SL.....whatever the problem, DON'T drink at it !
Your daughter needs you sober, if you drink you are teaching her that this is how to handle things.

I really appreciate your reassurance. I was crazy ambitious when I was younger, and succeeded both in a high powered career and a messed up life. SO. Slower is better.

He is still young, oh and let me tell you from experience.. his kindness and sweetness will serve him much better in life than an A+ ever will!!
My son (7) is also pretty average at school...kind of relieved, looks like I won't have to work till I'm 80 trying to pay for Uni degrees.

Cat - don't feel pressured about going the calm and slower route. I also work in the education sector and see the mess that can happen to young people later in life - if not already. Good relationships with parents, teachers, siblings (if there are any) and esp peers are so so important. We are all different and so are our kids - and what they excel at age 9 may not be the direction they later take. You know all this - I can tell. I have always made sure my girl has time and space to dream, doodle and chill out. Mind you - I kick her up the bum if she procrastinates too much with homework! And she should cook more!

SL - I have no idea what horrendous pain you are going through (and it sounds really really tough) but Kuya's advice is right on.

Hang on in there Mums and those who love them!
