Hello everyone.

I am trying to look for a new place to post. Have been living in the Newbies Nest for the last 51 days but I think it’s time for me to move on and find a new place.

How does the monthly abstinence section work? Do you post a new thread every day?

Hi EVERYONE !
Mick - greetings from the bowels of the workhouse !!

YES Benji working on Sunday :upset:

Launch of a new HR system in US and of course we have to support & test.
If the US sneezes - Ireland catches a cold :H
It's ok really - I'd only lie in the leaba on Sunday anyway & the office is only 3mins from my house.
Time off tomorrow when everyone else is working :thumbs:

Morning, afternoon and evening all,

Rainy Sunday here and blowing a mini gale. Gotta heck of a sore throat today!

Public holiday tomorrow so got the whanau round for a BBQ, hope it's a bit sunnier.

Allan is a fellow Pom and we quit the same day and propped each other up in those first weeks. There the similarity ends I am afraid, he is a polite, intelligent and clean living fella and I am.......... well you all know already ! :H:H:H

Good morning Abbers!

Sunny & relatively mild here in these parts for the 21st of October. The leaves are starting to show some very nice color

Thanks for the coffee as usual Mick but I have to admit I made my own today. I picked up a bag of organic Ethiopian coffee yesterday that is just awesome. No work done - my shop is closed until I can get this situation resolved....it's gonna cost me - big time

My two hyperactive grandsons & their stressed out college student mother will be here before 3 pm - preparing as we speak :H

Welcome Allan, glad you decided to join us in the land of serious abstainers!!!! We have all been there & are finally done, once & for all with AL. Life is just so much better without that monkey on your back

Morning Staz, KY, Lav and Mick thanks for the coffee. Late check in for me had one of those crappy nights, don't think I slept at all and am feeling kinda blah today. I'll blame it on the weather. I will get going and head out to my AA meeting shortly though.

Lav, I will post here more often now. I wish I had the patience that Byrdie has with some of the newbies but it’s hard to be criticised when you are just trying to help. I still want to help the newcomers I just need to figure out how.

Just wanted to check in and say the FUNK has lifted. I'm back to being OK.
Got my arse in gear and went to my meeting, left all the "crappy" feelings there :H

Sun is out and not snowing at the moment. I plan on enjoying the rest of my day.

Greetings FABlingees! And welcome to the AF hen house, Alan. This is a great place for all of us sober chicks along with Mick the mysterious owl, Deter our resident paleo-dactyl and G-man our very own singing kookabura. It's nice to have another guy-dude around!

A lot of us seem to be afflicted with the blahs and blues lately, myself included after a stressful week of work hizha. Well.... this may sound a little bit crazy, but I am here to tell you...when everything around seems to be going to sh*t....this technique WORKS:

I smile.

As big and goofy as I can. :nutso:

And, the worst the day, the longer I make myself smile. :happy:

If no one is around...I smile. :thumbs: If I'm driving in my car....I smile. :thumbs: If I'm rushing through a store....I smile.:thumbs:

Sounds silly, but there's some real science behind this. The act of smiling unleashes a big feel-good party in our brain. Here's a link to an article that explains how a little nonsense tickles those neuropeptides:

So...just try it - no harm to it really. I'm smiling right now and OMG - I just feel so darn HAPPY!!! I'd be interested to hear how this works for you.
