost immediately.

Rust, proud mom, congrats on those girls.

Lav, sending you an inquiring PM about vegan cooking.

LadyB., wish I had your motivation to garden in the desert.

Jolie, I love grocery shopping too, especially at a place like Whole Foods. Got to be careful not to shop when I'm hungry.

Want to do my power tool thing tomorrow but will wait and see what kind of night I have. I used to work with a teacher who said she always fell asleep the second her head hit the pillow and did not wake up til morning. There were days I wanted to throttle her for saying that.
I've been up for most of 2 nights now; wish me luck tonight.

Magical March Marchers - Week 4

LBH, when I first started having those lovely (menopausal) night sweats at the ripe opld age of 42 is when I really discovered how pathetic YB's snoring was. I tried dealing with it for a long time but finally had to give up & sneak around the house to look for a quieter place to sleep. It was damn awful for me & he was insulted Years later I talked him into having a sleep study done. He was borderline on sleep apnea BUT he was told to lose weight immediately. Did he? Of course not so I gave up & just chose a spare room which fortunately had just became available. I honestly believe my fall down the steps nearly 12 years ago & subsequent pretty serious injuries were the result of chronic exhaustion Get your sleep - no matter what

Sunni, I should mail some of my tasty herbs to you this summer & get you interested in trying new things. If nothing else you can make some interesting teas

Shelley, sorry to hear you are sick! Maybe you've been working too hard lady. Take care of yourself now, the power tools will keep!

I have to show you a pic of a puppy I am interesred in adopting. Her name is Matilda

I'll find out next week some time if I'm approved. She part Beagle & part something else.
                              I think she's a cutie!!!

                                Good morning everyone

The weather might be overcast but just logging onto this thread brightened my morning :h:h

Sunni - info please on where/how you get those pictures. The sleep fairy is adorable. Talking about adorable - Lav - if I was in the same country I would be fighting you for that puppy.

Shelly - hope you are feeling a bit better today. Also anyone else suffering with allergies etc.

I grow parsley, thyme, chives, sage, rosemary and have a go at basil and dill but they are a bit more tempermental.

Regarding daughter driving, it is a double edged sword. On the one hand it is great to be able to stay home more but there is that nagging worry there, especially when she is out at night.

Nothing major planned for today apart from a long walk.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone. Chill - hope you are ok and that everything is falling into place for your move.
