Just Joy ~ June Week 3
Late evening check in!
Had a wonderful Father's Day! I went out and met J's parents and pretty much entire family (he comes from a large Catholic family--like 7 brothers and sisters--they weren't ALL there)...anyway..they were having a fish fry out on their farm...it was really neat!! I had such a good time!!
LBH--I'm sorry if my post mislead anyone...I knew that you hadn't drank--I just put that in there because I too was having those "drinking thoughts"...just thoughts, no actions!
Pap3--Your weekend sounded pretty busy!! I sure hope you feel ok in the morning too!! You are doing those agility trials for a competition right? Do you win some kind of prize?
Lav--glad your day was drama-free! Those are the best!!!
Star--I love hearing about what your son was like when he was younger...it kinda reassures me that everything that my son is going through is "normal"! Thank you!!:l
Rustop--Glad you had a wonderful day as well!!
Rusty--Are you a pretty avid/good swimmer? I love to swim!! I used to be on the swim team when I was growing up! Spent pretty much 24/7 in the water!! Probably explains my now appearing sun spots--GROSS!!!!!
Well....I'm off to bed!!! I have a bunch of work to do for the reunion tomorrow and my son has a baseball game and two basketball games!! Busy, busy!!!
Hugs to you all!!

:wd::wd::happy:Congrats on ONE YEAR, SD!!!:wd::wd:
You are a star!!!! I'm so proud of the way you have turned yourself around. You have brought others along with you, too by sharing your journey.
Today is a special day for me as well. It is our 35th wedding anniversary today. Wow, the time does fly! We have no big plans, as you know, I like quiet and no fuss. I am getting a hair cut and he is dropping me off at the shop, then picking me up and we will go out to dinner. Does that not sound like the perfect day for an old married couple? LOL! It will be nice to celebrate af.
Pmom, I hope you get your achiles sorted out. That sounds awful!
Jolie, Happy 50th!Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Good morning June bugs!
SD - CONGRATULATIONS on your 1 year anniversary! You are awesome - hope you know how much I look forward to your posts! Glad you had such a good day with the bf's family - your son must really keep you hopping! I miss those days when we ran from one sporting event to another - hope you have a great day!
Dill - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Your day sounds perfect. New do or just a trim - doesn't matter - I love getting my hair done - best part is the wash and if you have someone that knows what they are doing, it's the best 3 minutes of the day :H
Papmom - hope your foot is okay and you are not in pain today. I would love to watch an agility trial - never been to one but have watched them on tv. Us dog lovers do love our dogs and it must be extra special to watch them perform like that.
Lav - YB will be back just in time to mow your lawn in all the heat and humidity that's supposed to head our way this week Hope your son at least had a restful day after his shift - how can they work someone 48 hours straight? Is he a fire fighter or something? I know you've mentioned what he does before but this old brain can't remember.
Speaking of which, thank you all for the birthday wishes - hope you know how much it means to me. You guys are awesome - had such a great birthday! Usually I'm home feeling depressed and almost always have a good cry on my birthday - which is just dumb. We need to be thankful for each and every day of our lives even though some are definitely better than others!
LBH - I actually love getting up early - it's so quiet and on the weekends I'll get my cup of coffee and sit out on the deck and just listen to the birds and do a little reflecting. Hope your day goes well!
Rusty - glad you had a good time with your friends - haven't been in a pool in a while but it is so relaxing - especially on a hot day. Where are you off to next?
Rustop - sounds like a nice day for you - I love hiking especially if the scenery is nice. Actually my favorite kind of hike is through the woods - just something about nature that really touches me
Star - nothing wrong with the hamburger/hot dog meal - especially if it's grilled (that's the excuse I use anyway) Glad you had a nice time.
Okay - off to get some stuff done - hope everyone has a great day!Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Good morning to all...
Happy Anniversary SD, awesome accomplishment with good things coming your way. If you feel like it and have time, tell us again of all the positive changes in your life in the last year. I have lots of stories about my son, and now that they are in the past, they ARE funny!
Pap, so good to hear from you, nice you had your enjoyable agility time. It is so interesting to read about your love of your doggies and the fun activities they get to do with you. Hope you are enjoying your summer.
Rustop, what an awesome day, a three hour hike. What is pub grub? Fish and chips? Then you had to walk three hours back? You are tough.
Rusty, when it is hot, there is no better place than the pool. Wish I had time yesterday after the weather cleared.
LBH, it is good to get a clean fresh start EARLY, I try to get up by 6:00 a.m. every day. How is your garden doing? I have had to water lots, and my daylilies and roses are looking good right now.
Dill, congrats on the 35 years. I think it sounds like a lovely day, peaceful and filled with love.
Back to work today, hope I am busy so the day flies by....have a great day.Formerly known as redhibiscus

Good morning June friends,
Where's the sun??
Probably just as well it's cloudy - keeps it cooler!
Greetings Papmom & LBH. Take care of tha achilles papmom, you don't want that trouble! LBH, exactly what are you doing with an axe & shovel? I can't quite imagine that :H
SD, CONGRATS ON YOUR 1 YEAR AF :yay:
Really makes a huge difference, doesn't it? Your AFness becomes your new normal.....you can't ask for more!!!!
Dill, wishing you a very happy 35th!
Nice to hear that some people manage to remain happy & actually do something to celebrate. My 39th non-anniversary is on the 30th this month. I'm already feeling grumpy....
Jolie, that's right - YB returns just in time for the heatwave & to cut grass. I don't for sorry for him about that in any way, shape or form (do I sound a tad mean?) :H
My son is a firefighter in DC. His hours have gotten crazier since he received a promotion this past wnter. He is now being moved around to different fire houses all over the city to provide coverage .It's good getting that 50th BD out of the way!!!! Glad you had a good weekend!
Star, hope your day flies by for you!
I'm running a bit late here so I'd better get a move on. Curves awaits!

Happy 50th, Jolie! I hope it is the beginning of a wonderful year for you --
Congrats, SD!! You have done it - and will continue to do it. Really, it is true - you have attracted all this beauty into your life by your hard work.
Rusty - what a great post, as usual you hit the nail right on the head.
So glad to hear that people had a good time with family yesterday -- I took Mr Tree to a Biker Bar for breakfast (his dearest held dream is to own a Vespa, but no $$ for that right now...). As usual for this neck of the woods, the proprietors are escapees from the city grind (one a scientist turned short-order cook/vintage british motorbike re-builder, and his wife a former big-deal business writer who offered the MOST amazing strawberry/rhubarb crumble from the fruits in her garden). So, you never know - life is full of rich, unusual turns.
Lav - I think resentment is a very well-placed realization sometimes - maybe it's a sign for you to have some more 'Me' time? ( as opposed to Mi time?) Good luck with taking care of yourself.
LBH - fatigue and overwhelm remain dangerous territory for me, as well as the resentment of over-doing in the caretaking realm (see above). So glad you have put a plan in place that is working...I remember those early mornings in the desert, getting the outside things done before the sun does its thing...
Thanks, Dill for the doubt quote. It really made me realize how invested I get in that scenario. Mr Tree is always after me to get excited about things (like a new house!), and I steadfastly refuse to go there until all is signed, sealed and delivered. Maybe I can work on striking a balance...
It is so wonderful to read everyone's words, it is a balm. Thanks to everyone, and wishing you all a sweet AF day --to the light

Good Morning Junipers!
SD-Congratulations on 1 year AF!!!:yay::happy: I am so proud and happy for you...and to think you've had to ward off cravings lately. With all the changes in your life you've remained AF. I have a special place in my heart for you because you stay with us and I think you're lots younger than the rest of us. I do owe you a PM, and I'm trying to come up with a plan for us to meet. Also, look for your name under the General Discussion Forum. I started a thread there for you. (((HUGS)))
Chill-where are you? We haven't heard from you. I know you're busy with your course, but I miss you.
Dill-Happy 35th Anniversary! I love to see happy marriages and never tire of hearing stories about them.
Cyn-what good post did I hit the nail on the head? Thank you anyway. How are you feeling? I smiled when you said you took Mr. Tree (:H) to a Biker Bar. Is he covered with tattoos? Just kiddin. Yes, a Vespa....my neighbors have one. $$$ wow....not in my budget, either.
Lav-I'm sad for you that your 39th non-anniversary is coming up soon. Also, I was with two boys yesterday, 4 and 6....they are just wild! I developed empathy for you very fast yesterday.
Well, it's beautiful here and I am going to have a wonderful AF Monday. I vow to start every day, being grateful I'm sober, being grateful of my job change, and grateful that when the elastic went out on the top and bottom of my swimsuit yesterday that my friend's two little boys didn't see me! :H and there was no one else in the pool, thank God! Why, why, why do these things ALWAYS happen to ME?:H
Big hello to everyone I've missed! Happy AF Monday!!!

don't feel bad Rusty-my brand new elastic waist capris jeans kept falling down yesterday!! Lord knows they weren't too big either! Just poorly made I guess! Shame on Kohl's. Pretty embarrassing to have to pull up your pants like a 3 year old in the middle of a run LOL!!
Happy 1 year SD!! You rock girl!! So glad your day yesterday was great with the NBF's family. A farm to boot! How nice that he's part of a large family!!
Staying home today to nurse my anke. Got it elevated and doing ice every hour. Must get cracking on the work tho. It's a working sick day.New Birthday: May 8, 2010

I'm going to send everyone embroidered suspenders to hold their drawers up :H :H
As much as I'd like to take a break & go away for a few days - I won't because I don't want to go alone! I just can't bring myself to do that although I'm sure many women do. It would just be a torture fest for me & I'd end up feeling pathetic
I used to get my daughter to take trips with me but those days are over (pretty much). We talked about going away last summer & then again last fall but it never happened. I'll just wait out this funk ~ it will go away
Greetings Cyn, Rusty, Papmom & everyone!

I think quite a number of us are bursting with happiness for you SD. I really felt for you when you were suffering with drinking, and seeing you work through whatever has come up time after time successfully and go on to manage a challenging career while raising your son has been a heartfelt inspiration. May your new romance continue to open your world with fresh and fulfilling options and discoveries. Speaking of discoveries, Dear Lav, I wish you could get in my head for a few minutes and see how colorful time away can be as a solitary traveler. I learned to do it in childhood (dress up, take a book or paints, and cultivate an air of assurance and mystery even when you are quite lost), and it actually became my favorite way to see new things or vacation, there is something oddly romantic about it and emancipating. Well, I have seen all sorts of new and old things since five this morning and now it is time to make Lord Bird Heart, who is home today, his lunch. Tomorrow is his birthday and I need to sneak off to the Apple store and pick up the iPad I ordered for him where it has been in hiding (it?s self preservation, he keeps staring at mine with a lean and hungry look). Hi Jolie, Fly, Star (my roses and daylilies are wonderful also?), Dill (happy anniversary, Mr. Dill is clearly a keeper), Cyn, Rusty (I could completely relate to the funny swim suit affair), Rustop, Pap, et. al. Have a wonderful AF day, it works for me. Love, Ladybird.may we be well

Hi ALL!!
You all are so WONDERFUL here on MONTHLY AB--I HONESTLY don't know what I would do without this group!!! It is because of all of you that I got to this day and I can't thank you enough for all the support, encouragement, mentoring, guidance, butt chewings...whatever I needed to get my head where it needed it be!!
Rusty--I saw the thread you started over in generals--thank you!! I love it when I see Chops stop in and say hi--she was one person I started this journey with!! And yes, one day I know we will meet and I have a feeling it will be a day filled with much laughter!!! :l
Lav--LOVED the picture of you with your grandkids (and dog)....how adorable!!!
Dill--Happy 35th Anniversary!!! Wow, that's so great!!! Mr. Dill is SUCH a lucky man!!! I hope you both had a day filled with love, laughter and wonderful memories!!! I'm not sure why...perhaps because I had my first "promise not to drink month" with you...but I still feel this connection of never wanting to let you down, or disappoint you, and I know that is silly, because I don't even "know" you....but when you tell me you are proud of me it brings tears to my eyes...and I don't know why...but it means a lot...I think very highly of you and very much value your opinion and thoughts!! :l I guess that would be why, huh!!? LOL!! Thank you for being back on here!!
Thank you again everyone for making this day so special for me and helping me through this past year!! You are such an AMAZING group of ladies!!! (and sometimes men slip in here too!!)
HUGS TO YOU ALL!!
