TURN .....you have hit my philosophy on the head......I try to find the humour in everything.

PPQ, good to hear you shook off the nasties. Funnily I find I often wake up quite cranky AF but it passes after a little while.

Hi Allan .... See what a lovely lot of people are here? Well they would have to be to put up with me.

Talking of funny, I remember when Allan and I were coming up to our first weekend sober and Allan was panicking about filling his time. He nearly went into an apoplectic fit when I suggested that he treated himself to a high class 'lady' to take his mind off drinking! :H

Now I know him better I realise that he would probably have spent his time counseling her ...... But hey I was just trying to think OUTSIDE THE BOX! :H:H

I had such a wonderful AF weekend. Hubs was away so I got some quantity/quality time with my 17 yr old son watching movies, eating pizza, sleeping late, doing some tasks around the house. It's so good to be AF. I'm glad I'm not missing this time with him anymore. Enjoy your evening all.

I just wanted to post that my sister's friend lost her daughter yesterday--most likely to a drug overdose. I'm very sad, but not surprised, unfortunately.

There but the grace of God go any of us. Everyone give plenty of hugs for loved ones all around. I was not close to this young woman, but it is still shaking me up.

                      Long day for me Abbers.
I just wanted to stop by & wish everyone a good night!

YahYah, I am so sorry to hear about that young girl, such a shame, really.
My 18 year old nephew lost his life just a few weeks after he graduated from high school. He had just finished helping his Dad build this house, right next door to his own. This was a simple but deadly case of recklessness & driving drunk. It happened 9 years ago this summer & we all still feel his loss. I will keep all of you in my thoughts:l

                      Have a safe night everyone.

                        af day Sunday 21 Oct

                        Hi all,

I'm having a crappy, crappy couple of days for a few reasons and am feeling really blue, sad, lonely, fragile, frustrated, rejected and haunted by some ancient history. I won't go into it all - just suffice to say I hope things look up tomorrow. Work is super busy this week too so that will keep me distracted and possibly quiet.

Yah Yah and Det, I'm so sorry to hear about both those young deaths - both so terribly tragic. And your nephew too Lav. My best friend's brother died driving drunk when we were 15 years old. What made it even sadder/more bizarre was his girlfriend was in the car at the time - and she had lost her previous boyfriend in the exact same circumstances. Why you'd ever get in a car with someone who'd been drinking after that I don't know but we all know alcohol can make us do some crazy things.

MOLLY, I hope I read your earlier message wrong and you aren't leaving us? PLEASE DON'T. I love having you here and I love your posts and, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think you upset KY? (And even if you did I reckon she's big and tough enough to get past it.) In any case you didn't say anything I didn't say about the recent divisive threads and I know I wasn't having a go at KY. (Hope you knew that 'Kay?)

Anyway, as she said to me recently, 'don't be a dope…' Please stick around.

                        Welcome Allan
                        ! :welcome:

, I may have to go looking for that exchange between you and Alan about the 'high class lady'. What the? Now what would you suggest for the women amongst us pray tell? :H

                          af day Sunday 21 Oct

                          Hey Allan,

I can't remember if I commented on your thread about $$ spent on booze but I remember it. I set up a special bank account and every week I do not drink on Sunday I put $100 into it. I think this is a very conservative amount given I live in Sydney, where drinks are so expensive you can blow $100 in a night out pretty easily, AND I also quit smoking 18 months ago, but it still adds up. So far I've bought myself an iPad, a nice new dress and a fancy meal out at a top notch restaurant with that money. Have you thought about doing something similar?
