thanks NS and I agree. I'm looking forward to the day (very soon now) that I can get an affordable DNA profile on myself. we live in fascinating times where the quest for the 'quantified self' is becoming a reality. one tool we can all afford is a simple glucometer for measuring our responses to various foods. we can learn a ton from such a simple affordable tool. another is the iphone app's for heart-rate response to foods as a metric for food intolerance, and for even geekier folks you can get an EEG that attaches to your phone or computer and really look under the hood and see what's going on. that device as well as a HRV monitor (heart rate variability) are now being used by folks looking to get the most out of their meditation and other mental training. it's referred to as 'bio-hacking' in the common jargon among nutritional geeks.
Dave Asprey has performed a lot of research in this field FYI.

Mick - didn't know field mice tunneled - but now wonder with all the goodies in your garden! Computer better but still probs, but I'll carry regardless. Good luck with your bloods today.

        Congrats NS on 6 months!!

Det - Love the sound of all these "toys" you can get

        Hi to everyone

Pouring here and storms due today. Had to get up at 3 again this am as there are about 5 cats that gravitate to our garden and make one helluva noise:upset: I'm sure they must be strays as it was torrential rain all night, yet they were out in it.

Lost 4kg (over 8lbs in old money!) on my Jason Vale smoothies and soups. Not used to so much fruit and it is very sweet, still only a few more days but at least I've been off all the crap, so that's a bonus :H

Cindi, blood sugar rises for 1-2 hours after a meal. Checking for changes only 30 minutes after a meal is not going to give you an accurate idea of how your body is handling food. Check it 2 hours after a meal - that's standard procedure. His FBS of 109 is not all that bad
