    November Survivors - week1

    Good morning everyone

We are indeed survivors. So good to log this morning and see you are ok Chill. Good luck with the move, hope all goes to plan. Glad you are out of that situation.

Rusty how's the head this morning?

Lav hope you enjoyed your meal out, you deserve it.

Papmom - I agree Halloween is no fun for pets, our goldie spent most of the evening half stuck under my daughters bed and she let her sleep there. Miss Layla had no idea what was happening but she was in enough trouble. She got into the field next door yesterday and was having great fun chasing a pony. More fencing, grrrr.

Did not get any photo, it was like a tarts convention! Did the pick up at 2.45am so all home safe and well.

Big hello to everyone else and hope it's a good November.

    Greetings from Cow Country!

Rusty, your story was frightening and awful. I am so glad you are OK! Did you have a terrible time cleaning it up? I wish I could come up there and help you!

Chill, so glad you are safely away!

Rustop, good to see you. Thanks for starting us off for November.

Pmom and Kas, greetings. I feel a little guilty too, but agree with you Pmom that it's simply nature and I have had my share of it here in Ohio at other times. In fact, Ohio gets hit quite a lot. Home owners insurance is quite expensive here!

Lav, how was dinner with YB?

All the leaves are down here now. The picture was taken last week before the storm.

I was off work yesterday and spent the day with my granddaughter. It's actually more tiring than being at work, but so worth it!

    Here's to an AF November!!:h
    Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

      Good morning Survivors!

I think I actually see some sun today
Thanks for getting us started today Rustop! I snickered at your description of 'tart convention' :H
Just goes to show we're only young once Hope your doggies have a quieter day!

Dill, those cows look awfully familiar to me :H
Dinner was OK last night & we actually stopped at our son's house in town for a few minutes to see the kids in their costumes. I have to say that overall, YB is much more tolerable when he is medicated. I'm just waiting for him to actually realize that himself.....

Chill, glad you have moved on girl!
Wish we could give you a hand unpacking

I have most of the day to myself so I'm heading to Curves then back here to work for a few hours. Then my daughter & Ms Lily show up at dinnertime for their weekly overnight AND the boys will be here for a few hours tonight while their Mama goes to her karate class.
Dill, you are so right - watching kids is totally exhausting!!!!!

Greetings papmom, lBH, Jolie & everyone. RUSTY, are you OK this morning???

OK, here we go. Wishing everyone a great AF Thursday!

          Hey nurdl!

We have an old friend from this thread by the name of cassia. She relocated from the UK to north Jersey last year. I think she landed in Hoboken or thereabouts. Papmom or anyone - have you heard from her? Just wondering

            November Survivors, We Are!

Survivors of AL, Abusive Relationships, Tarts' Conventions:H, and Silly Household Accidents!

            Good Afternoon Surviving Crew-

Wow, thank you for all the well wishes. I feel MUCH better today.. My headache is gone and today I tackled the bloody mess in the kitchen and hallways. Eww....I didn't know dried blood smelled so badly. I had to get all the bloody towels washed lest a surprise visitor should wonder where I hid the body. The whole experience brought back a horribly painful drinking memory for me. In early 2009, my mom confronted me AGAIN about going to rehab. Determined that I was NOT going but feeling anxious, helpless and scared, I proceeded to drink a fifth of vodka when I was at home alone. I vaguely remember the full weight of my 195 lb. body bouncing off my desk and then crumpling to the floor. When I woke up, I thought I had broken my ribs, but I never sought medical help because I was too ashamed. I spent the next month in severe pain, but denied it had anything to do with booze. I only learned last August when I was in the hospital for my neck injury that I indeed had broken a rib. That memory just confirms that AF is the way to be forever, because when I slipped on Tuesday night, if I had been drinking, and then lying there unconscious for 5 hours....would I have awakened? I don't know.

Pap-yes, I was released from the ER so quickly because I waited about 11 hours after I regained consciousness to drive myself to the hospital, and I arrived completely dressed, with all my make-up on, etc., so I didn't LOOK like I had a serious problem. The ER nurse did some usual checks with me so she could see if I had blurred vision, balance problems, etc., and the CAT scan came out clear. I am glad you and your family survived Sandy. You're lucky your family is close by. I am sure they appreciate a sober you so accessible to them as well.

Chill-thank God you are safe. We have been so worried. Thank you for checking in.:l

Rustop-I laughed when you wrote about the tarts' conventions, and I just giggled picturing your retriever Layla trying to stuff herself under the bed. I had no clue that Ireland celebrates Halloveeen.

Kas, I read that you have had two concussions. Was the first one when you were hit by the drunk driver? I remember reading about your horrific car accident whilst lurking on the Daily Thread a few months ago. I hope I don't have any short term memory losses.

Dill-thank you for posting that lovely photo of cow country.

Lav-I suspect your grandsons, daughter and Ms. Lily are keeping you busy at the moment. I'm glad YB paid for dinner. Yes, meds might be the answer.

Nurdl-great to see you here. I love NJ but can't stand flying into Neward.

Ok, I'm done being stuck in the house, sitting here convalescing. I'm going for a walk.

Big virtual hugs to anyone I've missed. Have a fabulous AF evening.

Hi guys - power finally back on here. I feel lucky, plenty of people here still aren't back on line...I was sure that it would be longer, so I'm surprised.

Just did a quick read backwards on the last few days - Rusty, OMG!!!! Was there no one who could have taken you to the hospital, or help you clean up the mess? I feel so bad...Please please take care, that just sounds so scary...

Chill - hope your move went OK, thanks for letting us know how you are doing. We'll still be sending protective light your way.

Glad to hear that others seem to be doing alright as well - thank goodness. Lav, I also have been wondering about Cassia. I haven't really seen anything about the storm, I just listened all the time to my battery radio, so I'm kind of out of the loop with who got hit where. Nurdl, you didn't get hit?

Take care all - Star and LBH, you guys OK too?

                Happy Thursday everyone!

Rusty -I too can't believe that you laid there unconcious for 5 hours! So glad to hear you are feeling better. Had to chuckle at the thought that you took the time to get dressed and do your makeup - I know I would have done the same thing! Seriously thought hope you take it easy for the next couple of days and mend quickly.

Cyn - glad your power is back on too. We had two storms a couple of months ago, 2 weeks apart and were without power for 3 days - no fun at all. Feeling badly for all those still without power or who have lost so much due to this storm.

Dill - what a great picture!

Lav - did YB finally listen to you and is he dealing with things now? Hope all is well.

Howdy to Nurdl, Rustop, Chill - anyone else who drops in.

Getting ready to make myself a hot cup of sleepytime vanilla tea and watch the rest of this darn Hallmark movie that's making me cry

                Peace to all!

Hi Survivors. This is the first time I've seen this thread and I thought I'd say hello.

I'm making a pot of chicken curry soup, with coconut milk, cabbage, onions and peppers. Smells delicious! Bf is playing Assasins Creed video game (do men ever grow up, really?), and I also have a new book on my Kindle to look forward to later. Life is good.

                  Hope everyone is doing well.

                    Good morning everyone

                    :welcome: Library Girl and Nurdl.

Glad you are feeling better Rusty and also relieved that you are safe and well Chill.

Lav, hope YB stays on the medication. You are great at remembering people, hope Cassia is ok. So many have passed through this thread.

Weather is getting a lot colder but compared with what US has to put up with, no complaints.

                    Dill loved the photo.

Enjoying midterm, reorganizing my wardrobe. This course has given me the incentive I need.

Big hello to Star, Cyn, LBH, Papmom and anyone else I missed.

                      Good morning to all...

Back from my trip, a great time and so worth it. I can't believe I missed so much drama with the storm, but am really happy I did miss it. The weather in the desert was warm, sunny and perfect. I had lots of outdoor time and was able to let go of my numerous worries about home, work, bills, family, and physical issues.

Rusty, thank goodness you are on the mend. What a frightening thing to happen! Take care of yourself and rest as much as you can.

Chill, so sorry to hear of the abuse you put up with...as he continues to live in the same area, I am asking you to please be cautious and on guard. I don't trust controlling abusive angry men. When you get a chance, tell us about your new home, hope it is a sweet little place, safe and comfy.

Lav, Pap, Cyn, Jolie, and all who weathered the storm. Thank goodness you are OK, all in one piece. What a storm.

Dill, the picture you posted was lovely. I cannot tell if the leaves are off our trees as I can home in the dark and it is still pitch black this morning.

                      Rustop, hello to you too.

Today I have tons to do, laundry, cleaning, shopping, banking, and just plain getting things back in order. I am glad I am off till Monday. I am having a hard time adjusting to the cold and dark. It does feel good to be home, though. OK, off to the list of chores.

To all, have a safe lovely Friday.

Welcome back Star! Glad you had such a great time. It will be an adjustment to be back home for sure but now you have a warm sunny place to go to in your head (and maybe in retirement!!)

Dill-love the pic!! What a serene scene you have to gaze upon! Leaves are off out trees completely too. I am shocked at how many leaves are on my lawn considering there are virtually no trees left! Must have blown in from the Cape :H.

Rusty-so happy you are feeling better!! What can you do to prevent a similar incident? After my two falls resulting in 2 broken wrists in 2007 and 2008, I now no longer go out without my yak tracks if there is even a hint of slickness anywhere. Oh right, the second fall was inside. Well, AL isn't in the pic anymore so I've taken care of the THAT scenario!! But anyone can slip on a tile/wood floor and come crashing down, with or w/o AL so how do we prevent falls like that?

Chill-pics please!! Are you far enough away that Mr. S won't come looking for a fight?

Lib Girl-welcome!! Please tell us about yourself!!

                        Hey Nurdl-what's happening with you?

Rustop-it's turned cold here too. Frosty even. Might have to turn the heat on. Good luck with the organizing and decluttering! LOVE doing that when I have the time!!

Lav-hope your sleepover was fun as usual! Hope YB stays on his meds!!

Hey Jolie!! Can you tell us more about what has been happening with you since your hiatus? Glad you're back!!

time to get ready for work!! Will check in tonite.

                          Good morning friends!

                          I slept a solid 8 hrs - haven't done that in years!!!!!
No sleepover, my daughter had last minute change in plans......maybe that's why I slept so well? :H

                          Welcome back Star!
Your trip sounds like is was nice, restful & relaxing
I woke up with a tender left elbow this morning for absolutely no reason. It's been cool & damp in these parts & I do have the heat on. Granny joints are no laughing matter!

Papmom, it has to be chilly where you are! Don't freeze yourself or your water pipes

I think YB is just starting to get an idea of how F'd up he really was! That's what 2 or 3 months on Cymbalta will do for you. It is HIS responsibility to stay on it though, I can only hope that he does. He is & always has been his own worst enemy.

OK, going to shove myself out to Curves then back here to get some stuff done before the girls get here this afternoon.
Wishing everyone a great AF Friday!

Good morning all - Lav, I'm so glad that you had some time off for yourself, and a good night's sleep. Dill, thanks for the pic - although we are more hilly here, it could have been taken near my house as well. Star, so glad you are home safely, and that you had a good time. Hold onto the memories! Rustop, I missed the info on what course you are taking - sounds like it is producing results for you. PMom, seriously you haven't turned on the heat yet? Welcome Library! Chill - hoping all is well and that you are not too exhausted from the move.

I'm off to finish organizing the office/den which will shortly be needed as a second guest room. During the power outage I started a big painting project in the living room - the brick fireplace is now (mostly) white, and I have trial colors for gray walls. I'm hoping to get a couple of walls painted before I leave on Monday.

                            Good AF Friday, everyone!

Good morning, good morning. Thanks Rustop for starting this months thread. I am looking forward to getting to know people better here. Dill, I love your photograph of cows and what looks like morning light.

Star, you were just in Tuscon, right? Such a wonderful place, I loved the mountains and desert there. The light was fantastic for photography, and such interesting plants and birds to photograph, we had a great time there.

Lav, you will be happy to know I followed your lead and went back to curves. Its 50 bucks a month, and Im hoping to just get a bit fitter. I dont need to be Charles Atlas or anything, but I would like to skii this winter without feeling like Im going to keel over in a snowbank and expire!

Rusty, so glad your injury was not serious, and yes it was the drunk driver who gifted me with a whole bunch of broken bones and a head injury at 17. Some old guy in a big old car and I was a passenger in my friends car on the way into see a movie. The worst part was all the hospital staff thought it was US who were the drunks. So I was kind of treated like crap for the five months I was in there, and being 17 I just figured it was the usual over 30 crowd not liking us hippies, ha ha.

Cyntree, you have reminded me I need to get a battery radio out of the storage closets and make sure it works.

And Chill, please yes describe your apartment. I fantasize about getting an apartment somewhere far away. lol!

Hello and welcome to Library Girl and Nurdl.

My schtick this morning is to go down there and finish up the big paper for the year, describing six years of vegetation change....short version: it hasnt changed much! Its a living.

Everyone have a great weekend. Love to all. If I can find a good shot from my veggie paper (lol) work I will post it.
