Morning all, well Saturday morning here.
Jvo, i am sure my children cannot read. They know i am not drinking but insist on drinking my af drinks. Oh well the cost is minimal compared to the 2 bottles of wine i drank daily. $10 a bottle x 2 = $20 per day, x 7 = $140 per week. Not including the extras thrown in for good measure although if i was broke i would buy $5 bottles which still equals $70 per week. Fizzy drink = 73c per bottle x 3 per day just in case and diet of course and not everyday = $15.33 per week. Win Win I think.
Pav loved your post and like you with your son i am so much calmer. My son who has ADHD and used to take Crack has been in a mood lately so i actually talked rationally to him and he is a lot better now. He gets so angry at himself and at others but being sober it is so much easier to deal with.
Humble, Oh I live in Melbourne sorry i did not mention it before. The time zone sucks especially at night but i am downloading so many shows that it amuses me. It is great that my kids are so supportive, they love the new me and so do i. God forbid anything would happen to my children Humble as i could not imagine the pain and heartbreak you must feel and i would have done exactly the same thing as i would not know how to handle my emotions like a "normal person". Even when my brother died of liver failure from al, we bot shit faced which is sad to say, our excuse was "he would have wanted it". I am sure after admitting i am an alkie that it is the last thing he would have wanted. We cant change the past only our future from now on.
Nar i so dislike cooking. My 20 yr old son actually cooked beef stroganoff last night so he must have been hungry. The cleaning I like as i can see the difference little bits are making in my house as before i was way to hungover to give a shit really. My excuse was "i work 5 days a week and am out of the house for 10 hours" so it could wait. My boys are great at cleaning, i give them 2 jobs, anymore and it wont get done and they do it. Your time away sounds divine and to spend it with the family sober is even better.
NS thanks for the tips on vitamins, i dont take any as they end up in the bathroom cupboard and then I thrown them out as the "use by date" is up. I think i will look into something though as my diet isnt crash hot but when i get that juicer it will be good for at least a month i am thinking.
K9 did you get the haircut? Lets see lets see. What are you doing for Xmas K9 if your daughter is not with you or does she go after?
Well i had a crap sleep, 2am i finally shut my eyes and woke at 8am. I can only seem to manage 6 hours but they are a good 6 hours although i had a strange dream that i cant remember as yet, it will come. I had to post a parcel to my mum so i was out of the house at 9am and also did a quick shop for necessities (soft drink). I kept thinking as i was walking around that this would never have happened with a hangover at all. When i was paying for my groceries I seen people in the al section and i wondered if they were "normal" drinkers or not.
Today is day 21 or 3 WEEKS for me and thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get here and sharing your journeys and struggles with me. I find this thread more personal than NN although i always pop over for a look/see.AF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

Thanks NS but as I said if it wasnt for you guys this would not have been possible again and this time is definitely a different feeling to the others. No Day 1's for me again. Its funny how i still have that fleeting thought of having a glass for xmas to celebrate but what do I really celebrate with al except pain and blackouts and depression and anxiety. I dont call that a cause for celebrating with al and we all know one glass is NEVER EVER enough.
My main holiday plan is to start some exercise. My boys have this huge dog, an american staffy x pit bull and he is the loveliest dog but is like a toddler, full of energy and i need to get off my butt. Other than that spend quality time with my children and summer clean the house. So many cupboards stuffed with crap.AF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

Ava, It is so hard to imagine hot weather at Christmas! Yet that seems normal to you... Well, enjoy your long, long day tomorrow! I like getting past 12/21 so that our days start lengthening. I bet exercise will be good for both you and the puppy!
I'm glad you're feeling so strong!! I had to buy a box of wine today for a get together on Sunday. It is the first time I did that and it was ok. It didn't look any more compelling to me than some of the sugary treats I picked up to serve. I really don't want any of it and it is fine if it is around and others enjoy it. I felt indifferent about all of it (except my bill at the checkout! :H). I think that is a good place to be because I don't want a bunch of negative energy, either.
Don't let the crazies get to you, Dottie! I kind of like seeing the crowds shopping because it means the economy is improving.
Have a great evening, NS

Avail, it's different for me too! Let's keep working on our sober muscle. Hey, how about you clean and I cook. We would make a perfect couple!
K9, lol, my B bits are cheaper than booze for sure, good one!
NS, it's great you can buy that wine and not worry about it.
Dottie, Christmas can be overwhelming for sure. Sitting at home and chilaxing sounds good.
I went to Costco after work, it was nuts!
I am going out with some gals for supper. No booze for me. I do keep having AL thoughts about it but I just have to say No and remind myself I don't want to drink. Because I CANT hAVE ONE!
Hugs,Narilly

Hi, Ladies et. al.
Just finished watching Elf with the family - that is one of our holiday favorites.
I'm off to bed but wanted to pop in and say CONGRATULATIONS to Available for three weeks alcohol free. You sound strong and ready to tackle this thing once and for all. There are a lot of teachers on this thread, so feel free to send your son to us (ha ha).
I'll read back more tomorrow or during my TWO WEEKS OFF! Wahoo. Normally I would have celebrated with a martini. And then another one. And then a drink... You know the drill. I am grateful that I will wake up tomorrow to a clear head and a good night's sleep. My plan for tomorrow is a lot of reading and just relaxing, a hike and MAYBE I'll go into town and try to do a little shopping, although it is totally against my nature.
Hope you are all sleeping well - good night. Good bye, day 19.

Dot it is crazy all over the place, i am sure people think the world is going to end and have to buy everything in sight. I am going out early Monday morning to buy seafood and salad and that is me. It will be 29 celcius on xmas day so a quite warm day.
NS melbourne is very seasonal, we can have 4 seasons in one day but they are predicting hot then again it could rain who knows with this State. I cant imagine sitting around to a hot meal on xmas we always have salads and cold meats, only the real die hards cook a baked dinner.
Nar you will be happy to know that the cleaning phase lasted yesterday today i did nothing but yes if you cook i will clean, we now need to decide where we are going to live ha ha.
Pav Elf was on last night and i watched it also. Not a xmasy movie person but that is all there is. Two weeks off, what are your plans other than not drinking? Tomorrow i plan on cleaning my tv cabinet and going for a walk, nothing like tomorrow to start something.
Very quiet around MWO but just thought i would check in to be accountable and to make sure everyone is fine and dandy. Chat tomorrow xAF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

MAE, all.
Pav, thanks for the link. It really helps me right about now since I'm off work with lots of time on my hands. Congrats on day 20.
J-vo, Towards the end there I felt a bit uncomfortable about my son's safety even though he was a very cautious young man and I lifted him up daily for protection. Didn't work obviously, or at least didn't work in the way I wanted it to. Sorry to read about your friend and her daughter. It is the worst loss. My son and his friend went kayaking in Puget sound and never returned.
Available, here's the horrific part of my alcoholic brain. When my son and his friend went missing (I knew he was dead even though they were still searching, mother's intuition), I remember being at the store with my brother and husband picking up alcohol thinking that I now had an excuse to get plowed. What a terrible thing to think. I'm only sleeping about 6 hours a night myself, but it's okay since I wake up relaxed and ready to go. About your cupboards, lol. My plan is to clean out my closet during the break. It's a semi walk in but I can't see the floor. Congrats on your 3 weeks.
NS, I will need to pick up a bottle of sweet wine for my 93 yr old mom for Christmas dinner. She rarely drinks and never to excess, except when my dad died. And she said afterwards she did that to spite him. He always said she would never become a drinker, so she would shake her fist at the heavens and say "See! You were wrong!" Lasted about a year, then she went back to pretty much teetotaling it.
Nar, the snow is almost gone here since it's warmed up a bit. Have fun in Banff. I've always heard how beautiful it is there. We used to go to Harrison Hot Springs a lot, which is also stunning. Have fun at your sober breakfast!
As for supplements, I agree. As long as you are healthy and eating well, they probably aren't necessary. During this time of recovering from alcohol abuse, though, I am taking some, like a good liver cleanse capsule, B, C, and primrose oil. I take D too especially with our lack of sunshine around here.
Sounds like everyone feels pretty good. Have a great AF day.Every AF day is a milestone.

Hi Girls,
Well, it seems like we've got a lot of free time on our hands Ladies! But also, we have lots of good plans in place and it seems as our heads are in the right place as well. My next two weeks will be pretty much full of relaxing, driving to visit my parents who live about 5 hours away, and enjoying some basketball. Oh, I'm teaching son how to drive as well. That starts tomorrow. I took him out once, but he's been so busy with school and basketball, no time. Wish me luck.
Nar, have fun at the resort. Sounds like it'll be great family time! That smoothie sounds full of good nutrients. You go girl!!!
Ava, good savings! I can say that we are saving some money, too. Lots. So I think I may go out and buy myself something special. I need a new chain/necklace, and that may be a little x-mas present to myself. Enjoy the puppy! Oh, they are just like babies, but so lovable.
Dot, I'm taking on the mall tomorrow. Ugh! But gotta do it. Hope you're doing well!
Pav, you're sounds very strong and at peace. Thanks for all your wonderful posts!
NS, thanks for all the info on the vitamins. I have a chiropractor friend who also got certified in nutrition a few years back. I'm going to work with him on this.
Have a productive day ladies! And now that we have officially entered our Holiday Season, please check in often as possible. We need to take care of each other and give support when needed. Love you Ladies!:hSometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Hi Humble, just missed your post as I was posting myself! You're sounding good too, my friend.
I read a book on a woman who died kyacking in Chili then came back to life It was an amazing story. It was also featured in a documentary along with others who have had a similar experience. So incredible and I BELIEVE. I know that we will see our loved ones again. And I pray daily, sometimes more, that we all stay strong, and beat this beast. God, give us all strength. Amen.Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Hi, All:
Humble, it is amazing to me how strong you are. I can imagine wanting to go straight to the AL to numb those feelings. I feel like you've been doing this for a long time - you really sound solid. Thanks for your support here.
J-Vo - As I remember, your "slip" was a couple of glasses of wine, not an all out binge, so today is sort of your two month minus a day as I look at it. You sound very strong, too. I actually will not be busy today - I am being sloth like on my first day of vacation! I am like Dottie - can't stand the hoopla. I usually go for restaurant gift certificates and books from the local independent store for my family - things I would want to receive. We are getting a ping pong table for our big present for all four of us. Can't wait!
Narilly - I have always wanted to go to Banff - have a great time.
NS - I can buy wine until the cows come home - not really my drink of choice. Although in a pinch, I certainly would drink it. I'd really drink anything in a pinch... Are you hosting a family party at your house?
OK, all. I have to go. A little disruption in the calm at my house. I hope you all have great days. I will certainly check in later. xo
