Ok, Kas, I won't keep you guys in suspense any more!!

I GOT THE JOB! I GOT THE JOB!! Now mind you, I won't be a millionaire or even remotely close on the salary but it's 2K more than I'm making now AND they will do a review in 60 days and then bump me up 2K more!! Deal!! They had originally offered 3K less than what I'm making. I countered with 10K more than the offer (cheeky I know!) and they came back with what I accepted. AND they acknowledged my qualifications and experience which was music to my ears! I start on the 21st of January. My current boss is not a happy camper as you can imagine and wants to counter. I told him some of the terms I would accept (maybe) but didn't tell him what salary would make me stay. His boss won't approve a counter anyway so I'm not at all concerned I may have to make a decision. I'm so ready to leave! I'm on top of the world right now and can't wait to tell my family on Christmas Day. It will be the best surprise evah as I think I mentioned before they don't even know I applied for another job. the commute is about the same in distance, a tad shorter in time and MUCH prettier! If the weather is too bad I have the option of taking the highway almost the whole way.

I would like to thank all of you for your unwavering support these past 2 years when I went through disappointment after disappointment. Without you guys and everyone on the daily thread, I don't think I would have survived everything and stayed AF. There are a few very special people that I want to anonymously acknowledge for taking a lot of time out of their off line lives to work with me on resumes, confidence and negotiating skills. You know who you are and I love you for everything you did for me.

Whew! I am exhausted! I am sleeping in tomorrow and then finishing up the shopping.

Kas-that is a snow fall for sure!! Absolutely gorgeous but sure wouldn't want to shovel it!!

I'm so glad our mid west friends are OK and survived the blizzard unscathed. The paper told about the multicar accident in Iowa I believe with 2 deaths and 5 other deaths scattered across the region. Shiver.

Good morning,

Pap, congrats on the job!! I knew you would find something since you were so persistent. You are such a fighter, love to hear it.

The weather here was no big deal, barely any snow, a little ice, but really, compared to what we are used to, the media again overexaggerated. I do realize others got nailed with snow. Still, the reports caused concern for no reason.

It's getting closer to Christmas and I have lots of little things to do. Will be making a list shortly.

Rusty, it is annoying when clients do not follow up or follow through...wonder if it is like that in any business. I bet it is so pretty with the snowfall...it is beginning to look alot like Christmas.

Kaslo, your area is getting snowfall amounts that used to be our normal; beautiful, and have a lovely time on your trip to Vancouver.

I am looking for ideas for vegan appetizers...will look on the fatfreevegan site but wondered if any of you have any favorites you might like to share. My family was sent a gift of a ham dinner with sides and we had it last night...it was gross, salty and just not what we are used to. So, I decided to make more vegan stuff for variety in the next few days.

Lav, I too have alot of cooking/maybe baking to complete along with house cleaning. But, when I know guests are coming I don't go to crazy cause everything gets messy with more people in the house. Are you having a full house this holiday?

Hello everyone - Lav, loved your story of the pots and pans, and so glad that YB came around in a small but happy way.

I had the most interesting dream yesterday morning, just before the solstice. I was in a city, trying to get to some appointment. I had to wait several times for trains to go by before I could proceed. After the last train went by, I saw that I had been joined by a big horse (like an Icelandic or something), shaggy black but with a blue aura around him. He basically indicated that he should take me where I was going. I hopped on bareback, and we traversed the city (even going up escalators together!) and through metal traffic gates, you name it, magically. Much more to the story, but it ended up that I met my group, and one of the senior women (a wealthy woman that I know in real life - wearing a royal blue ribbon with a blue gem) gave me a set of keys. I'm hoping that this bodes well for all of us here in my 'group' - a sparkling entrance, with a bit of a journey of course, into the new light.

Hope all have a peaceful day. We drove late last night 4 hours round trip to pick up husband's daughter at the airport, and I've awakened to a beautiful snowy scene - yay! It will be hectic in the coming days, and I fly out to the midwest on Monday, so I may not get time to post, but please know that I'm thinking of you all, and wishing you peaceful happy days -- Cheers!

Star, ham = gross, I have to agree :H
I bought the smallest piece of ham I could find & the largest turkey breast I could find for the family carnivores. They will all be here Christmas Eve for dinner & gifts.
I have gathered what I need for my two fav vegan appetizers - yum

Bean Quesadillas | VegWeb.com, The World's Largest Collection of Vegetarian Recipes
Tex-Mex Layered Dip | Yummly

I do the quesadillas on a table top sandwich grill but you can do them in the oven as directed.
I use corn tortillas to keep them gluten free.

I add a layer of finely sliced lettuce & some black olives to the Tex Mex dip. By using vegan cheddar cheese shreds & vegan sour cream - you save a boatload of fat & calories
The whole crew loves both of these appetizers!

I have tons to do myself plus I need to travel back to visit the cemetary(s) & leave something for my parents & grandparents.

I had sort of job news yesterday too but not sure what to make of it. My friend that I've been helping out who has The Happiness Academy has asked me to consider being her business partner. She isn't looking for financial input just time and effort but my concern is whether we can make a living or not, so far she is barely covering costs. She has a couple of seminars booked for next year but that's all. I would also have to get a qualification in coaching to add to my knowledge of NLP. The thought of standing up and speaking terrifies me as I've never done it but I know it's something you get used too. Most of what she wants from me would be the marketing side and social media growing which I could do. She wants an answer by the beginning of the year. My thoughts would be to accept on the proviso that I would need to review it in 3 months time and if we weren't making money I would need to find work elsewhere. I have just about enough savings to do this and I guess if it did work I would be doing my dream job, making people happy!

thank you all for the wonderful congrats and well wishes! I am still pinching myself for it's hard to believe the long hard search is over!!

Chill-What does your gut say? Do you smile and hug yourself when you think about working for your friend and investing in her business (with your time and creativity)? Or do you feel dread and fear? I know you will make the right decision for you.

How was your party the other nite? I haven't been to a real party outside what my sister has a couple of times a years since I went AF. I'm not sure I would want to go to one. I'm such a homebody now adays!

Well it's windy and very cold out. Very windy actually. We had some flakes this afternoon but the sun was out too so it wasn't significant.

I have 99% of my shopping done now. I'll pick up scratch tickets for the yankee swap on xmas eve and then that's it.

Tomorrow morning DD and i will go on a group walk about 30 min away. The woman who leads it welcomes reactive dogs and a few of us will meet 30 min early to do some BAT exercises (Behavioral Adjustment Training). I went to a seminar held by the creator of this method this summer and really enjoyed it. The only problem is that I don't have anyone to practice with. I'll be able to go to this walk/session tomorrow and next sunday but then only once a month due to work. Its better than nothing and hopefully we'll both get something out of it.

Long day here but it was good for getting lots of stuf done

Chill, does your friend have any sort of business plan? What does she project to bring in next year? Working with a friend may sound like a good idea but it doesn't always work out. I had that experience & no longer have that friend

Rusty, I am compelled to make the same thing year after year for Christmas Eve dinner but now with a twist. More vegan for me & gluten free for my daughter. I always loved a challenge :H

Shopping is done, baking is done, one or two things left to wrap. Tomorrow I will start om food prep & we're good to go
