Happy Determined December to you all

A quick hello from me, my flight is early tomorrow and I get back Wednesday.
Its going to be a emotional rollercoaster of a trip. I have been warned that Im going to find the appearance of my dear friend extremely shocking. Im having difficultly imagining as I saw photos of her on FB just in the summer looking healthy, vibrant and full of life. How cancer devastates so quickly.

I dont want to dwell on the negative and as always when we are faced with such horrors it makes us realize what we already know but forget.... that when it comes down to it, we never say thank God in my life I had that_______ ipod, shiney car, expensive handbag or whatever, its our relationships that make our lives worthwhile and make us who we are. I intend to use the trip to tell the other amazing friends I will be reunited with just how much I love them.

It's suddenly dawned on me that we are now in December 2012!! Where in earth has 2012 gone??!! :shocked:

Have been busy with stuff around the house. Will be leaving later in the week to help my daughter out after a minor medical procedure so time off work and a change of pace. Can you believe the weather? It is going to be in the 60s today, at other times we have had a foot of snow. It is so dry and warm....it is nice, but I realize not good for the environment, maybe. So, after grocery shopping, I will walk outside and maybe bike ride. Crazy.

Morning guys! I'm so sorry for worrying you all! I truly had not realized how long I had been gone!! Everything is fine and Lav nailed it on the head: busy furmom!

Chill-hope you have a safe trip and that you are able to provide some comfort to your friend. It will probably be the hardest thing you've done since you've been AF-stay strong and know that we are here for you. :h

Everyone else sounds as busy as me so I feel very badly I haven't hopped on. FB is easy-hit the share button and it's done!! The baby quilt is done and I will post as soon as I can. I've also started the prayer shawl (10 times!!). Finally got it this time but not sure it will be finished in time. :upset:

Heading out to W. MA this morning-long commute on slippery roads. Hope the store is busy. I'm suspecting they sell christmas trees/wreaths etc as it's a garden place too so it should be hopping.

Kas-glad you are enjoying Hawaii-I know you can't help but anaylyze everything but try to relax too OK? Your posts are fascinating tho and the chicken pic was the best!!

I am attending a bridal shower for my niece today (b-o-r-i-n-g) but I will be there with my daughter & DIL. Honestly, I have no interest in this stuff anymore.

December Determination

I am in for December, there always seems to be a year's worth of social events slammed into a few better-be-merry, alcohol fueled weeks. I am going to make peace my priority. I went to an opening reception at an art gallery on Friday and the theme was "Black to White", everything was black, white, or grey, what a departure from the traditional holiday fare and remarkably serene and beautiful. Yesterday it was absolutely crazy in the 'hood. The main street with all the little shops and my grocery was closed until midnight for "Shop and Stroll" and the "Twinkle Light Parade", people descending from all over the city, busses and cars rerouted, even the indigenous herd of dog walkers grew exponentially. It is actually a great place to shop and under less intense circumstances, I found most of our gifts at a free trade store (think Zulu, Andes co-ops etc) or handmade tamales made with things like pinon masa and filled with a butternut squash and green chile ragu. They even make tamales with duck confit. Yesterday Lord Bird Heart and I hid out except for a circuitous trip to an afternoon open house at a tiny Sicilian grocery owned by friends and then, avoiding accident and wayward Santa impersonators on the way, home to an evening of the Netflix Cure for Everything be it alcohol cravings or consumer toxicity. Our increasingly crabby elderly parrot has fallen in love with the Tai Chi Lord Bird Heart and I are now learning, so we also had to perform a bit for him at great benefit to us all. Today it is a day at home with little projects and some of those tamales. Tomorrow night the next party?. Even Mondays have parties. Peace. I don't think I told you Lav, listening to the sounds of tranquil hens, all of those murmurs, croons, and creaks, is one of my favorite things also. The picture Kas took is so lovely, hypnotic. Speaking of Kas, Kas, Bosque is a little over a hour south of my front door so it is an easy trip on an open desert highway for sunset and back for dinner. I am sure you have seen such things in your work and travels, but when all of the tens of thousands of cranes and geese fly in it seems to me to be completely impossible. I don't know where else I have been so astonished. Blithering. Love to everybody. Ladybird.
