Fabulous February Friendships ~ Week 3

    Good morning kids,

I swear I saw the sun a few minutes ago, just can't see it now :H

papmom, I have never had any problem getting thru airport security. YB is another story He always gets pulled out of line for something.......an extra car key tucked in his wallet, a penknife in his pants pocket ~ DUH :H :H
Losing a close family friend changes the dynamic for a while, I know. But you will all find a way to go on & keep her in your hearts :l

    Hello to Star & everyone!

Well, nothing special on my day plan, just the usual stuff. Still, I am grateful for another healthy, clear-headed day.
Have a good one kids & Happy Humpday to one & all!

Fabulous February Friendships ~ Week 3

Happy humpday one and all, I hope we are all fighting fit. I'm struggling with a heavy cold at the mo, zapped me of energy but hasnt stopped my appetite

Sorry I didn't answer earlier questions - yes the bead fair was where you could buy beads, clasps and everything to do with jewellery making - and I didn't buy anything!!

Rusty, a hosepipe ban is where we are not allowed to use hoses to water the garden, wash cars etc.

Very cold and windy here today, I did go out for some air but didn't stay out long the wind was just too fierce.

Not sure what to do this afternoon, bit of crochet and a sloppy film on tv sounds just the ticket.

      Have a good day :l

Fabulous February Friendships ~ Week 3

Good Morning, February and Fabulous AF Friends,

Pap-:lI am so sorry for your loss. It's doubly painful when a mom has young kids. I know you and your sister will have a huge void to fill in your lives. I don't remember how long you said you would be in Atlanta, but if you're going to have some carry-on luggage, any liquids or gels no bigger than 3 oz. have to go in 1quart-sized plastic baggie (a sandwich bag), so put in that bag any cologne, creams, hair gels, liquid foundation, etc. Don't bother with putting lipstick, powder, bar soap, in that bag. MEDS-put all your meds in another clear, plastic, sandwich bag. Also, bring an EMPTY water bottle in your carry-on luggage and then fill it once you go through security. Carry on board with you: your kindle, books, magazines, IDs...etc. Have you ever been to Atlanta? Great city.

Sweetpea-:welcome:I love your avatar. I love flowers...and keep fresh-cut flowers in my house year round.

Lav-:l I have no words for you....I know you miss your Mom every day. You were lucky to have had each other, but it sucks that she passed on when she was so young. I am sure she was proud of you. I'm glad you had a relaxing time with your girls. I cracked up when you said YB tried to get through security with a penknife. I guess he thought the security camera wouldn't pick up on it.:H

Cyn-is your rash any better? 10 days with your mother including a trip out west....wow.....you might need a vacation by yourself after a long visit like that. We love our mothers but when there's an age difference, little quirks that drive you batty....well, you know what i mean.

Dill-my china pattern is Lenox Alyssa. I have to order everything from Replacements, Ltd. Are you and Mr. D driving or flying to New Orleans? Lucky you, it's bound to be warmer there. We got more snow yesterday and we're supposed to get pounded AGAIN on Friday. Was it Lav who said, "C'mon, spring!" Amen. I'm sick of this sh*t.

Star-you mentioned you were really struggling with your job? What's going on...anyway we can help? I am sorry that your mother has passed on as well. It must be especially hard on Mother's Day, and holidays.:l

I am continuing to work on my training program. Now, I'm starting to get excited about it. I am conducting this training for one of my new clients. I am thankful that I do not need to worry about AL pestering me because I am focused. I don't know how I focused when I was drinking at my worst.

To everyone I missed, happy AF humpday!

Hi Sooty! Sorry-cross-post. Thank you for the definition of hosepipe ban!

Not sure what to do this afternoon, bit of crochet and a sloppy film on tv sounds just the ticket. I wish I could join you in watching a sloppy film. I couldn't crochet my way out of a paper bag. I would gladly watch you, though.:H

O, wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?
                Percy Bysshe Shelley

:welcome: Welcome, Sweetpea, love your avatar!

Had a google Rusty and found images of your china. Very beautiful! I appreciated your travel tips. I haven't flown in a long time. I resented the whole naked body scanner thing and quit flying until someone would come to their senses and do away with them! As far as our New Orleans trip, we will be driving yet again. It's about 14 hours. We rather enjoy it! This time we have to drive because we are taking some large items that we could not take on the airplane.

Lav and Star: :l:l I miss my Mom too! We weren't 'friends', but we had a pretty good mother/daughter relationship. Lot's of times she absolutely made me crazy, but I miss her and my Dad both so very much.

Papmom, so sorry about your family loss. It's so hard when someone dies so young. I'll light a candle for your sister's SIL tonight.

Lav, the sun was here momentarily too. Otherwise the day has been cold and gray. I'm with you on urging Spring to get here quick!

                Hi Sooty!
                Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Fabulous February Friendships ~ Week 3

Greetings Sooty, Rusty, sweetpea & Dill

Snow flurries off & on all day here & super cold/windy. But the weather didn't stop some owl or hawk from helping himself to one of my chickens this afternoon. It looks like it was an owl (poor chicken's head was ripped off) but owls are nocturnal so I'm confused
It was a pretty disgusting (bloody murder scene).
BUT, I took a picture & IM'd it to my son - got an instant response from him :H
He's offered to come over tomorrow & help me close up the top of the fenced yard to prevent more losses. I knew I wasn't meant to be a farmer

                  Yeah, C'mon Spring!!!!

Fabulous February Friendships ~ Week 3

Oh Lav! I'm so sorry! Please tell me it wasn't Stella! I hope you took up your son's offer. Poor birds-get them all buttoned up now! BTW-nocturnal doesn't mean just dark. Many owls will hunt at dawn.

Rusty-thanks so much for the tips. I measured my bag and it is exactly the measurements they specify. I'm going to use the hotel's shampoo ext so really the only liquid I will need to put in a 3 oz container is my Gavascon. I heard you cannot bring any food from home on the plane. Is that correct? I hate to pay the prices at the airport but there is just too much time between getting picked up and getting to the hotel to go without anything to eat-almost 8 hours. Please let me know if I can bring my nuts, seeds and some fruit with me? The empty water bottle idea is brilliant!! I'm going to travel as light as possible-one pair of slacks, 2 blouses, a bathing suit for the hot tub and possibly swimming, 2 pairs of shoes (walking and conference), a cardigan, jammies and a trench coat if I can find one in my size for a decent price. I have long raincoats but they are too bulky. Need a car length I think. Might have to hit Saver's tomorrow nite. My laptop, Kindle and phone of course, a portfolio for notes and my travel info, my meds and I think that is it. Am I missing anything?

Thanks everyone for the sympathy notes. I'm sad but it's really my sis who is going through this. They were so close. I haven't heard from her and hope she is doing OK. I know it will take time and to have to wait a week for the arrangements makes it worse (her oldest son and DIL are in Argentina and won't be back until Monday-not sure why they didn't hop a plane home this weekend?).

                    Falling asleep-must log off. Hugs.

Hi Star-so sorry! Didn't read back far enough the first time. Thank you so much for your input!! I'm taking my Lillian Vernon Tote (its the big one) as my purse - I also have a "wallet" that I can strap across my body as an alternative to my purse. Thankfully the conference is in the hotel I'm at so biggie. My other suitcase is a carry on and we get to bring it on free (Delta) along with one "personal item" which I'm assuming is my totebag which will also hold my laptop, kindle and phone. Please let me know if I am interpreting the rules right!!

papmom, you should be just fine. I've never had anyone give me much grief at the airport
Just keep your cool & enjoy yourself!

I found an interesting webpage that discusses owl & hawks as chicken predators - sneaky devils.
Yes, my son will be over tomorrow, he's bringing the chicken wire

                        Have a good night

Pap-you are correct as far as what you can carry on. YES, you can bring your own food with you, as long as it is not soup. So, bring a sandwich, fruit, nuts, etc. with you. The airport food is way overpriced so you are smart to bring your own food. If you use the hotel pool, the hotel will most likely have a bag in your hotel room closet that you can use for your wet swimsuit, but I always bring an extra bag for my dirty clothes. I would just wear your winter coat and don't worry about bringing a trench coat. Sleep well, dear friend.:l:l:l

Hi Lav, sorry....cross post. I am so shocked by that owl or hawk that attacked and killed your chicken. Jeez...I thought hawks went after rodents and little dogs like my sister's Morkie, or LBH's Yorkie. I'm glad your son is coming over to help you out tomorrow. Maybe Chore Boy can come too and take you out for lunch....remind him to bring his wallet.:H:H

                                Good morning...

Dill, loved the quote. I hope spring comes soon. We had snow, snow and more snow, then tomorrow am, when I am leaving, another system is going through. Great. I just hope it doesn't affect my driving. Sorry you miss your parents, too. It is a loss that never goes away, just doesn't hurt as often. I am not fond of flying, but a 14 hour drive would not be my cup of tea. I would rather put up with the searches, etc. To each his own, right?

Pap, you will be fine, Rusty gave you the logistics, thanks for that Rusty. I need to find some quart bags. Personally, I love to treat myself to some airport food. I love the Starbucks yogurts.

Lav, your poor chicken, glad your son is going to protect the rest of them. How scary. I have a friend who had chickens and they were being taken one by one, so she eventually just sold them. I miss those delicious eggs.

Rusty, my job is up and down, so it is very hard when I am in a down time. It is my choice, but with February, I have felt really crabby and down. I think leaving town for the weekend will help me to gain perspective.

I am reading a Pearl Buck book, Pavilion of Women, circa 1946 and love it. Just wanted to mention it in case anyone is looking for a good read. I am really happy to be born in the US in modern times, let me tell you. No matter our problems, we have it so much better. Still, there was a beauty to the customs and rituals in their culture.

Hello to all and have a great Thursday.
