    January Generosity Week 3

    Good morning Rusty & everyone

    Cold & sunny here
Today is also my daughter's BD. I don't know how it's possible she is 36 - yikes! She is treating herself to a haircut & color today, nice

I mentioned to Chill about my need to live in a Drama Free Zone! Essential in keeping my quits & I think it's probably a good idea for all of us.
I refuse to be drawn into other people's BS. Chill needs to refuse to accept the craziness of said psycho bitch, we are all with her

Nice on all the new work you are manifesting there Rusty!

OK, off I go to the land of dog hair & dust bunnies :H
Have a great day one & all!
    Lav

I gently cultivate a drama free zone myself. Deceleration is my approach when things get intense. Although Rusty, my love, I would indeed not mind stirring things up with an injured foot and an evening gown...a bit of vulnerability and humor never hurt. Enjoy your time at home by the fire. Morning Lav. Love Ladybird.
      may we be well

        Greetings All,
Lav, that recipe sounds delicious! I read it just now and it sounds easy, too. I am toying with the idea of halving it because 9x13 is too much for us right now. I watch Netflix on my laptop too, but Mr. D likes to watch it on the big screen TV, so he does the technical stuff to make that happen. Thanks for the mention of the documentary about stress. I?ll try to see that one when I have some time. Sounds very interesting!

Rusty, what color is your hair now?! Red, blonde, mousy brown or gray? :H
My son has always had minor digestive issues. Now that he has had this bout of pancreatitis I HOPE he has the same issues as your brother in that he can?t tolerate even a little alcohol. That would be a blessing in disguise.

Hippyman, getting a dog has to be the best reward ever for going af! Congrats on rewarding yourself in such a fulfilling way. We on this thread all love pets. They bring so much peace and joy. What kind of dog is Abagail? My current dog is a cane corso/lab mix. She?s a female, one and a half years old. She was one when we got her and we are pretty well adjusted to each other?s ways now. I LOVE her!!!

TDN, I don?t think I mentioned my son having a drink problem ever before. In fact, I have just recently become really concerned about it because his consumption seems to have gone up recently and I think he is in denial about it. I pretty much don?t come on here to talk about other people?s alcohol problems, just mine. Guess that?s why I didn?t mention it.

        Chill, :h.

Papmom, that?s great that you are finding and keeping balance. Kudos to you. I?d like a new hair-do, too. I quit coloring a few years ago though. Mine is all grown out and is a soft golden white. I rather like it but it is aging. Oh well. It is what it is. I try to make up for it by acting young! There?s a lot to be said about demeanor. I know colleagues 20 years younger than me that act like they are ancient!

Catbuddy, I had never heard of arnica so your mention of it sent me googling. Sounds like a good remedy for arthritis and other aches. I?ll look for it.

Star, thanks for your kind words re: my son. Yes, I worry about him and almost even more so now. He says he is going to make life-style changes but doesn?t say he?ll cut out alcohol, just cut down. When I talk to him about how stressful his life is and that may also have led to this illness, he refuses to see it. He?s in total denial about his stress levels. I think he is in denial about a lot of things and that is his coping mechanism. I wish I could get through to him, I really do. I hope your son keeps his drinking under control. We know how easily dependence sneaks up on us.

LBH, (or is it LBB?) I?m glad your injury is not as serious as you first thought and that you will not be restricted. Nothing worse than having one?s wings clipped!:h

G, thanks for the extra TLC. Definitely needed here! You may be close in age to my son (30). Do you have any suggestions?

Update on my son: He is still in hospital but has been allowed solid foods today. If he reacts without an increase in pancreatic enzymes he will be released tomorrow. He?ll be scheduled for a gall bladder surgery, too.

It?s a beautiful sunny day here. We plunge into the deep freeze tomorrow. Enjoy an AF Saturday, stop to give awareness to and enjoy something today, whatever it may be.
        Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Hi LBH! Not too much dancing today, OK? :H

Dill, I sure hope your son is discharged soon - the shorter the hospital stay the better
Maybe, just maybe in his discharge plan there could be a mention & some suggestions on dealing with his stress?! We all need some help with stress relief at some point & it shouldn't be with AL. How about the VA? Now that I think about it, one of my brothers (Vietnam vet) did receive some help from the VA, recently too for ongoing emotional issues related to his service. By the way, he has a huge drinking problem
Whatever your son decides to do, I hope he feels better very soon

I have about had it with the cleaning chores here today ~ the rest will just have to wait ~ because I said so :H

hey everyone! Thanks for all the well wishes! One more day at my "old" job and then a holiday and then...... A new Start on Tuesday!! Doesn't seem quite real yet!
Had a lovely time "out west" today. Demo was fun, my bro and his son stopped by to see me and then I met them back at their house and we all went to Northampton for the afternoon and a fairly early dinner. My neph loved the scarf I crocheted him and wore it all afternoon! He is getting so big and so smart. Conversations with him are the same as talking with another adult sometimes!! I really need to move out that way ASAP before he's off to Harvard or something at an early age!!

Rusty-congrats girl on your new surprise consulting job!! It is amazing what the Universe offers us when we open ourselves to receiving it isn't it??? You never could have predicted this success 8 months ago!!

Dill-Oh I sure hope you son is out of there soon. I'm sorry he's in such denial about what is going on in his life. I pray he will take any help offered. :l

              Hi Techie and Mr G!!

Hippyman-that is so cool you got yourself a dog when you went AF. No turning back now right?

TDN-good luck with the interlock. Is it supposed to go off when you are actually driving if you passed the breathing test? I hope you can get that straightened out. What a pain!!

              Lav- Thank you!!

              Chill-hang in there. love ya!!

LBH-keep up the good work taking care of that ankle.

Hey Star, Sooty, Rustop-who we missing? Kas?? Is your heat back on?

                Hi Dill.

Wishing your son a full and lasting recovery. I will likely have suggestions on all manner of subjects! :H But what area are you talking about? His recovery?

I'm not one to give advice, but i can certainly give a perspective or some feedback if you'd like.

Hi Rusty! Hope you're well. As requested Mam Guittarista - YouTube

I'm not sure what I'm asking really. I guess I am wondering how to get him to see his drinking realistically...snap him out of denial. I don't know if that's possible. I think I was pretty much the same way for a few years before I came on here!

Papmom, what stitch did you use for the scarf for your nephew? What color(s)? I'm really excited for you starting your new job! How far is the drive?

Lav, my son went to the VA to deal with some of his issues but he just got the run-around and got no help. I think his case manager was a burn-out or something because I heard the opposite story from Don's cousin who went there recently and was given all sorts of help.

It's so cold outside and the wind so strong and bitter! I'm glad I got out for a walk yesterday because it's too windy today. Looks like an indoor day, maybe some baking? Mr. D has been asking me to bake some biscotti for him..... Happy AF Sunday.

I started the new week 4 thread before I saw this a.m.'s posts. Sorry about that!

Dill, hope your son can get some help soon. I love biscotti, and we have a place that sells what are called "odds and ends" for a good price. We buy almond, chocolate, anise, and I just gto cranberry walnut, and like those too much:H I have never made my on, but should start.

                      Hi, Lav!
