Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

    Hi ladies,
Great day. Gym then a fund raising dinner at church. Wouldn't have done that in the past as it would have interfered with my nightly wine. This is SO much better.
Chores around here tomorrow. Need some rain. It is too hot this early in the season. Guess it has to be hot to make up for being so darn cold all winter...crazy weather!

Im with you LB i have size 10 and 12 clothes as i am in between and now the 12's are fitting snug as a bug in a rug but i dont care one iota. i never ate while drinking and i hate to imagine what that did to my body, one meal a day if that and the rest was wine. If i have to buy bigger i dont care and hey a new wardrobe, i can live with that!

lb I said something similar earlier this week. I am tired of beating myself up over the weight thing. I am getting healthy with eating and hitting the gym so if the weight is stuck it is just stuck...I totally get it!

I'm with you Dot, i would have always done what i had to do before drinking started and then the rest could go to hell. Now i know i can do anything anytime i want and not have to take anxiety meds to get me out of the door.

We have had a cold spell which is way too early for Aus. 4 celcius this morning and that is way too cold this time of year for here. Good thing i am in bed and sick i say. Well not really but it has its bonus's.

Good for you, LB. The main thing is to be happy and now that we don't drink, we can be!

Counting calories is a waste of time anyway. People are not bomb calorimeters, the instrument used to determine how much energy is in a certain amount of a food! We are full of enzymes and transporters and hormones, all of which affect what we do with the nutrients we consume. 100 calories of almonds and 100 calories of steak and 100 calories of ice cream look the same in a bomb calorimeter but not in our bodies.

Jane - I am sorry if I sounded unappreciative - I was not at all! Shingles is not the sort of ailment I deal with - had to do a pile of research myself:H
I can join the party - 15lbs overweight - cannot understand why such a drastic change in my intake has caused me to put on weight, I remember everyone dieting by cutting back on drinking, but not happening here!!

                Hi, everyone:

                Sweet post, Sweet Jane. Thanks.

SL - so sorry about your shingles. I heard it is terrible. Sorry you're in bad way, but I DO love your new avatar.

Ava - poor you. You have been sick for so long! Imagine how great you'll feel when you finally feel normal. I think that you'll be the best counselor ever - if the cost for your class is too much, let us know. We can throw a bake sale or start a GoFundMe site or something. Now that I know it is in the cards, I KNOW it is in the cards. That is wonderful.

LB - I don't mind critters of the scaly and hairy variety - it's those crazy gigantic insects you have down there that scare me to death. Good thing you have that music and food to get me to want to visit. The conference I was going to attend this summer was cancelled, so I'll have to find another way to get there...

J-Vo - you say school bus and a specific smell creeps into my consciousness. Hope the little buggers haven't driven you insane yet. Your post about all you are planning to do was great. One word of caution from Pav - don't overdo! Ellie (one Crafty mother) talks about workaholism being her downfall that helped lead her to relapse - she didn't take time to reflect, work on her sobriety and take care of herself. You sound so strong now - just don't forget to take care of yourself, too.

NS - Thanks for the calorie information. Sometimes I am on overwhelm with it all. Just eat good food, don't eat a bunch of sugar, and don't eat when I'm not hungry (that is a particular strength of mine). Sounds so simple... I visited Kimberley's thread - that book sounds interesting and she is another MWO success story. Love to hear those.

Nar - You must be warming up by now, right? And SURELY there are critters in Canada...

Dot - You sound great - You also sound so busy. YOU take care of yourself, too.

Rahul - hope we didn't scare you away. Or you G, for that matter.

                Good night, ladies!

                xo

Narilly I would love to see moose. Yes our insects are crazy. Mosquitos are the worst as far as I am concerned.
Ava a new wardrobe is a wonderful idea.
                  Jane you are cool.
I'm working on things here this morning. I sure appreciate all of you ladies.
                  SL love the new avatar.
NS I always felt that its not the calories but the nutrition. I always loved that milk commercial "don't count your calories, make your calories count."
                  Have a great day.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

                    Hi ladies,
Got flowers from my step daughter today. Since I don't have any kids she will inherit whatever I have left. Dh's son and I don't get along as well. I married him when they were adults so not sure what his issue is but we have been together for almost 20 years so that is his issue not mine.
NS thanks for the calorie info. I totally agree. At this age what difference does it make. I look pretty good in most everything I wear so why stress over it. I lost 15 pounds in the first 3-4 months after I quit so maybe this is where I should be who knows but as long as I eat healthy and exercise not sure what else I can do. Not worth starving over.
Laundry is calling my name so may just stay in today. Still want to get some flowers but mothers day weekend may not be the best time.

                      Hello ladies,
I am super busy at work and last night was too tired to post. I did read the thread though and love all the posts.
NS, thanks for the links. I eat really healthy but can always learn new things.

J-Vo, ha ha, I thought you were 5'7 too! I guess we both sound like tall women!

Ava, 4C? Wow, this am it was -1C here and going up to +18C, YES!! I can't wait until you get better Ava dear. You have been through the ringer, both you and SL.
                      Big hugs from me.

Feeling a bit better today - pain subsiding (it was shooting into ear, and I can still hear - was worried about nerve damage!) - just the rash to deal with, which looks a bit better and healing....really annoying now
Jane - hope you are right too - I could do with something good happening!! Gonna hold you to it!
Weekend coming sooon - think I will take tomorrow off and get hair cut (wiat - hope you are not refering to this as my good stuff Jane - don't particularilly like getting hair cut:H)

Haircut? Now I can really relate to that.

Hairdressers are on a par to dentists to me. And I'm not joking.

Last haircut I had was for my 50th in october, my mum got me a voucher so I had to go. Nearly hyperventilated going into the salon.

Cut was nice though to be fair
