        Good morning...

Have to leave early, the workers are coming to put in new flooring, so everything is in an uproar. It will be worth it bigtime. However, short post so to all, have a productive day.

            Good Morning,

I am grateful to be alive today. Today is the 1-year anniversary of suffering a concussion from slipping on my slate floor. I feel no side effects anymore. And to think it was a freak accident caused by an overly waxed slate floor and a little puddle of water, not from drinking or the use of any meds....I was extremely lucky! When I was visiting my US Attorney friend in Southern Illinois, she said she is defending the government in a lawsuit involving someone who slipped and fell while wearing Crocs! I googled "lawsuits involving accidents due to flip-flops" and there were a boatload of them.

:welcomereamThinkDo....all the way from South Africa.

Dill-I hope you had a relaxing time with your relatives yesterday. Good for you for escaping with Mr. D for the whole day.:goodjob: I am ordering Parched today. Thanks! Your chicken stew in the crockpot sounded delicious. I am glad we both got a walk in on Sunday.

The feeling at the key moment along the path to addictive behavior is helplessness or powerlessness. It feels like you are in a trap you can do nothing about.
I loved this quote from the book I am reading by Dr. Lance Dodes, "Breaking Addiction. A 7-Step Handbook for Ending Any Addiction." I think a lot of us drank because we felt helpless or powerless. By far, this is the most helpful publication I have read on addiction so far, and far surpasses any information I've ever gotten on MWO. It talks about the thought process of the addictive brain and how we get to that point, and tools to break free from it. It's another book like Blame
that I can't put down. It addresses all types of addiction and not just alcohol.

Lav-Enjoy the silly hat picture. Feel free to share a pic of what you chose to wear. Did you make hats especially for the grandsons. I saw the pics of your getting-grown-up-fast chickens on the Daily Thread. Wow, have they grown. I see a few Stellas in there.

Star-I hope you have smooth sailing with the flooring installation today. Did you say what kind of floor covering you chose? I can't remember. I loved reading how you put little pumpkins on your mom's gravestone and said a prayer, too.:l Yes, the new pope is really trying, which is something I could not say about the previous pope. He seems to be much more open-minded. What are your thoughts?

I have quite a bit of work to do today, but first, a trip to the gym. Happy AF Tuesday!

              Greetings friends, happy unhung Tuesday,

Rusty, :l I can't believe a year has gone by since that freaky accident. I'm so glad you survived that fall and are still here with us!:l Thanks for the book tip. I'm going to look for it at the library.

Star, how exciting getting new flooring! I know it's annoying to have everything torn up. I hate that feeling. But this too shall pass and you will soon be enjoying.

DTD, :welcome: Nice to have you here all the way from Africa! Do you have seasons where you live like we do here?

Lav, What fun being able to be at your gson's Silly Hat party! Do share a picture if you can.

Our get-away yesterday was really nice. It took me an hour or more after leaving home to shed my stresses and worries but I finally did. We had such a nice change of scene and enjoyed family. Southern Ohio is beautiful at this time of year, all hillsides covered with trees. It hasn't yet reached its peak of color but it was close. We enjoyed a nice meal and took a walk in the woods on a lovely pine needle covered path. There was one very bad incident tho. SIL has a dog with a screw loose. It decided Mr. D was a threat and it bit him in the arm, taking a small chunk of skin and ripping a large portion of his sleeve! SIL felt awful!!! Mr. D and SIL cleaned it out with alcohol, peroxide and dressed it with neosporin and bandages. So far it seems to be OK.

Have a good day, one and all.
              Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Dill and Rusty, thanks for the warm welcome. (I started typing Dill and Fennel; caught myself in time, though!)

Dill, our seasons are just the other way round, and our winters not as harsh. Some parts of the country do get snow in winter, but generally not heavy falls. Spring and autumn are much shorter than yours, I think.

I would love to see the trees in autumn - the pictures I've seen are astonishing. Think of me when you next take a walk in the woods.

Just had a huge plate of food - roast veg & steak - so my eyes are falling close. (It's supposed to be summer here, but the evenings are still cool enough for a hot meal.)

                Night all!

Quick hello from Cyntree to all -

I'm alive, still working away here - a big, bad work week past, and then a plane ride and getting very sick with sinus/ear infection. Home now, and 'pedal to the metal' again, but trying not to lose sight of some normalcy. Gave notice at my job - but it won't be searched until January. Fine, as long as I know there's an end to it.

More soon when I can muster some synapses to fire. Missed everyone, thanks for all the stories that I embraced as I read back.
                      PS - great pic, Lav!

                          Onward October - week 4

                          Good morning...

Welcome Dreamthinkdo, hope to learn more about you. Yes, fall is just gorgeous, the colors are amazing.

Lav, loved the picture, he is so cute. I interacted with a two year old yesterday, and he was so naughty and everything was no. I loved it. I agree, we have to be good to ourselves, take care of ourselves, and then we are able to care for others, all AF.

Rusty, hardwood flooring in our great room. It is about half done and it is beautiful. But, house torn up, everything a mess. It is worth it already. The worn out nasty carpet had to go. So glad you have no effects from the accident last year. That was really scary. I fell in a parking lot in the spring, still have scars on my elbow and leg. Falling is the worst. I have to find that book you are reading, it sounds really good. Thanks for sharing.

Dill, what a nice day you had. Good to get away. Sorry about the dog bite though. I hate when people's dogs are vicious.

Cyn, so great you are giving up the killer job. There just has to be something you can do closer to home and less stressful. Feel better. Maybe call off.

Wittsend, good to hear from you. Fighting the good fight you are. Another grandchild, only great one this time. Congrats.

Is anyone else feeling kind of extra tired? Is it the weather or just me? Getting a little warmer out but forecast rainy for Halloween. I bought tons of candy, just in case. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning friends & happy hump day!

Up too early this morning thanks to one of my dogs - oh well.

I just had a long conversation with my daughter yesterday Star about feeling 'spaced out' for the lack of a better term We decided it is due to allergy symptoms & the decreasing amount of sunlight. I see on the news a big Halloween storm is brewing up for the Midwest - swell.
Good to hear your remodeling project is going well. Boy have I ever lived thru a bunch of them in previous houses. You will be grateful when it's done, I'm sure

Dill, sorry Mr D suffered a dog bite - hope he's OK.

Rusty, we celebrate all sorts of anniversaries, don't we? Glad you have no residual effects from your fall one year ago. It took me many years to get my act together after my major head incident. I'll be celebrating 13 years next month & grateful to be alive!

Hello to Witts, cyn & everyone dropping in today. I am heading out to watch the grandsons for an hour or two until my son gets home from work, then on to Curves. Halloween parade tonight in town, oh boy. My son will be driving the fire truck & the boys will ride with him - they are so excited :H

                            Have a great AF Wednesday!

                              Hello All,

Witts, so happy to see you! WHAT?!!!!! Great Grandmother!

Lav, your grandsons will be in Firetruck Heaven tonight for sure! What lucky little boys! Do you get trick or treaters at your house? We had one in the past 21 years!:H One brave teen walked up our long spooky driveway years back when the kids were still home. He had a major crush on my daughter. The things we do for love.

Star, yes. I have been feeling very easily fatiqued and lack energy lately. I bought some vitamins hoping it would help. I can't help but think it has to do with the changing seasons. My appetite is increased too. It's like my body is preparing for cold weather by going into hibernation mode!

Cyn, I hope you can get enough rest to chase the sinus infection away! January will be here before we know it and then you can settle down a bit, I hope. Practice with me: Smile and say, "Thank you for the offer, but no, not at this time." :H

Dream, MMMMMM!!! You made my mouth water just thinking about your roast veggies and steak. Did you grill the steak? Just curious. I have just browned some ground beef and onion and put it in the crockpot. I'm deciding what I want to do with it, chili? Spagehetti sauce? Hash? I don't know. ....will decide soon tho.

I'm heading out soon to have lunch with an old colleague.

Have a great and AF Hump Day everyone!

Dill, I put everything (onions, meat, baby aubergines, green beans, carrots, butternut) in a roasting tray, shoved it into the oven and then waited for it to be done.

What is it with everybody feeling tired? Perhaps it's just been a long year for everybody? Started taking a multivit & biotin today, have to get some magnesium & calcium - that really picks me up once it kicks in.

Lav, don't you dare do anything nasty to my little rooster. Keep him, and he'll wake you up in the morning and not the dog. (Uhm, perhaps that's not quite the way to convince you to keep him:H)

The Weather Bureau has been promising thunder storms for days now - nothing much happening so far. This part of the country don't really get T storms, and is a big talking point for weeks afterwards. I love them: the louder and closer and scarier the better.

Enjoy what's left of the day
