    af day Fri 15 Feb

    M.A.E.

Hi guys -just letting you know I am fine here - late start to the Friday thread - its nearly Saturday. Super busy week and I need to get back to writing else something in a sec. This is a procrastination break as well...

Hey I am not bothered about that avatar. - I only stumbled on it cos I was looking at the 'Stress' thread in this monthly abstinence section that was so kindly posted by PPQP a few days ago. I personally don't feel any urge to drink these days (long may she last). I was genuinely also thinking about other peeps - who might be on shaky ground and are sensitive to images. But clearly its no big deal and we move on...
Lavande and SF - TV don't bother me - cos I hardly watch any and I can turn it off - or just fast forward, watch on demand etc. I am one of those irritating people who pulls TV shows to pieces - usually with a very bad sense of humour.

Kuya - liked you little 'profile'. You sound like a lot of Kiwis!
Agree completely with you on the moderating front. Bit weird - 'cos I sort of moderate my consumption of some foods - eg icecream - but then I don't have to work at that and icecream is not (yet) a problem for me - I have yet to drown in buckets of the stuff every night!
Its just such a relief to not even bother moderating AL - but many folks on MWO do this - so good luck to their route.
Hi SL - nice wee gesture re the V. cards for your lassies! Liked your Valentine's love for your wee laddie Cat. I haven't tried the Army thread (dopey me thought it was for Alkies who were in or ex-military!!!!! Just going by the title).
Hi there GG - we haven't been formally introduced - I am the annoying git that PPQP refers to - usually start the threads cos of my time zone and also I get up hours and hours before Kuya (thats a joke and I know she can take it!). Soon to change as sunrise is getting later here.

happy Abby Friday to the rest - whats your nickname for Friday (hump Wednesdays? Fat Tuesday?). maybe something that begins with F..? On that note I will leave the obscenity to others to take up...

TGIF !! Is all I can say.
I slipped last night but managed to upright myself in double quick time and here I am to tell the tale

I love Coronation Street ( for those Brits and Kiwi's.. not sure if you have it in the States?) but all week I have been wondering how many units of booze do those characters drink!!! They are just ALWAYS in the Rovers, and how come Carla can drink so much Red wine and still have those chiseled cheekbones???Beggars Belief! Of course in real life I think she is a teetotaller!

I think anyone still not sold on the abject destruction booze can cause need only look at Gazza ( Paul Gascoigne.. one of THE greatest footballers).. OMG that poor guy is now in life or death one final attempt rehab in Arizona at 45yrs old.. I watched a video of him a week before he went in and I almost cried.. the state of him.. very very sobering.

Hope you all have a great AF MAE

      Hi TT & Patrice

Thanks for starting TT - I'm too easily confused with the threads, despite being in the same time zone!
Just looked at pics of Paul and he looks haggard! Didn't know he had problems! EDT, just read more about Gazza (in the Sun!!) they're having readers do a whip round for his rehab?!! Guess he and his mates drank away all their money.

Glad to see you back on board after last night Patrice!

Off to make some gluten free pizzas. Have a Fab Friday

Fraid I am not a regular Sun or daily Mail kind of girl. I make do with the crappy media with have in NZ. But I don't mind some escapism and the boozing on TV (and the sex, the cheekbones, the shoes) - (By the way what happened to Shue Addict???) of course is just that - escapism. And as we know its bloody real and serious here - there is no photo shop or rarely in my neck of the woods - any make-up artists, masses of servants, savvy lawyers to clean up for us the next day. We have to wake up and deal with our shit - as well as that of others. If we want to look at a sad footballer - George Best said it all I suppose.

Good on you Patrice for kicking yourself and I am sure there will be some Lavantitude and Kuya to follow up on this one and others with some tough love.

Kuya - are you doing the wedding party this weekend? Have a fab time. I finally have to face up to the reality that some men are coming to redo my kitchen and I have to choose some new whiteware this weekend. I hate buying stuff like that but the kitchen is disfunctional.

Cooked a simple curry tonight - fresh fish, and potatoes/spinach and salad. Yumkins. I get my curry mix from Fiji - altho sometimes I make my own spice bits and pieces up.

Disclaimer!!!! I hasten to add that perusal of the Daily Mail is preceded by careful scouring of The Guardian and The Indy ( just in case you got the wrong idea of me TT)

NZ media is pretty shite as is the TV there.. maybe The Christchurch Press on a Saturday could be the exception?

haha - you have been redeemed on the newspaper front Patrice!
The paper versions have their uses - starting fires, wrapping fish and chips (well they used to), absorbing cat vomit...

                  Morning Affers,

Sun's out. Ran up a wee hill, back for a good feed and to study... well I will once I stop hanging out here.

It's near the end of a week off... Typically it's gone very quick. Too quick. I've really just been reading for uni... and lying on my bed a lot. TT - interesting comments re the avatar. As you, Lav and Kuya and others have all said - as much as it may niggle us, or be a concern for us for those newer here, fundamentally we just need to focus on ourselves, our quit. The avatar doesn't bother me a jot - what I do notice is when others comment on their own drinking (especially those I have come to know and like here)... I then can hear the AL voice in my head stir from it's sleep pretty damn quick. But I appear to be building quite a bit of mind-muscle: to shut the AL voice up, to say I don't drink... and more recently to start believing I am a non-drinker. Period. ... It is a gradual process, very gradual... but it is happening.

                    MAE ALL....

TT...thanks for the kickoff now if we can only get you to make the tea and coffee :H That's exactly what I thought about the army thread (dopey#1). Read it for months but wouldn't post until someone actually asked why it was called the Army and is everyone in the forces? Turns out they're all in the fight against AL so I guess I qualify. Glad it was because you were concerned about the newbies when it came to the avatar cause I was just looking for my :bat Nobody upsets my family and gets away with it!

Patrice...ssshhh don't say the "Cory" word. Whew, KY must be out having her lunch. Turns out CanToo (our other Albertan) and I watch it over here which set off what seemed like a month long discussion, pictures and all courtesy of Mick. Really confused some of the family as they didn't know it was a TV show. :H So glad you're not beating yourself up over your slip. Slip, there's another word the Army doesn't particularly like. I renamed it to "Brain Fart". Yup, lots of examples out there of what AL can really do to a person.

                    Mick
...by the time you get back we'll have TT well trained on the culinary part of the thread start. Hope you're enjoying yourself and remember your trip down the stairs when you're climbing those hills, we want you back in one piece.

                    RC
...glad to see you're still alive and that KY didn't catch up to you and take a round out of ya. Got a present for you.....

Time for my second cuppa and going to pull a Mick and head over to the army to see what's in the frdge. Have a great AF Friday all and all to come....PPQP

MAE all! How are the Fabbies doing today? So far, so good, it would seem.

Glad you only make a quick fall off the wagon, Patrice. Welcome back on!

                          You're up early PPQP!

Thanks for the start off, TT.

I'm off early this afternoon back up to Pennsylvania to keep working on the house. Lots of sanding, scraping and painting going on, as well as cleaning an oven. I'd rather eat nails than clean an oven as dirty as my tenants left it. Next weekend, I'll have others to help, but this weekend, I'm on my own. Rather depressing, really, but I will put on my big girl pants and buckle down.

Still happily on the AF wagon. I am looking forward to getting this done and having more time for MWO and the caring and support I'm find here. I don't feel like I've been here much for anyone else, either.

Okay, I'm going to run and get my charting done so I won't have that on my mind while I'm away. It's doubtful I'll be able to check in this weekend, so don't worry.

Hugs to all and those left to come today.
                          :l

:hallo: YahYah...yup early into work today. Want to do a test run of the Information Session I'm hosting on Saturday. Got to make sure all the "techie stuff" in the presentation goes off without a hitch.

Good luck with the cleanup and you're not on your own we'll be there to supervise. :H

                            p.s. Pass the nails!
