SL, let me clarify the shopping thing. The paint is for the finished basement that we are going to paint for DS. We had it finished years ago, and now he wants to start hanging down there with his friends, so we have to repaint, clean the carpet, get new padding under the carpet, and lots of other stuff. And the fireplace screen is not what you're thinking. The screen needs to be placed on top of our chimney, as we have so many stink bugs that come and visit us through our fireplace. We have it duck-taped for now because they crawl through the fp door. I hate stink bugs! One fell on top of my head the other morning!

Another beautiful morning! But this is extra special because it's Saturday and I woke up at 7 a.m. My sleep is getting really good now, and I'm able to enjoy a full weekend day feeling great. Wow. I'm so grateful right now. My plan for the day...workout, hot tub, DS has a double header, and a nice dinner at home with DH as DS will probably make plans with friends. And to boot, it's going to be 74 degrees! Wow! No school work or house work until tomorrow!!!!! I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

Have a great day ladies, and welcome Gardener!

It is really great to hear you sound so upbeat, J-vo! It helps to have the nice weather (finally!) but I think some of the sunshine is coming from you! Enjoy your day as only a person who did not drink the night before can .

Good to see you, Gardener. Like Pav said, people who post on this thread and try to really engage are for the most part getting a handle on this AF thing. We've talked before about how it is difficult for you to avoid social events due to your work and lifestyle so you aren't likely to take the Hermit Route to being AF that I and some others used. What are your plans for not drinking when you go out tonight and other nights? My experience was that sheer will-power worked for a short period but just was not enough to get me to the other side . If you put your ideas out here, you'll probably get some feedback if you want it.

My plan is to BE OUTSIDE as much as possible today. Have a good one!

Pav i know exactly what you mean by thinking about that first drink on a friday. I obsessed about it. Of course, it didnt stay the friday drink - i found and used every imaginable excuse for weekday drinking.

Narilly hang in there - thinking of you at this time. You have made such a difference to me!
          Hugs to all the ladies.

Pav - mine is May (BD that is)
j-vo - ohhhhhh, ok, forget the shopping!! I like getting things to make our girls home homey - we have worked hard to build ourselves a little haven
Thanks for the continuing congrats - its funny, I was not even looking to 50, had the 60 on my calendar - but the 50 became a biggie.
So.....need a little rant, and a whine too I suppose.
Why do I let my ex get my gander up??? I wish i could stop.....I have pinched and scraped to save to send both girls with school trips to Washington - it has beeen expensive, but I think it is worth it. I do without and am happy to do so....really! I get no help from him, no child support, nothing - he actually owes me a few thousand. I ran around on breaks yetserday to get stuff for the eldest who leaves before sun up on monday - I have tried to teach her to save, and she has got money for birthday and christmas gifts, so we raided her savings for the trip - put money in diffenrent envelopes to budget etc - and his lordship turns up with a couple hundred and just gave it to her....no offers to help pay for trip, to buy gear for the trip - just looks like the best dad in the world with a bundle of cash!! And I let it really bother me.....
So get on here and bitch to the Loamers - so I don't get grumpy in front of the girls. I hope he has the time to go and sign divorce paperwork that he has not had time to do for couple months, never mind paying the lawyers fees.....BIG SIGH - back to being the nagging mom....

When all is said and done, SL, your girls will know who their real parent is - the one they could trust and count on and who always was and will be there for them. Even now your daughter probably sees what just went on but hey, 200 bucks is nice. So, he's the popular parent for the moment but that will take him only so far in their eyes. Kids know what is going on. I'm so impressed with how you handle such a tough situation with your ex. You are a strong woman.

                xx- NS

SL - I know how hard it is to stay gracious and sane when your ex is being "Disneyland Dad." But hang in there, NS is right. My sons are adults now, and they see their dad for who he is. They still love him (thank God), but they know who he really is. Trust me - your girls will see the truth one day. Until then, stay strong.

MR and NS - thank you! I know this in my heart, I just hate how he can push my buttons! I wish I could push some of his...not really, have better things to do...I just hate that he gets such a reaction out of me - would definatley be a drinking response in the past, glad I did not go there.....well, I did a little, but kicked it to the curb...

                      Hi, Loamers:

SL-- Your kids will definitely appreciate the understanding of the value of money when they get older. You have taught them that travel and getting out there is very important, and that to make it work they have to save, budget, etc. When Disneyland Dad (love it) dries up, they'll have their financial skills to take care of themselves.

Good job kicking those thoughts to the curb. I'm with you on the 60 days - I'm for some reason (months, I guess) into the 30 day hurdles.

I'm fighting off the doldrums today - very logy and kind of depressed feeling. I went for a walk and now am going to do some sun salutations. I'm sure I'll be back later.

                      xo

Pav, hope you feel a little happier tomorrow. This one's for you...:l

Today was a really nice day. Double header and won both games. Beautiful day to sit and watch the boys play. We're playing Franklin on Monday so we decided to do a little tribute to them with the boys wearing a ribbon on their uniforms with their school colors, balloons with their school colors. The students won't go back to school until this coming Wednesday.

                          Have a good sleep ladies!

Gardener so glad to see you. Just hang with us a little every day and we will help you get to where you want to go.
Pav you sound so wonderful. The day in the sun must have been wonderful.
SL I am sorry your ex is so self centered. My daughter quickly realized who was the parent when she got a little older. She loves her dad. But she knows who did the work.
Ava hope you are having a great time.
Giraffe hope you have a great Sunday. I need to find out which time zone you are in. I love how we are from so many different places but are the same at heart.
Hubby and I are havinf a weekend trip away. Dog friendly motel, heated saltwater pool, fun food. All we did was eat, relax, swim. Boy did we both need this.
Jane hope you have as much fun as we are.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

Today was full of sun, outdoor exercise, the fun kind of shopping with a friend (antique stores, consignment shops - TREASURE HUNTS!). I didn't actually get anything, which is even better .

I also picked up a book from our neighborhood Little Free Library (Welcome - Little Free Library). It is a mystery/thriller book - a genre I haven't read for many years. In fact, I've really gotten away from reading sort of mindless books just for the fun of it. For too long, I drank instead, and for the last year or so I've mostly been "learning". I have had a blast really getting into this book. I took a break to check in here and now I'm afraid that if I start reading again, I might be up until the wee hours of the night until I finish! I haven't done that since I read a John Grishom novel years and years ago.

It is weird to realize some of the little things that AL took from us without our even really knowing it. It is so nice to get them back. There are so many things I hope never to take for granted again.

                              Good night. NS

Hi ladies. I hope everybody doing well. Good to see you all - LB, NS, MR, Pavati, jvo, life change, available and everybody else sorry if I missed somebody. I am doing well, still doing hot yoga 5 times a week. It does wonders for my body (lost 45 lb since October) and amazing things to my mind - memory is strong, focused and great clarity. I highly recommend to try it. I would never be able to do it while still drinking. And now this practice of yoga helps me to maintain my sobriety.
