      January Generosity - week 1

Good morning all, and hellooo to Sooty. Your name is lovely, the little yellow bear with the black ears who could only be understood by wispering into the ear of his puppeteer. Canadians had a similar long running Childrens show named the Friendly Giant. I think you were here when I first started reading this site in February of 2011.

TDN youve done well and are near the end. Are you actually driving yet?

Lav, I dont think well I KNOW I could not lift 150 pounds now. Although I had no problems in the day.

All others before me, Dill, LBH, Rusty, Star and all others, my saturday salutations to you all. Several people have mistaken me for being a male, and indeed, I am a stocky grey matron with a stoic expression, and a long list of ecotoxicological relationships swirling around in my head at all times. As we get older, we become more like the opposite sex. On both sides of the chromosomal anatomy. In fact we only are mostly one sex or the other for the middle portions of our lives, and many many creatures of the field and stream have quite complex sexualities. Which makes all the fuss made about LGBTs such a lot of ill informed palaver. My thought for the day.

Yesterday I submitted a partially written paper something I hate to do, and offered to not continue for the client, and heard nothing until he sent me something else to read and include in my ongoing documentation of substance X and its effects on receptors Y. So I guess that is an indication I am still in business. A day off today though. Cold, minus 6, sun peaking out. Have the plague though, so staying in I think.

Every day I give thanks for this place that helped me save myself.

      Love to all

      K

        January Generosity - week 1

        Good evening all,

Kaslo, the 150 pounds of chicken feed is broken up into 3 50 pound bags but I still don't want to have to haul all that myself, in & out of the car, into the chicken house, etc......just too damned old at this point! YB suggested we stop & pick up EB on the way so we made a nice afternoon of it
Question.....if I turn into a man, doe sthat mean I'll be stuck doing all the lifting in the fiture? :H:H
Looks like your client is not ready to let you go Kas

OK, wishing everyone a warm & cozy night!

Lav, dahlink, we dont turn INTO men. Its just that hormonally we start to switch sides a bit as we age. We get a few chin hairs, they get saggy boobs, YOU know. We both tend to get grumpier. OR sweeter, depending on our natural dispositions. As for when we we are small children, well, whats the difference, really?

I'm still not so sure about your theory Kas. If you could see the role reversals that have occurred in this household :H :H

Good morning everyone! Had a light covering of snow over night & it's chilly this morning but the sun is out so all is well

I need to get myself out to the supermarket & figure out what to feed people today, hmmm.
No big plans for me & that's perfectly OK as I'm still feeling a bit tired.
Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Sunday!

              good morning generous friends!!

Boy, gone 2 days and look what I've missed!

Welcome back Sooty! We have missed you and your bus driving skills. Please don't ever leave us again-aren't we much more interesting, kind supportive than that ugly ole beast??

TDN-well, you do know the nickname of your neighboring state, right? Doesn't suprise me at all you have to take another class. the fingers of greed reach out for long distances!! I do hope you will take care of yourself with this lung bug. If it hadn't been the holiday break for us I would have had to take at least 6 sick days because of it. Not fun. How was dinner with the birthday boy?

Dill, star, rusty, Kas with the plague, LBH-please get plenty of rest and fluids. we are so suceptible this time of year and this flu that is going around doesn not to seem have any respect for the flu shots we all got (and we all did, right?)

Rusty-that pic was to die for!! I would literally kill to have that to open my door to. and the peak we got of the view!! Oh my!! I think you need to come east and do some interior design for me. My house is NOT a comfy, homey haven. It never has been. It's a mess, with no decor or rhyme or reason and I HATE coming home to it. Except for the animals of course.

Did manage to go back to work on Friday and did pretty good although I hate coughing up my lungs in public. I hit the wall at 4:30 and left. When I said goodbye to my boss, he rolled his eyes and said "I really want to be a fly on the wall when you end up having to put in 14 hours days at your new job". I just laughed at him and said that wouldn't happen and I told them that in the interview. "If you are looking for someone to work 80 hours a week for you, don't hire me". . He looked stunned!! :H

I worked my first demo in 2 weeks yesterday and didn't fare as well. I was wanting my bed the whole time. After work tho, I had to hit the mall as I had to return some clothes my sis bought me for my birthday which of course are too small. the box has been in my car since then and this was the first time I was even close to the store they came from. What a disaster. NOTHING fit or looked good so I have a $40 gift card I have no idea what to do with. So depressing.

Last week I took the plunge and cancelled my DirecTV as of tomorrow. I used the Amazon GC my bro gave me for xmas and ordered an RCA multidirectional antannae and a Roku. Set all that up last nite and unhooked the satellite stuff. I get 22 over the air channels with the antannae which is awesome but the jury is still out on the Roku. The free channels it comes with are not anything I would watch. I signed up for a free week long trial of Huluplus but again, very disappointed so far in the TV show offererings. I'm not a movie person so that may be part of the problem. I'll have to do some more searching but I may end up not paying for a hulu subscription and just making do with the local channels and an occassional movie if I find one I like. the set up of the Roku was wicked easy and I will be saving $70-80 a month by not having DirecTV. that is significant for me and I'm very excited. I will miss Storage Wars, American Pickers and Pitbulls and Parolees tho. I can always buy full episodes on Amazon but that goes against my grain, sort of like buying books when I have an amazing regional library system to get books from. We'll see.
Today is a lazy day and hopefully saying goodbye to the illness. I'll read the sunday paper (if it ever gets here), maybe do some laundry and dishes and then head out at 3:30 for the Lively Paws class with DD. At least this time I'll feel 100% better than last Sunday. Oh, and yesterday at the demo I met one of the trainers I worked with 4 years ago. Paid her $100/3 to work with DD. Sort of worth it. Anyway, we had hooked up through FB without realizing who each other was. Yesterday she was talking about her fearful dog training classes and walks she does and all of a sudden the light bulb went on over both our heads at the same time!! Her reactive dog walks are MUCH closer than the one I went on 2 weeks ago so I am psyched AND she does them on weeknights in the spring/summer so hopefully my shedule will mesh with hers. It really is a small world!!
Off to fix some brekkie and feed the pack.

                Good Morning AF Generous Ones,

Papmom-where are you? Has anyone heard from our esteemed Furmom?

                Sooty-how are you doing?

Chill-how are you? I know you were busy on Friday night. So what's his name?:H

TDN-I hope you're feeling better. Did you get a chance to go out to dinner to celebrate your husbands B-day or were you too sick? Let me know about the books. I have a few books on alcohol addiction....very informative and fascinating. I'm happy you heard from the DMV. Can you take that safety course right away? I think working in a floral shop would be so fun. When I decided to quit drinking, I wanted to develop some new hobbies, and so the woman who works in the floral department of our local grocery store gave me some free lessons. Fresh flower bouquets in my house give it an inviting look, and I find the arranging of the flowers to be very relaxing.

Lav-I'm glad you had a nice time with YB and EB (Energizer Bunny-Lav's 4-year-old grandson) Isn't he 4 yet, Lav? Please be careful lifting those 50 lb. bags. One of my clients told me that's how she got two herniated discs in her neck.

Dill-Congratulations to your daughter for opening up her new wine bar. That's ironic, isn't it? It made me smile, though. An entrepreneur and businesswoman at such a young age....good for her. Not long and you will be on your Alaskan cruise. (Insert jealous pout here)

Hippy-I read on the meds thread that you are on Baclofen and Antabuse. Isn't the Baclofen wonderful for anxiety? I love your new avatar, too.

Star-as far as being tired, no, I have more energy than ever now that my doctor increased my thyroid medication. However, in previous years, yes, in the winter I was tired all the time because the days were so much shorter.

Kaslo-I, too, have been mistaken for a man....a gay man. I can't tell you how many PMs I have gotten from people here asking me that question. So, my standard reply is, "No, I'm 51, red hair, single, never married, no kids." Then I never hear from them again.:H

Hello to newcomers Merry, Jada and Stella, and long-term friends LBH, Rustop, Cyntree, Mr.G, and anyone I may have missed, have a fabulous AF Sunday!

Papmom-sorry, cross post. Thank you for your kind words about my fireplace. Yes, that fireplace and the kitchen are what sold me on this condo. The fireplace and hearth were actually a dark-brown brick when I moved in....very dated....so I had it painted, and it only cost $300 to do it. And the kitchen has cherry cabinets, and Viking appliances. The rest of the place-oh, to say it was dated is an understatement. I was here 3 years before I could afford to buy new furniture, etc. I loved your response to your boss about the 14-hour days. Sour grapes on his part. I bet you let out a wicked little cackle when you went out to your car. Well, you wouldn't be leaving if he had compensated you better.:goodjob:

I'm off to the gym but I will be back later. I hope you feel better really soon, Pap.:l

                    January Generosity - week 1

                    Good morning.

Pap, I guess I have something like what you had. I rarely get sick, but when I do, it is usually awful! Yesterday I felt bad, but last night I was in agony. My throat was SO sore--could barely swallow and could not sleep. Have been taking Vitamin C, Advil and got some Zicam yesterday. Also took some degongestant/cough stuff anticipating that it will go to my chest next. My nose is completely clogged and my head feels like it will explode! I did not get a flu shot--never do, and I don't think this is the flu. I had a similar thing one year when we had plans to go to Maine for a Christmas Stroll. We had already paid for one of the two nights, and it as non refundable, so we lost that money. Our friends went and told us they kne the hotal had been able to sell the room. Anyway, I was in bed for about three days. I'm hoping I won't be in bed after today

Pap, I lived in that state for most of my life, but am happy that we "escaped" in 1993! I know of several nick names--as well as a nick name for the residents:H I am really not happy about having to do that course, but I have no choice.

Your boss sounds like quite the jerk!!! I am so happy that you'll soon be rid of him! Have they found a replacement?

So sorry that I thought that Sooty was a man:H I was sure that somebody said that Mr G would be happy not to be the only man here. Anyway, I think that maybe Rusty's and Kaslo's names led to people thinking that you were men!! LOL.

I am reading the MacKenzie Phillips book, and it is pretty amazing what kind of life she had from a young age, with all kinds of drugs provided by her father. I hope to read a lot of it today. Also watching Turner Classic Movie channel.

Hope everyone has a great AF day!

Forgot to say, Rusty, that working in the flower shop can be stressful, if you can believe it! It is fast paced, and there isn't enough help. But I love being around flowers! I actually put together a dozen vased roses yesterday, which isn't as easy as it sounds. But they looked great! And then I had to do an arangement for a church, and luckily had a model to copy, as we had an arangement one of the designers had made the day before for delivery yesterday. I would love to learn more, but there is never any time--never seems to be any slow days there. You were lucky to get that training.

Happy Sunday, troops. Pap, the cynicism of your current boss must undermine his whole operation and the remark to you was for him embarrassingly hostile?I am glad you are out of there. Busy bee around here doing winter organizing and clean-up of paper...taxes, address books, insurance, file cabinet, correspondence, prior year, new year...the whole catastrophe. I am having fun organizing all sorts of new things electronically, and it has been peaceful for the most part. An exception has been the occasional intrusion of a very loud old parrot mimicking (horrors) the smoke alarm. Only louder. After he followed a screaming alarm with a stern "STOP IT" in my voice and then laughed, I actually gave up and ordered some expensive Bose noise canceling around the ear headphones; in his old age he can latch onto something like this for days and I want to retain our cordial relationship and not expose the poor old fellow to the "f" word which could come back to haunt us both. All I need is a bird who screams "shut the f up" which is what I am frequently thinking. Right now he is softly babbling and giggling a mix of "be my Valentine", "good birdie", and "free at last"; may he please he keep it up or take a nap. I did not spring for overnight on the headphones. Hope you are starting on the mend TDN, being sick adds another layer of stress. Hi Lav, Star, G, Sooty, Dill (I sent you an email), Kas, Chill, Cyn, Hippy et. al. Love, Ladybird.
                        may we be well

LBH-I laughed so hard when you told us about your parrot and dropping the "F" bombs. Only you could create the illustrative verbiage so we may virtually be with you and your parrot.:H

TDN-oh how I know how stressful your job can be. The ladies in the floral dept. of our grocery store are very stress when it comes to high school graduations. I have a very healthy respect for what you do. I hope you are feeling better.

Pap-how are you doing? Feeling any better? I am still working on getting to know Photobucket so I could post pics like you, Lav and Kaslo.

I am doing just great tonight...peaceful, but wishing that my friends here and I could all gather in my living room. See the top 1/4 of the Christmas tree. The pre-lit lights on the pre-lit tree just gave out recently.:H

My visit with daughter, SIL and grandson is going wonderfully. We all got together (son and his kids and an Uncle and Aunt) today and had our Christmas. I'm exhausted, but happy. AF Goodnight to all.
