Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

I like my hairdresser - just don't like getting my hair done - I am getting psyched up for it already! Glad to see I have company in this phobia!!

Oh now you put the pressure on Rox! I just go in and tell her it is her hair, do with it what you will - she is the hairdresser and she knows best - I have no clue as to what works...it will need some colour and a tidy up for sure!

Come on SL, spice it up a bit! Let's get you lookin' HOT!
          Step it up sista!

Or as my hair dresser would say-
"look out bitches, here I come and I am looking fabulous!"
He is too funny. He has a totally gay assistant who tells inappropriate jokes all the time. And his comments about guys that come into the shop to buy clothes (big girl clothes because they are cross dressers) are so hilarious!

I feel like I am on a reality show everytime I go there.

Hey- and this is Canada not New York!

Jane I am glad your hubby is taking the diabetes thing in stride.
I too don't like haircuts. Too many bad ones as a child!
I am so glad tomorrow is Friday. Long, hard work week. Busy is good.

Well sweet ladies, I am in bed. I was looking at my hair before bed and now I think I need a haircut too!
I guess you are rubbing off on me.

Well. I am 26 days sober and I know I do not have any AL thoughts.

It's off the table, right Pav?

NS, I really appreciate all the links you send and information you give us. It literally has saved me. I listen to The Bubblehour over and over. Dr Kelly is my new hero.

              LB, hugs to you.
SL, I hope those damn Shingles go away soon!
Ava, my Aussie friend, get better, I miss you.

                I just lost a post!
                First time, that's a bummer.

Well, I am going to sleep now and will post tomorrow. Grateful to be sober.

Thanks, Nar. My daughter calls me the Information Station. It might be a compliment, might not . There are some podcasts I've listened to several times and seem to hear/learn different things each time. Guess it just depends what stage we're in when we're exposed to a particular idea.

                    Hi, Everyone:

YES! I find this same thing even with advice you all give in the nest. There are some posts of Byrdie's the likes of which I have heard her repeat many times and then all of a sudden - bang - I get it. That's another reason I think it makes a difference for me to stick around here.

Way to go, Nar - Off the table it goes. So proud! I love the picture of your haircut place - I want to go there, too! I haven't found my dream place yet - right now going to a gal I have known since high school. The cuts are "ok" but nothing fabulous. Maybe I'm ready for fabulous. I'm lucky that I don't have much grey yet, so I haven't gone for the color. Still not sure about that (I'm too lazy with haircuts and know I'd be that person walking around with one inch grey roots). We'll see... I can say that I don't share the phobia of haircuts (tonsurephobia) - I actually enjoy the head massage and chance to sit for a bit.

Rox and SL - hope you make it... If not, I hear long hair is making a comeback...

Jane - I like that meditation - what is around the corner? That's sort of what I try to do in my really down moods. Rather than go around them (with alcohol), I try to remember that they'll go away and then do the things that I think help - exercise, post here, see friends, hang with the family. My DH getting diagnosed with pre-diabetes seems to have helped, too. He now exercises four or five times a week (up from zero).

Dot - you sound so great, strong and centered. So glad you're leading the way for us. The sober energy agrees with you...

NS - I agree - thanks for dropping the knowledge. I don't always read it all right away, but I know it is there when I need it, and often go back to it.

LB - Hope all your "stuff" is working out ok. We're with you for whatever you need.

Ava - :l That's all, now go back to sleep.

I told another friend today that "I think it might be forever" (she had said, wow, you've been on the wagon a long time). She was impressed. I told her one of my biggest fears was that I wouldn't be able to have the same fun, but thus far that has been unfounded. I have spent MANY nights getting very silly and having a ton of fun with her, but haven't seen her in a while (jobs and families). I hope we can still do that - and I think we can.

Night, all. So Happy It's Thursday, or S.H.I.T. (that used to crack me up in high school :H).

It looks like we will start the family meetings again. I am definitely using that relationship information NS. That was very helpful to me.
