    Mindful May ~ Week 3

    Hey Mindful ones -

Just a quick check in. I'm racing around getting ready for us to take off at Rusty-o'clock in the morning with the dogs packed in the car (again!). Not sure that I've mentioned it, but last winter we arranged to take a family vacation (step-daughter, her dog, our dogs and us!) during this upcoming week. I suggested we meet somewhere between CT and NC, on the ocean. Turns out we're going to the NC Outer Banks (and I mean OUTER), an 11 hour drive for us, 2 for her! Oh well, at least we'll have the dogs with, and the place we're renting is close to the water.

Once I get everything packed and in the car, I'll be able to relax. (I home-cook food for the dogs, and step-daughter is having serious GI issues and I'm cooking for her, and this island is 2 hours from the mainland, so I'm thinking that there may not be stores stocked with gluten-free pasta and almond milk! (Just accomplished all the shopping and cooking, chicken and rice is in the freezer, things are ready to go in the car, so I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...)

Now I just have to finish up on a writing deadline for tomorrow, recheck our taxes and get them ready to be FedExed (I know - don't say it - Extension). Whew! I'll need a vacation from this vacation. Maybe someday I'll learn to be more relaxed about getting ready for these things...

Hope all is well - I'm taking the laptop and they promise internet connection, so hopefully I'll be reporting from afar --

Take care all, and if I miss you tomorrow, I'm wishing everyone a great AF beginning to your holiday weekend!

Safe trip cyn! Sounds way to busy to be a vacation but I'm sure you'll be able to relax once you get there and settle in.

Rainy rainy day today. You too lav?

Rusty-I'm sure you know to enjoy those down days when they happen!

Had my formal review today, finally. It went on and I can't put my finger on it but something just isn't sitting rightwith me about her expectations and what this job really is about. It's just not right for me but I'm really worried about starting a new job search so soon. I'm not exactly a spring Stella ya know?

Went to Wal-Mart today after work. It started storming badly while I was there so I had to delay my exit.decided to looked at the George Forman grills to see what they had. My old one crapped out a few months ago and I really miss it. I haven't been successful in finding the model I wanted or the price. Until today! They had on display a model that was marked $17.50. It was obviously mismarked. and in two places. I believed it was real really a $40 grill. I brought the display and signsup to cust. Service and explained the issue.she gave it to me for the marked price! Score! Love those kinds of bargains!

        TGI AF Friday, Friends!

Up at Rusty O'Clock, 4:30 a.m. to start my last day of work with this client, unhung, at peace, happy.

Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend, besides Cyn? My sister and her husband are having a cook-out and hot tub/sauna party....just family, so that's where I'll be on Sunday.

Cyn-your vacation sounds lovely....except for the drive. You are such a trooper. How thoughtful of you to make all the gluten-free and GI friendly food for your step-daughter. No wonder she sends you flowers.:h

Pap-did you get your raise? Did your boss have any positive comments? Please keep us posted.

Hello to Lav, Star, Dill, TDN, Sooty, LBH and anyone I missed....have a wonderful AF Friday!

          Greetings MaySTAR's!

Rusty, you'll be in the hot tub this weekend? What kind of attire is expected?

All very good here folk's aside from a minor sniffle and sneeze. Has anyone skydived before? There's a place near me. I'm going to have a go. It's around $390 for a tandem jump. Will see how the finances pan out as i'm also looking at finishing my album at a studio real soon, and that is my priority.

There'll be no AL for this hombre today.

Have a safe , sober and magical weekend y'all.

            Good morning May friends,

            Skydiving G? Who me? :H:H
No way in hell buddy, I like my bones in one piece
If you do go have fun but be careful!!!!

Papmpm, I once scored a pair of lawn shears for $5 at Walmart for the same reason - cool
The big storms did roll through here last night too.

cyn, happy & safe travels to you
A getaway sounds nice, have fun.

Rusty, absolutely no plans for me this weekend. I'm sure I will end up entertaining my DIL & Grandsons as everyone else is going away. Ho hum. I hope you have a great weekend.

Guess I'll get myself in gear & get going.
Wishing everyone a great AF Friday!

Happy Saturday morning friends - wherever you are

The storm clouds have moved out & I see a bit of sun, finally. It is definitely a sweatshirt kind of day - chilly
Looks like I'll just be putzing around all weekend & likely feeding my DIL & grandsons repeatedly. Everyone else will be away until Monday/Tuesday.

I hope everyone has a nice day!

                Mindful May ~ Week 3

Morning Maystars!! Cold and rainy today. Going through lots of towels for the paps already!!

Lazy day. One and only project: reclaim the living room/dining room from the crap!! And clean! Now that I have TV in the LR again, I want to be able to sit there and right now it's disgusting!! Will also try to do some food shopping.

G-long ago, when I was young, I wanted to sky dive. For some reason when I hit my 20's I became very afraid of heights and planes (I hate flying!!). Not sure what happened as I was fearless as a young and teenage girl and never fell out of a tree! Anyway, hope your adventure goes well, very well in fact!! Good luck on getting your album recorded!! Great to have you check in!! Congrats on 1 week + AF but don't you get tired of going back to day one over and over? Just sayin'. We love ya G and want to see you live your best life!! :l :h

Can't wait to hear from Star!!

Lav-hope your day isn't too hectic and that you get some lav time!!

Hi HO to everyone else. Hope to see you all check in as the day goes by!!

                  Mindful May ~ Week 3

                  Hello to all...

Back from my trip, had a lovely time. Lots of good food, meditation, learning and exercise. Focused on detachment, being calm and accepting. It is the only way to be really. I guess the coolest part was being with likeminded people, who care about health, learning and spirituality. I felt so happy to just take care of myself. It is hard coming back home to all the stuff to do. But in a way good to have things to do to come home to. Does that make sense? Hope so.

Pap, glad tohear you are feeling better. Loved your sharing of freecycle stories. I have so much work to do on my yard, but one step at a time. Glad you had someone come and do the heavy stuff.

Rusty, congrats on getting the new client. You sound so positive and healthy.

Lav, hope you do get to go to Florida next winter, you deserve a break.

Dill, sorry to hear of the continued stress. It is no way to lose weight, I know as it happened to me in my early thirties, at a really tough time. But, it is nice to feel thin.

Loved my trip so much, drove 12 hours Friday, and still adjusting. We had a nice Saturday, weather was perfect, in the 60s and partly sunny, but I think that may be over now. Missed you all.

                  Have a lovely Sunday.

                    Mindful May ~ Week 3

                    Good morning May friends

Granny Lav is feeling fairly crippled today after a full day of yardwork yesterday. At least I put a dent in the mulch pile :H :H
I'm going to load up on Motrin, skip the yardwork today & take the grandsons & their mother to the zoo!

Papmom, I love a room without clutter so throwing away/donating/selling unused stuff is cool

                    Welcome home Star!
Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip but driving 12 hrs?? I absolutely could not do that for so many reasons
I hope you can rest up for the next few days & enjoy some decent weather.

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Sunday. I'll be tossing some burgers & hotdogs on the grill today for the kids. I think I'll stick with the vegetarian chilli I made yesterday.

Papmom, yesterday YB & our son drove up to Gloucester, they are hopping on a fishing boat today - one that was featured in some TV show?

                    Have a great day all!

                      Mindful May ~ Week 3

Hi Lav-not sure what boat or show that was. can prolly find out. I hope they are not prone to seasickness! The wind is pretty strong up here today although at least it's not raining anymore.

Star-welcome home!! So glad you had such a nice time!!

I have reclaimed my living room!! Actually ate breakfast in there today! The dining room is still a mess but at least vacuumed. I am giving away an old dresser that is in horrid shape. It is in my DR and I used to store misc things in it plus it looked kind of neat but the drawers have broken so it isn't usable. I put it in craig's list as free and have had a ton of interest. The first person to respond is coming today at 12:30 to take it away. I asked my family if that was oK(it had been in the family for eons and is probably an antique) and they said that was fine. I am also getting rid of some shelving and hardware that came with the desk set up I got off of freecycle 2 years ago (remember that whole office makeover?). I never put the shelves up and they are just sitting there taking up space. Not sure when they will be going but not soon enough. I've ordered a portable closet for my coats (not one coat closet in the whole house!) and that will go where the dresser was. So, things are shaping up-slowly but surely.
Heading out to Amherst for my neph's baseball game and a visit. Bringing Mickey.
Tomorrow is yard day and I'll probably be following in Lav's foosteps with the ice and advil afterwards!! :H

                      Have a great day everyone!

                        Mindful May ~ Week 3

Papmom, I got a text message a few hours ago that they are on their way back home with lots of cod. Those two don't get seasick, believe me. I do so I wouldn't ever go again, once was enough

Had a nice time at the little zoo. I'm so used to the big city zoos (Philly & DC) but these small ones can be charming. Speaking of charming - here's my new best friend - Jimmi

It was Jimmi's birthday today so all the kids got free cupcakes

EB is staying overnight & currently soaking off the day's worth of crud in my spa tub - yay.

                        Have a nice night everyone!

                          Mindful May ~ Week 3

I hope they share their haul with you Lav!! I love boating but I don't do well in choppy water so Bonine can be my best friend. I like Jimmy, your new best friend-he's very cute!!

Very nice day today. Slept late (7:30), nice brekky and read most of the Sunday paper. Reclaimed my dining room and kitchen. The old beat up dresser got picked up this afternoon by someone who saw it on Craig's List. One item down, a few more to go. Went out to Amherst and watched my nephew play baseball. Took Mickey with me and there was a lovely wooded trail at the recreation park so we took a short walk (sorry but watching 7 year olds play baseball where there are no outs or runs counted is not exactly riveting). Then out to dinner in Amherst (thanks Dad!!) and now home. The weather was iffy but actually stopped raining in time for the game (our side only had 6 players show up) and the sun finally came out while we finished dinner.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow which is forecast to be almost perfect. I should have my yard finally whipped into shape by tomorrow nite. Hope I can up Tuesday morning!! :H

                          Have a great nite all!

                              Good morning...

Worked in my yard yesterday and I am sore today!! Weeded, planted some bushes and spread mulch. It took about 5 hours, and it looks great.

Today, woke up to rain, but that is OK. Pap, I'm cleaning up my middle room and throwing and rearranging...it feels good to organize.

Lav, the zoo looks great, have fun at your cookout today.

To all, have a great day.

                                Mindful May ~ Week 3

Hiya Gang, I finally read thru all of May (took me nearly an hour!) and now I'm not sure if this is the right place to post...it's like the 5th week of May and I'm just confused! :what?: So, if I find a new week started tomorrow, I will copy and paste this there...

I have been back from my vacation for a bit and pretty depressed honestly. Lots of thoughts and emotions about life and relationships & I am just trying to sort. I've been a bit reclusive and apologize for my absence. I have missed you all and very much value you.

Cyn ~ I hope you are getting some relaxation in on your 'vacation'. Sounds like you are a true nurturer. May u get some in return! :huggy

Lav ~ What is a DIL? I get most of your acronyms but don't know this one! LOL. You are such a busy and inspiring gal. A warm trip to FL sounds positively peachy, even now as it's cold and rainy ~ again! And supposed to be back to 80 tomorrow, yikes!

Star ~ I feel you on a coupla levels re: health, nature, spirituality and like~minded/souled folks. I'm actually having a bit of a life crisis longing for them right now. I am 43 and I feel like I've spent most of my life's energy on people and relationships that were parasitic ( I being mostly the host) and it makes me feel gross. And drained. Bloodless maybe. I am trying not to focus on regrets, but can't help it. Perhaps its just a part of the grief process and I will cycle thru ok? Love to hear more about your retreat if you care to share? Welcome home.

Rusty ~ CONGRATULATIONS! It's always SO wonderful to hear of strong, intelligent women successful in business for themselves! :wd:

Pap ~ I am such a bargain shopper these days. My step~momma has me going to garage/yard sales and goodwill ALL the time now. And I cannot tell you of the bargains I've found. I never pay full price for anything. I just bought a vintage turn~table for $10! And I decorated my entire living room mid~century decor for around $250! Your headboard sounds delightful and awesome job on getting your yard and house cleaned up! Way to go my friend.

Dill ~ How are things with your family? I am sure its rough, but if my baby (daughter) were in the same pickle I would def do the same. She has no kiddos yet, but I can't wait! Gotta be there during the hard times. Wishing you patience and strength and most of all, just enjoy them while you can. My mom's passing taught me that?we gotta love our peeps NOW.

G~Man ~ how's going buddy? You would have to thoroughly drug and diaper me to get me to jump from a plane! I hold on for dear life when it starts to rattle a bit! ray: How are you these days?

Still really struggling with the pain in my neck (and now other places) too. Trying to get an appt. with a pain mgmt. clinic, so that should help if I ever get in. Lots more to share in due time. Super grateful for you all. XOXOX, P.
