Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

    Ok,

Quick stop on my way to bed - (well, it is a little early, but I'm going to read and finally get a good night's sleep).

Daisy - glad you're back. What part of your plan will be different so you stay on track this time? Can we help with anything? Settle in and post, post, post (you won't scare the prolific loamers!)

I NEVER get time alone in my house - have fun, LC. That used to mean SEVERAL drinks, some take out and bad TV for me. Now it means some take out, bad TV and a pint of ice cream! Oink.

Ava - I do love the soup and stew. I once put a warm glass of beer in a bowl of ice cubes to "cool it down" so I could drink it faster. And that was well before I considered myself a "problem" drinker. FFS is all I can say.

LB, you and the doggies have fun beach time. I wouldn't blame you if you stayed forever. I was going to maybe get to go to a conference in New Orleans this summer, but now it looks improbable. Boo hoo. I know NO in July is a sweltering pit, but I can handle that for a week of music and food. Too bad.

NS - Thanks for the time zone sorting. What app do you use? I still get a headache when I try to figure out the international date line and I realize that Ava is two days ahead of me even though our quit dates are only one day apart.

    OK, NOW to bed.

And hi, Dot. You sound so great - dancing, yoga, fun. I hope you get to warm up soon. It was 78 here today - an eerie feeling with the drought hanging over head, but hard not to enjoy nonetheless.

        Good (my) morning, Loamers!

Pav, I had to laugh out loud at your idea of a great day alone 'cause it's exactly the same as mine!:H Though what I love the most is waking up in the morning knowing I can follow my own rhythm. I don't remember how many kids you have and their ages-- could you tell me again?

Moss, you're sounding strong today! So nice to hear... I have been living in Germany for 15 years but I am from the States and grew up in AZ and AK. I have always thought I'd move back someday, when the kids are older. More and more I'm realising I will probably end up making plans as to where I live according to where they end up living. It is so hard being so far away from my mom-- for all of us-- and I don't want to be so far away from my girls. Though if they are like me, I will have to have a mobile home to follow them around! And an airplane. I have never known anyone from Wisconsin.

Ava, what's up with the plane? Last night it wasn't even mentioned on the evening news. I am one of those (mild) conspiracy theorists and I find that nothing was said STRANGE! How are you doing today, Lovely?

J-vo, looking forward to hearing how your evening was-- and how you felt with the others. I am going to a book reading tonight and then "drinks" with my best girlfriends tonight. I am not worried at all about drinking because I have already made up my mind that I won't. They all know my problems with AL and I have been pretty straight up-- I did drink in front of them last month, saying that I was "moderating" which I think they bought. Tonight I will tell them about how that Pipedream DIED! I think they will all let out a sigh of relief!

SL, so glad you played it forward and so glad you shared that. As I was reading I thought, "oh no, oh no, oh no. It's such a short amount of relief and leads to so much sorrow!!". I am so glad to be back in this mindset. It has taken such a looooong time. I hope your day today is full of joy!

LB, that sounds like a wonderful idea-- some time to tank up on energy and take care of yourself..

Hugs!! to everyone checking in today.
        How are you today, Daisy?

I will be at the gym at 9am when it opens and will have a great workout. Then a healthy, full of fiber lunch, then I don't know what...

I posted a big post last night that got lost somehow. I will catch up later after I get home from work.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

              Back-up plan

Hey, Loamers (and anyone else )

Lifechange and I were discussing the glitchiness (is that a word?) of the MWO site lately and the financial problems it apparently is having. We would hate to lose contact if it were to be down for an extended period (or permanently!). In the past, some people have proposed developing a mirrored site and others formed a facebook group.

Another idea would be to join e.g. Soberistas, using our MWO user names so we could find one another.

What do you think? Is there a better site already in existence as a back-up?

Pav, I just use the World Clock that is on the iPad to figure out time zones.

Dreamy, if you stop by -- Congrats on 5 months today! You should be honored on every thread on MWO because you contribute to so much to so many of them .

Hi to everyone else! I'm going to post this b/f I lose MWO again which has happened a few times already this morning.

Low attendance around here today - might be the jankety website .

NoSugar signed up at Soberistas.com with the same name and Avatar. It is a pretty good site but my  is with MWO. One thing I kind of like about it is you have to join before you can read other people's posts, blogs, etc.

Enjoy your nap, LC. I think I'll walk my dog - it is cool still but at least the sun is shining brightly.

NS, joining Soberistas would be good back up in case this site goes down. Lets do that. I have no idea about developing a mirrored site.

We could have a 'closed' facebook group I think. That might be the best because the chances of that going down are slim.

Pav, I love your time to yourself...the ice cream sounds yummy

                      Dreamy, congratulations of 5 months!!

Moss, I have never met anyone from Wisconsin either, just like Life. Life, have a great time at the gym. I am going to work out at lunch. This week has been great, I was able to work out at lunch Monday, Wed, Thurs and Fri. That is unusual. Usually I only get 2x. This makes me feel good. Another reason not to drink. I missed so many workouts because I was hungover and just could not get out of bed. The weekends were the worst!

Anyway, I will look into starting a Facebook page and will let you girls know. I hate the thought of losing touch with you beautiful women.

Yeah, FB has closed groups (and likely will be around for a long time) but the amount of tracking done there really creeps me out. I barely do anything on there anymore b/c of all the obvious data mining. I can only imagine what goes on that we can't see!

Soberistas is a much more "modern" website than MWO. I think MWO has kind of evolved over the years whereas newer ones are designed. There are several great articles posted about e.g. health and nutrition, exercise, etc. I think it is a great resource even if we never end up having to move over there.

NoS - you must be dead tired running after me all day - but thank you so much (and the penguiny one), and Nar as well.

I like the idea of a "back-up site", although I really hope it doesn't come to that.

Hi all - just afternoon here, and it has clouded over - supposed to manage 80's this weekend!
                                Week one of diet done
LC - I also don't like being so far from my parents and will likely follow my girls - I hope they don't go in different directions:H We will jusy have to share an airplane.
I did sign into Soberistas a while ago, but just can't get settled there - I am a creature of habit (who knew - wish some of my habits weren't so ingrained:H) - ans I am comfortable here where I know where to go and what to do - I left MWO a couple times when I stepped into the wrong places - and don't want those growing pains again - I hope this site survives...
