    April Achievers!

    Good morning to all...

Just thinking about how challenging life is and how we have all met our own challenges the best we can. I have some people who are close to me who are dealing with issues that I cannot really help with, just be there and be supportive.

Have you ever had a situation in your life where you just question, why me? Or, wonder, how am I going to get throught this? My own personal philosopy is that we are given challenges to learn from. I mean this in the most respectful way about very serious life issues. Parents getting old and sick, teenagers, infertility, alcoholism or addiction, health problems, financial stressors, career struggles, struggles in relationships including divorce and friendships.

Right now I have people close to me who are struggling with huge issues, I love them and it hurts to see them go through personal pain and emptiness. Prayer is one way send positive energy and I am doing that but I also wanted feedback from you all to see what you suggest. Thanks.

Busy day at work yesterday, totally unexpected, but I made it through. Thank goodness. It was warm and in the 60s, but I missed it except for the drive home. My windows were rolled down for sure.

Pap, that empty space in your driveway hurts. No doubt about it. I am wishing you good things in your life and wish I lived close to come over and help you complete your spring yard work. We always take our time in May and each weekend, do a part of our spring gardening, raking, cutting, and end up planting on Memorial Day Weekend. You will get it all done, little by little and you and your doggies will enjoy.

Lav, wisdom tooth removal is so painful, been there, done that. So glad you are taking care of yourself and resting, it is what will help you heal fastest!!

Dill, hope you get the weather today, we had yesterday, soft and soothing, sunny and SPRING1

Rusty, to go to snow really makes you appreciate not having snow. Good grief, enough is enough, right.

quick check in. Thank you Star for reminding us that we are not the only ones going through struggles. Sometimes we feel we have more than our share that's for sure. But, the fact that our little troop is getting through them without the crutch of AL speaks volumes for sure! I do pray to whoever or whatever is out there watching over us. I'm spent many a night on my deck looking up to the heavens and sending out my wishes and cries for help. I also use the gratitude tool often. Last nite when I was feeling so down and had watched a very scary Hawaii 5-0(why do I do that?) and couldn't sleep, I started listing everything I was grateful for. It worked like a charm and I fell asleep for a few hours.
Today is a new day for everyone. It might be sunny and warm, filled with snow or cold and rainy but it is an opportunity to start over and "perchance to dream".

        Good morning friends!

Clouds overhead & still pretty chilly but it's a new day
Slept well I must admit! The Ibuprofin (600 mg.) is holding me so I'm comfortable & grateful.

Dill, I am sorry about your son's marriage but it seems it may be for the best for all involved. I know you & Mr D are doing your best to be supportive & I'm sure that is appreciated. It's great to spend extra time with the grandkids regardless of the reason.

Perse, I did not sit outside last night to watch the meteors as usual. I hope you saw some great stuff!

Star, it certainly does hurt to watch others suffer, especially those folks you've long known & loved. I have had to learn to disassociate myself quite a bit to keep from losing my grip & sanity. My whole life I was a helper, a sin-eater, a bit of a control freak really. My inner drive just pushes me into action, jumping in to help anyone, anytime, anywhere. That behavior litterally sucked the life out of me & left me tired, depressed, oh & drinking
Right now I am fighting the urge to hop on a plane & attempt to go direct my brother's care. I don't especially like what I am hearing from my sister-in-law about certain things. But I'm not going to do it, I'm not going to toss myself into their drama. I need to preserve myself so that I can be of service to the people here - esp. my grandson. I guess the best we can do in these cases is be supportive by being good listeners, offer whatever advice you can (when asked), & pray. I hope you can keep your concerns separate so you don't lose focus

Papmom, sometimes just doing a good yard cleanup is enough! A fresh layer of mulch doesn't hurt either & I need about a half a dozen yards of it delievered so I can take my time. We'll see!

Today I am going to do easy stuff like clearing off the top of my desk ~ once again.
Greetings to everyone & I hope we all have a great AF Tuesday!

            April Achievers!

            G'day Friends,

Not a SINGLE falling/shooting star! However, bundling up, laying in the back of a row~boat in the dark was thrilling! I felt like a kid and it was SO worth the effort in spite of the 'no show' from the skies.

Tomorrow at 11am I get my MRI results and I'm almost frozen stiff with fear. Like I said, I've been healthy my entire life, so knowing something is wrong is really uncomfortable. 1st dealing with my mom's death and now my own health issue REALLY puts Living into perspective. My typical way is to shelter everyone around me from the 'blow' ~ isn't that odd? My main objective is to protect others from their own emotions about something possibly being wrong WITH ME? Geez, I shoulda challenged this one a long time ago :H ! Anyway, I am TRYING to do things to keep myself busy and positive. Since I am not currently working (who asked me that? ~ taking the summer off in MI to spend with my family) the life of leisure is only a curse when the waiting game is at hand. Perhaps something healthy like swimming at Y? It's about to thunder storm outside, again.

Since we are anonymous, can you give a tad more detail re: this? If not, I'd first ask: Is this something that you can and want to help with ~ be it physically, mentally or emotionally? Or, is it a situation where everyone is essentially helpless and out of all control? So many variables to feel like I am giving any relevant feedback. I agree with you on the life lessons philosophy, but some things just seem cruel and unnecessary. Sending you and yours lotsa :huggy:

Pap, I'm sorry that you were kerfuffled by a scary Hawaii 5~0 episode! The stuff I watch would prolly send you to a priest! Hope you recovered Ok from that! Indeed, a new day to perchance dream! I like it.

Lav ~ How are your choppers doin'? On the mend I hope. I was intrigued by something you said in response to Star ~ (among many other things) you said you were a sin~eater...what does that mean? Just curious, I love learning about what makes people tick and ways they've grown...

Rusty, can I come work for you at the end of the summer? Hope things are better this work~week :danthin: Thinkin' of ya.

Hello to the rest of the gang too... P.

              :H :H the definition of a SIN-EATER!
That is something we came up with many, many years ago to try to explain why everyone always came to us for help with their problems. I'm talking about friends, family, neighbors & even our parents! They all unloaded their stuff on us, looking for help, one way or the other. It's truly exhausting to be a sin-eater, I kid you not It is hard convincing people that I am done with all that & they have to figure it out themselves now. Sound crazy??

I hope your MRI results are not as dire as you fear. It's pretty easy to let our imaginations go wild. I really try to be mindful these days, focus on today. That helps keep the monkey mind quiet

I had a good day, my gums are fine, yay!!

                    Hi Friends,

I am relieved to report that I have degenerative disc disease and a bulging disc with no cord compression. Whew...my doc acted like I was being a big baby about the pain (yeah, I wouldn't wish it on an enemy, not that I have any ), so that was discouraging, but I'll be looking for a specialist. Lots to work with now. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT. Will be back laters to write more. xoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxox. P.

Do yourself a big favor & find a good pain management specialist ASAP.
Don't waste time in pain putzing around.....
My mostly absent husband YB went through a series of spinal injections for teh very same thing about 18 months ago - very effective.

Wow Lav! You had a wisdom tooth extracted?! I never heard of such a thing at our age. I hope you are healing nicely. I think you are wise to keep a distance from your bro's difficulties. You are very important to the people right there with you. We can only do so much and it is wise not to spread yourself too thin.
I like the term "sin-eater". I think I am one also. I am a quiet person and we quiet ones are automatically relegated to the "good listener" category. I can smile, frown and nod with the best of them! LOL.

Pers, I'm glad your neck pain is treatable. Was PT suggested? I too have degenerative spine, both cervical and lumbar. I've had several courses of PT and it has truly helped each time I have had a flair up. I'm doing what I can to avoid surgery!!

OMG, I'm out of time already! Pap, Star Rusty, I'll comment later.
                          Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Dill - that was my last wisdom tooth....now it's gone!
I held onto that sucker all these years but they finally made me give it up :H
I am just going to stay put here & take care of my own family. There is absolutely nothing I can really do for my brother(s) anymore & I know for a fact that they never felt any need to check on my welfare, so....it is what is is.

My no plan day turned into a busy one - always seems to work out that way. I had all 3 grandkids & my daughter here most of the day. Fun times

Avoiding surgery on your backs ladies is the best idea!!!!
I have never seen anyone have great success (if any) following spinal/cervical procedures. Go for as much PT as you can get!

                              Good morning...

Slept so well, happy it is Friday. At this stage of the game, we take for granted feeling well in the a.m. I read a bit of another thread and someone was mentioning feeling better with less alcohol. Guess what, no alchohol=feeling well every morning. Good to still take the time to appreciate simple things, that alcohol takes away.

We are looking forward to some warmer and sunny weather this weekend. I can barely wait. I have done no yard work as we actually had snow (no accumulation) in the air this week. I want to be outside, walk, pick up sticks, cut old wood down, breathe in the lovely fresh air. I am ready for warm weather.

Finished a busy week at work, I will not have the stress I have had for the last few weeks, thank goodness. I made it through, putting in extra hours to help out, and it was worth it.

Trying to manage some family affairs, getting far away family together, and everyone is not willing to do their part, so I guess my family will not be getting together. Once someone dies, it can totally change. Sad. I am giving up the control or even the efforts to organize. I guess I just don't understand.

Well, off to get ready for my day. To all, have a good one.

                                Where has this week gone??

Star-I totally get what you mean about trying to organize stay in touch, and you are the only one who cares. I've let go of a few friends that way. sad. Glad your stressful/busy time is over. Enjoy the warm weather as it MUSt be heading your way! How nice it is to have a weekend to just do. I miss those.

Pers1-Sounds like your news is mixed. You have the condition you thought you had but it does sound like it's treatable and that the pain can be managed. Go for everything possible you can afford!!

Lav-great to hear you have fully healed and your wisdom tooth removal did not remove any of your actual wisdom . I don't quite understand how we manage to fill up empty days so fast and with so much? Whatever happened to just "being" for a couple of hours or even a whole day? I'm glad it was fun tho!!

Hello and catch you later to everyone else. Time to hit the road!!
