NS, thanks for reposting Turnagain's awesome post from NN. That's a keeper! I'm going to study that post like I'm getting ready to take a huge test on it.
Jane, it breaks my heart to hear about your mom.:l I'm gonna pray for you, dear girl.
Jane and NS, love your tech abilities. If I didn't know you two better, I'd think you were both show-offs! But I know better.
Tomorrow will be my first bike ride with a girlfriend. We're going to ride along a river trail into or near the city. I'm really excited, but it's suppose to rain tomorrow. So we'll see.
Have a good night ladies!Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Hi, Ladies:
So very busy at work as we finish finals and get ready for graduation - getting all those kids to finish all they need to do... I promise a more considerate response to everything when my head is above water soon...
Jane - So sorry about your mom and all that you are going through. I am so glad you're here on this journey with us and that we might be able in some small way to help you. Love to you, sweet Jane.
NS - THANKS for reposting that. A very good read.
NAR!!!!! 60 days!!! Whoot.
Daisy!!!!30 days!!! Whoot.
Pat!!!!2 weeks!!! Whoot.
I love, love, love seeing us all reach these big milestones.
Actually, Nar, I did get an unexpected after-work hike in. My sister came to visit and we ended up on a five miler on some hills around here. I feel so much better (read Turnagain's post) when I exercise.
Smooches to you ladies.

Jane, your real life story really fits in with what your dreams are saying, don't you think? You have a determination and honesty about you that I believe are key to you being able to get past, or live with this in a different way......talking things out, getting it off your chest is good....hope you feel better soon.IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO BE WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN

Giraffe, I meant that I am 61 days AL today! Actually I am only 50 years old...NOT 61 yet
sorry about the confusion!
Hope you have a great day, I am sure the weather is perfect down there!
Ava, I was thinking about your post yesterday. It came to my mind a few times. That is so sad about the 54 year old lady that was in intensive care. Ya, thank goodness it was not one of us. It is amazing all the things you see there that are related to AL.
SL says the same. She sees people everyday who are sick because of AL. It is interesting that most people don't have a clue really how bad AL is for us health wise and how it totally can destroy our lives.
NS, thank you for re posting that.
Jane, wow, that was quite a post. I went to the Nest to read. You are a strong woman, hopefully we can help you in some way here.
Pav, it is grad here. They were talking on the news about all the grad celebrations going on and how the kids were having water fights at school. The end of the year is kinda crazy. I am sure you will be happy when summer starts.
Saying that: Yay! I am sober- 61 days now, thank goodness and thank you ladies.Narilly

After reading Turns post I tore into the exercise today (done very little for 2 weeks). Cycled 6 miles and just swam 64 lengths and feel great! I was a bit blah before it - it really does lift you, and the thing is, the more you do, the more energy you have....IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO BE WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN

Good for you Daisy! I'm going to go do my DVD shortly,
I'm gonna add to your comment Nar. I think some people know, but the fear of quitting stops them. They don't think they can tackle the addictive beast. They've tried and tried, but shear willpower doesn't work. And maybe they just never come to terms with wanting to quit and feel that this rock bottom is where they'll live forever - they've accepted that this is their life. My neighbor, whom I've mentioned before, was in the hospital this past January from cirrhosis of the liver at age 44. She drank vodka. She had severe anxiety and depression. She doesn't live next door to me anymore. Moved down the street about 8 years ago, but I remember when she was sloppy drunk, because i was sometimes with her.
Even when she was in the hospital, her husband was denying that she was an alcoholic. I don't know if she received any support, but the way she's lived, I doubt it. She has a teaching degree and never looked for a job after she student taught because she said she hated it. She's lived a lonely life, even though she has three children and a husband. I think about her a lot.
No bike riding today. Rain! Not complaining though. Have a great day ladies.Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Holy smokes Daisy! That is awesome. I wish I could go and swim (not 64 lengths) but some anyway. I love to exercise and it sure does make me feel good. At least I got my walk in this am on the way to work and will walk back home. (about 70minutes total)
No probs Giraffe! I am glad I quit before I was 61.
OH, now I am excited! I thought we were only having A pool boy but sure lets have a bunch of em!
J-Vo, I think it would be easy for any of us to go down the road of Never quitting drinking. It is so hard to get to this point and Really quit! So many things have to happen just to make the decision to quit. Even then, it is freakin' difficult to stop. We all know that!
Your story of your neighbor is really sad. I can see her husband saying that. We are the masters of deception when it comes to our drinking. Ya, and the lonliness that comes with this addiction SUCKS!!
Well, back to work.Narilly

Jane you are wonderful. I truly enjoy reading your posts. I feel that you are genuine and strong. You really make a difference here. And honestly I think we are all screwed up in some way. That's human life. Everyone has something. And I am sorry so many died who are close to you. You have my sympathy. :l
J-vo I hope you get that bike ride in soon.
NS thank you for that repost from the NN. I have a confession. Since my Easter Sugar Binge I have been very careful with my diet. I have come very close to eliminating sugar from my diet and I have been eating a very healthy, mostly vegetarian diet. I have lost a little weight, off my middle where I want it to go, my back has stopped screaming in agony when I get up in the mornings, and most importantly, cravings and urges to drink are almost non existent. I feel much better. And my moods have leveled out a bit. It's not all perfect, but it really seems to be helping.
I especially liked the part of that post that talks about how toxic and addictive alcohol is. It almost seems to me that anyone whondrinks on a regular basis, as we all started out doing, ends up in the same place. Wishing we could stop drinking and not understanding why it's so difficult.
Ava hope you have a great sleepover and you actually get some rest. :H Sorry for the crap week.
Narilly I think of you often. Walking and listening to the bubble hour. BTW I think 70 minutes of walking a day is Huge. That's quite a workout. I
istened to the bubble hour today. I was feeling down and it helped pick me up it was the one on perfectionism. Much of it could have been directed straight at me.No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

Lil B, you are perfect to me! I really enjoyed the bubble hour pod cast on perfection. Some of it kind of reminded me of myself. Like my mom always giving me grief if I ever was just sitting around. She thought I should be busy all the time, 'don't waste time". So now I find I have a really hard time just to sit down and relax. I feel guilty if I am not always busy. I am working on that though. When I drank I would do stupid things lke laundry, wash the dogs, vaccum so then I would not feel guilty when I woke up hungover. I would still feel guilty though.
J-Vo, I am using my keyboard right now to type on my mini. It is a wireless one. Holy smokes, I am so cool!
So I went to a lobster boil tonight with Mr Nar, we went to this last year and both drank quite a bit. Of course, we had a huge fight afterwards and I was hungover the next day. This year he had a beer and I drank tonic water with lime and an orange piece in it and some gingerale. It was a lot of fun. It was especially fun driving home and going to bed absoloutely SOBER! I LOVE that!
I am sure you beautiful ladies know how incredibly awesome it is to free from the burden of drinking. This is an amazing journedy and I am honoured to be on it with you.
Ava, the sleep over sounds great. Make sure you wear that low cut nighty!
SL, post soon!
Goodnight.Narilly

Hi, All:
I just am getting in bed after a LONG day, including a graduation at the end of it. I'm pretty sure I have never missed a graduation since I've been working in high schools, so that puts it at 23? Wow. Anyway - if you work in a high school, you work for graduation for everyone, so this is a great day every year. Very tiring and hard work, but so worth it, and so much fun.
Went out with the staff afterwards where normally I would have sucked a few back. Drank fuzzy water instead and still laughed a lot and had a great time. And now I am going to sleep still buzzed from the day instead of foggy from alcohol. So happy.
I'll be away this weekend for the memorial for my good friend who died last week - I will be back to posting to you all directly more next week.
Sounding great ladies.
xo
