    Saturday AF 19 October

MAE ? another evening start to the thread from here. Beautiful day, sun shining, warm but not too hot. We had dinner el fresco ?I cooked some Indian food ? including a new fish dish ? spicy and yummy. Also it was fresh fish so it was succulent (sorry Lav and the other vegans).

Cinders ? you keep yourself busy during these days and nights alone from the hubby and dog. I know you take AB so the AL temptation is not even an option but you don't want to get too lonely and sad. Sounds like you will be doing shopping etc this weekend. Make the most of your time alone to catch up on reading or whatever you enjoy like that.

Mick ? how are your fingers? Are you taking my advice and resting a bit. We don't expect you to post so much while you are convalescing. Think of yourself as an injured concert pianist ? and you get the idea.

Hope Lav that your weekend goes well ? I guess you will have little people getting excited about Halloween (shh don?t let SK know). Halloween is not such a big thing here.

Bear ? hope you weekend goes well. You too Sam and Yah Yah. Det ? you sound much chirpier than a wee while ago.

SF ? sounds like you have dealt with the pastor incident. Have a great weekend.

Pauly ? interesting reading your remarks about Vegas. One of the things that I enjoy about this thread is hearing the wee snippets from all over the globe ? and from all over the US. Its really nice to connect with people in an everyday way ?even if it was the demon drink that brought us together. Well it was the desire and the ability to ditch the demon that really has cemented us.

Hope I haven?t missed anyone. Have fun and look forward to the weekend and the week ahead

Should women have children after 35? "No, 35 children are enough!"

Q: What does the receptionist at the sperm clinic say when clients are leaving? A: ?Thanks for coming!?

A teenage girl come home from school and asks her mother, "Is it true what Rita just told me?" "What's that?" asks her mother. "That babies come out of the same place where boys put their penises?" said her daughter. "Yes it is dear!" replies her mother, pleased that the subject had finally come up and that she wouldn't have to explain it to her daughter. "But then, when I have a baby," responded the teenager, "won't it knock my teeth out?"

Steve lies dying, as Jack, his law partner of 40 years, sits at his bedside. "Jack, I've got to confess -- I've been sleeping with your wife for 30 years, I'm the father of your daughter, and I've been stealing from the firm for a decade." "Relax," says Jack, "and don't think another thing about it. I'm the one who put arsenic in your martini."

Yo momma is so stupid she stared at an orange juice container for 2 hours because it said concentrate.

One day, during a lesson on proper grammar, the teacher asked for a show of hands for who could use the word "beautiful" in the same sentence twice. First, she called on little Suzie, who responded with, "My father bought my mother a beautiful dress and she looked beautiful in it." "Very good, Suzie," replied the teacher. She then called on little Michael. "My mommy planned a beautiful banquet and it turned out beautifully, he said. "Excellent, Michael!" Then, the teacher called on little Johnny. "Last night, at the dinner table, my sister told my father that she was pregnant, and he said, 'Beautiful, fucking beautiful!'"

A woman gives birth to a baby, and afterwards, the doctor comes in and he says, "I have to tell you something about your baby." The woman sits up in bed and says, "What's wrong with my baby doctor? What's wrong?" The doctor says, "Well, now, nothing's wrong, exactly, but your baby is a little bit different. Your baby is a hermaphrodite." The woman is confused. "A hermaphrodite..... what's that?" The doctor replies, "Well, it means your baby has the.......er......features....of a male and a female." The woman turns pale. She says, "Oh MY GOD! you mean it has a penis..... AND a brain.

The Teacher had asked the class to write an essay about an unusual event that happened during the past week. Little Johnny got up to read his. It began, "My daddy fell in a well last week." "Good Lord!" the teacher exclaimed. "Is he OK?" "He must be," said Little Johnny. "He stopped calling for help yesterday."

A little boy wanted $100 badly and prayed for two weeks but nothing happened. Then he decided to write a letter to the Lord requesting the $100. When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to the Lord, USA, they decided to send it to President Obama. The President was so impressed, touched, and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill, as this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy. The little boy was delighted with the $5.00, and sat down to write a thank-you note to the Lord. It said: Dear Lord, Thank you very much for sending me the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you had to send it through Washington, DC and as usual, those jerks deducted $95.

A little old lady entered the main branch of a large downtown bank with a large grocery bag in her arms. She told the teller that she wanted to open an account to make a substantial deposit, in excess of $200,000. Further, she said that since such a large sum was involved, she would deal only with the president of the bank to make the necessary arrangements. The teller looked in the bag and confirmed that it was, in fact, full of cash. He called upstairs and explained the situation to the bank president, who agreed to see the woman. The teller escorted her to the president?s office, and the president invited her to have a seat, which she accepted. She repeated her request to open an account. The president said he would take care of it personally, but his curiosity was killing him. He said, "Mind if I ask how you happened to come into such a large sum of cash?" "Not at all," was her reply. "I bet." "You bet?" he countered. "At the racetrack, or on professional sports, or in casinos...?" "Nothing like that," she said. "I just... bet. For example, I`ll bet you $50,000 that by tomorrow morning your balls will be square." The president chuckled but, seeing that the lady had the funds to back up such a wild bet, agreed. They shook hands on it, and she promised to return at nine the next morning to follow up, and left. As the day wore on, the president found himself frequently checking to make sure that all was in order. It was, but just as a precaution he cancelled his regular Tuesday-afternoon golf match and went home early. The next morning when he showered, he was actually quite relieved to find that nothing had changed drastically while he slept. He confidently headed for the bank, laughing all the way at the unexpected windfall that was about to become his. The little old lady showed up promptly at the appointed hour, accompanied by a young man. When the president asked who he was, she replied that he was her lawyer, who she always brought along when payoffs involving significant sums were involved. The president told her that sorry, she had lost that particular bet, so the funds would be outgoing rather than incoming. She insisted on examining the evidence for herself, considering the amount at stake. He deemed it a reasonable request under the circumstances, so he stood up, unbuckled his belt and dropped his pants. She proceeded to closely inspect his jewels for any abnormalities. As she did, the president noticed that her lawyer was standing in the corner, banging his head against the wall. He asked the lady, "What?s the matter with him?" She paused her inspection long enough to glance at the lawyer and replied, "Oh, him. I bet him $250,000 that before ten A.M. today I`d have the president of the bank by the balls."

"Honey," said this husband to his wife, "I invited a friend home for supper." "What? Are you crazy? The house is a mess, I haven't been shopping, all the dishes are dirty, and I don't feel like cooking a fancy meal!" "I know all that." "Then why did you invite a friend for supper?" "Because the poor fool's thinking about getting married."

Good morning! I got 4 hours of sleep last night and wide awake! Though I don't recommend it all the time....4 hours sure is different when I have not poisoned myself.

I am officially a southerner. Took three years from moving from the North, but the house got down to 76......dressed like an Eskimo for bed and turned on the space heater!

Mick....yes, Nashville. I live about 10 miles out of downtown. Incredible music everywhere, hopping vibrant city that has recovered for the most part from the economic crash. Love it here.

Today headed downtown to the Hall of Fame...seeing some hit songwriters I like play, Reba exhibit, Johnny Cash museum, Parthenon (we a replica that everyone raves about)....and seeing a friend sing on Broadway. Broadway can be a dangerous place for a drunk....but I am feeling ok about it. I am sure there will be plenty of people to remind me of how I used to be.....and don't want to be. We will only be there an hour. Getting out my red cowboy boots!

          Good morning Abbers,

Overcast here this morning so I'm just being lazy - sounds like a good excuse anyway :H
It was clear last night so I had a good view of the full moon but didn't see much of the eclipse.

TT, I'm not really vegan but I'm getting there, little by little. When you realize that consuming animal products is what's causing your digestive grief it's a no brainer. I really, really feel a whole lot better going without

Mick, I think I may drag that pot of gerberas inside before the cold weather hits.....maybe I can get it to bloom one more time
You're doing a pretty good job typing with sore fingers, take care of them & keep the drama to a minimum :H

My grandsons are talking about zombie costumes for Halloween - yuck. Their mama is pretty busy with graduate school right now so I don't know what she's going to come up with for them. One thing I know for sure ~ this is not my problem :H

Have a great AF day everyone! Hello to Cindi, YahYah, SF, pauly, Det, Sam & everyone!

            Wowie Nashville - SF.

So we have two old alkies posting here - one living near Nashville and one in Vegas.

I feel a movie coming on - or should it be a song!

The city I live in is not nearly so legendary (not famous at all!).

I haven't been to Nashville or Vegas but in 1978 I did a road trip from Palo Alto to Philadelphia in one week (the deal was that you deliver a car for someone who doesn't want to drive that distance). I didn't drive - that was my ex-husband (no 1.) This was an eye-opener for a young Kiwi lass.

                  Hi Det

Here’s the recipe. I used minimal oil to cook it in and actually mine did not really crisp but that didn’t matter.

Crispy Fried Fish - Chef Zubaida Tariq In Handi On Masala Cooking TV Channel

I used a fairly firm thick fish and made some of the chaat masala but did not use all the spices. I will buy some chaat masala next time I see some.

Served it with cubed potatoes fried (again hardly any oil) with garlic, curry powder (mix of spices), mustard seeds, black poopy seeds, salt. I get them browned and then turn the heat down and put a lid on top. I use a heavy deep frying pan. At the end smoother them with chopped mint/coriander/parsley – whatever you have.

We also had a grated carrot salad with coconut in it and mint/spring onions.
Served also some yoghurt and naan bread (packet).
