    July's Jolly Journey - week 1

    Happy Friday Everyone

LBH - Your story really had me chuckling and provided a great vision of you surrounded by a jumble of cables. I do believe divine intervention comes in the most unusual forms. I was just discussing today a situation with a friend who was telling me how a really stressful episode at work triggered alopecia. She had to take leave till she recovered then quit the job. I said to her it was the Universe getting her attention as she had been too stubborn to quit a job which she hated until pushed to the limit.

This was the catalyst for her starting the Happiness Academy, she is a now qualified hypnotherapist and life coach and is putting together audio hypnosis downloads for a weight loss program to sell on Groupon and would like my input from a nutritional point of view. If its successful I would get a small % of the profit but it could grow into something much more. I don't know if its going to happen fast enough to keep the wolves from the doors but it has given me hope and a confidence boost as she really likes my writing.

Im smiling today as on Sunday I get to spend time with "my friend" the weather looks lousy so we are going to have afternoon tea (I told you he was posh English!). As the Peaceful Warrior said "there is never nothing going on"
"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

LBH!! I'm so proud of you!! I love how that alarm went off just as you almost made your move towards the scotch. Now, the next time that thought comes into your wonderful head, hear that alarm!!

Chill-so many things for you to contemplate!! The universe will take care of you soul sista!!

SD-have a great time this weekend! How did July 4th go with all the drinking surrounding you???

Well, It took 6 hours, some creative problem solving, a small hole in my leg, a hole in the inside back wall which on hindsight probably didn't need to be made and a mild case of heat illness, but by god the Paphut has running lights!! If I may be so bold, I freakin' rock! Pink Power!!

        Good afternoon July friends!
Could have sworn I posted here this morning.....guess not
Guess we should start a Week 2 thread.

The temp in the chicken house was 104 degrees at noon - poor chickens. I've loaded them up with an extra fan & tons of ice. Not much more I can do for them. Keeping the doggies & myself inside today. Heat index of 115 degrees is predicted - ugh.

Great day to be AF & smoke free too. I pity the idiots standing outside & smoking in this heat :H

Wishing everyone a super cool day
        AF since 03/26/09

Wow, Lav, that is so astonishingly HOT. I trust you will put yourself in park and survive the afternoon in a darkened indoor room. I am going to take a nice break this afternoon myself and watch a movie and then tonight I am going to a dinner party with Lord Bird Heart?s family. There will be lots of booze including all of my former favorites, but I am better off and enjoy myself more these days without it. I am taking a beautiful mixed bouquet of dahlias, roses, and daisies and a big basket of Cherokee Purple tomatoes, my garden is bursting. Also some soda water and a homemade tonic syrup that I ordered from a fellow in Arizona after reading about it in Saveur magazine. It makes a wonderful tonic with lime. Love to everybody, Ladybird.
          may we be well

It is a quiet day here on the thread. I am taking a page out of both your books, Lav and LBH. I am keeping myself inside today and I have been watching Netflix live streaming. I've been enjoying a series called Foyle's War. It's set in England during WWII.

LBH, I was duly impressed by your ability to to pause in the "space" between stimulus and response yesterday to choose the right action. Well done.

It is currently 102 degrees here, and I am sure it feels much warmer than that due to humidity. However, I am staying put for now.

I find that I prefer social events AF. It is no longer a challenge to me to avoid alcohol at gatherings. I too am "better off and enjoy myself more".

              Good morning to all...

The weather peoplesaid it was going to cool off, ha, they are wrong again. Dill, good idea to stay in and keep cool.

LBH, lovely of you to take flowers and tomatoes to your family event.

              Lav, anything new?

I am tired and sleeping alot, it is the heat. Lots of little things to do today, then back to work tomorrow. I am getting ready for my retreat next week, and feel excited to do something new and learn and take time for myself. I loved school as an adult and want to keep on learning.

To all, have a great day.

Sometimes "what is" is a tough place to be.

Hi Lav, isn't it amazing to have cabin fever in the summer? I always think of it as winter phenomenon, but with this heat I have been holed-up in my cabin way too long!

Star, can you describe the retreat a little bit? How many days and what is the focus? I've never been on a retreat. It sounds lovely.

Lordie, Dill, I needed that quote. Heavens I am wrung out today. I was really distracted at the party last night so it seemed interminable (actually it was interminable) and then I could not sleep a wink until after two and got up before five. Yet another fellow is now emailing me regarding my father, very sweet guy, remarkably respectful, kind, intelligent, I know there is a lesson here, even freedom, if I can just find a way to stay in the AF present moment. So far I am just getting awful whiplash from time travel. I hope you guys get a heat break soon, it will be delightful, the way we are here in the desert when it rains, half dressed, half crazy, running through lightening fields in terror and relief. I look forward to vicarious participation in your training, Star. I don?t recall where you be staying for it? Love to all, Ladybird.
                    may we be well

LBH, I had you in mind when I picked out that quote. I'm sorry you are going through this emotional turmoil surrounding your issues regarding your father. I know it must be difficult. "Keep calm and carry on!":l
