Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

    Hallo Loamers!

Your Maddie is absolutely gorgeous, Dottie; he'll soon lose his shyness. I just used the usual smilies, centred on the page. Does it help? Ask if you're still unsure.

14 October 2013 was the first day of the best days of my life!

Dottie, he is very cute! He looks really shy too...poor fella. He went through a lot in his short life already.

Well, I am working. Totally busy today.
Canada women's curling and hockey won GOLD today!!! OMG, we get so excited about those two sports! Everyone is high fiving and cheering. How awesome is that? I love the Olympics!

We will see about tomorrow though. Men's hockey faces off U.S vs Canada. It is gonna be a nail biter! I don't know how Canada will do though, I don't think our team is the strongest.

Anyway, I will watch the game as sober as can be. If we are invited anywhere to watch it I will not drink. Beer and hockey go together EH so it can be tricky
Actually, I have no desire to drink right now anyway so it won't be a problem. Thank goodness for you ladies. You remind me everyday on how good it is to be sober. I love you all my new best friends!

DTD, look at You, all fancy schmancy with your moving icons!

Nar, so glad to hear that desire isn't there. We've found we can finally enjoy watching sports without alcohol. It's even more fun because now we remember the games.
Every AF day is a milestone.

          MAE Ladies,

Pav, what you said about the work to stay sober is what I'm doing, so I'm on the right track! Checking in, being accountable, processing thoughts that come up, asking questions, giving support. All important.

And Ava, yes, keeping it simple. Not trying to do everything, and I think that's why I fail at times. I try to be perfect at this, that, and the other thing, when really, I can't be perfect at anything, but I can work towards one thing at a time. Oops...run on sentence!

Hi Giraffe, yea, we're all eating too much sugar except for NoSugar. Bless her!

Roxy, you're back on your horse! Good for ya, dear!

          Humble, what a great dream!

NS, gonna take a look at the article after I type this. Thank you dear.

          Hi Sweatpea!

Nar, sounds like you're back on that horse as well. You go girl!

Marylou! Congratulations on your 30 days!!!! Woot! Woot!:woot::kudos:

Daisy, LB, DTD, and all, have a happy MAE.

One Crafty Mother (From NS's post 1954)

Thanks NS for this article. Some points that struck me as important:

            1. The slide back into old behaviors before we take a drink and then ultimately relapse (relapse starts before drinking does) can be almost invisible. "It's a death by a thousand paper cuts." Slowly, we stop maintaining our recovery program. Slowly, we let things go that were priority in our recovery.

            2. Addiction is a brain disease. The rational part of our brain does not work when we are actively involved in our addiction.

            3. When not active in a program of recovery, addiction is left untreated, and even if one is not drinking just yet, it will happen if daily engagement in a program is lacking.

            4. We need to make it our responsibility to maintain recovery, so that our addiction is not left untreated and will not become active.

            5. There is no "cure" for addiction, but it can go into remission through a program of recovery that we maintain daily.
Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

I wish I could get that page for one crafty mother to open.

                Hi, LB

Maybe you could do a search on One Crafty Mother and get to it that way. She is an interesting woman and a good writer.

Gold in women's curling and women's hockey! A very exciting day here. We were all watching the hockey game from work, in bars, at school, in restaurants and boy we cheered big time when we scored a goal in overtime. Yes!!
                  Now I am in bed.

J-Vo, those are great points. I think I really have to remember to be active in a program of recovery. It is so easy to become complacent and fall into that drinking trap. It has happened to me so many times. I appreciate you posting them.

                    Hi, all!

Here and sober. Typing on my phone which I hate to do. Very slow.

A few major temptations haven't led to my wanting to drink per se but to my getting pissed (angry, not drunk) that I am in this position! Really? No beer on at the chowder restaurant on the bay?! How the heck did I let this happen!? Enough pity party for now.

Ok. Attitude of gratitude. I am here and present for my sons. Sleeping well. No guilt. I am leading a much healthier life and will definitely be here for longer with my family.

I'll give you a novel when I return. I'm sure you can't wait.

                    Dot- Madison is so sweet!

Pav, hang in there with your gratitude! Enjoy the beautiful scenery as I can imagine.

                        Hi all MAE ladies
Glad to see that we are seeming to be doing well and enjoying life.
J-vo, I'm going to ponder on that: "slide back into old behaviors before we take a drink" - it is something I worry about.
Sunday I'll be 51 - cannot remember my last sober birthday. Maybe when I turned 14? Actually I struggle to remember many of the others as well for reasons very well known to the LOAMERS.
Anyway, this year it's different and new, and I like it.
Thank you all to the wonderful posts packed with inspiration and encouragement.
                        Luv u all.

Giraffe, it's be the best birthday you've ever had! Any day sober is a great day. And you're going strong, since October 28th! Good for you.

                              Hi Jenni!

LB, I missed your 50th so happy belated, dear! I'll be the big 50 next Feb, and I believe Ava and Nar are turning 50 soon.

                              Have a great Friday/Saturday all!
