MAE, all my abber friends.

Wonderful day coming. My valentine this year is my sweetie pie boy, and I'm celebrating how wonderful being a sober mom is. My dad used to send chocolates every year to his girls (whether or not we were involved with men). I always saw this relationship with him as the standard for love - unconditional, unerring. So today I give that to my son. And I call my dad!!!!!!

Interesting question on tolerance. One thing I'm really grateful for, TT - when folks here upset me, I can move on so fast. I picture in contrast sitting in a group meeting, listening to them, being trapped by the process to give them airtime. This is so much better.

Mollyka and RC, so nice you guys are dropping in regularly. RC told me about the army thread when I was first moving out of the nest. It is a great, great bunch, but largely in the same time zone, so I didn't think I could be a part of the flow with 8 hours difference. So now we get the benefit of you guys on this thread! Wonderful.

I'm wearing red today.

Wow.

I am trying to follow after many days in the hospital with my mom "mum."

I read

Puddinhead' Wilson"s

book by Mark Twiin and was "blown away" how alert he was to what was going on here in the U.S. The mid-1980s.

He knew how horrible the travesty was that he was witnessing. He believed in humanity, at the end of the day.

He did not care about his alcoholism, he cared about the humanity of what was going on.

Today, we think there is no prejudice amongst people. The south of the USA is VERY careful not to enact that prejudice but it may happen nonetheless.

However, the rest of the world may not understand or care.

What makes me sad today is that there is much prejudice against the migrant workers, i.e. the Mexicans, and the hate fomented against them, be it real or imagined, and what lives we lead.

I believe in the "a child born in this country is a citizen of this country." I will stand of for that, no matter what. I understand that there area desperate women who will do no matter what do what they do.

If I was in the same situation, I would do it, also.

What is sad, is that those who come across the border and seek health care and life for their children have so much more services available than those who live in our country "legally" as opposed that those who do not.

End of my banter.

My daughter ran up a $17K bill at her hospital a few years ago. It is not paid yet. More importantly, she could use so many more benefits today and cannot.

Hi all, daily check in - happy VDay :H Gave my girls cards to thank them for all the love and support over the last tough year or two.
It is national donate life day too for all those who are regsitered to be organ donors - it is a thank you (enough of work now).
TT - I used to get upset or bothered by other peoples posts, and then I realised this was my journey and my needs to be AF, so I should not let others get to me. I now just go to places where I feel comfortable and even safe, and hope that I can contribute there - and in doing that maintain my balance and continue on my journey. To each there own - maybe selfish, but it is self preservation.

Back to doing my staffs appraisals - bah humbug!!! Not my idea of fun, but it has to be done (so they tell me) - would much rather spend my time with them getting the work done!

I had to work late and hate it when I do, but feel better that all the stuff is off my plate.

TT....I have not seen the avatar. I will say that I have had to give up some TV shows. Cougar Town....the whole show is about wine! What I find silly is the poor representation....because if you drink as much wine as they do....you would not be all cheery like they are in the morning. But, its not real life. They actually had an episode where Courtney Cox gave up wine....and it showed her getting all this stuff done.....THEN they held an intervention for her to "Please start drinking again". Uggh!

GG....glad to see you back. You helped me today....as my mind started to wander right to my ass thinking....got my head back on straight.

SF - I hope, with all my heart that none of us have return to head banging. We just need to finally accept, once & for all that we cannot drink AL safely anymore. I am pretty sure that we are all smart enough & quite capable of doing that. Am I right?

super happy Valentines day here in garlic land I'm happy to report!

DX and I had a magnificent day, I made a fancy Jordanian inspired dinner, then we went out and watched not one but two movies. now we are home snuggling and continuing our great day. disgusting aren't we? so happy to have found my joy again.
