        Hey Nar!
I had the same kind of night. DH went to the casino and DH was out. I had quiet here with some candles and just read. I'm reading Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now. It's pretty intense but very good information. Living in the NOW, knowing that we are not our minds. Our minds are past, present, and future. I think this is a good book for me. I tend to always be in the past or present and never now. What time is it? The TIME IS NOW!

        Have a relaxing night.

          Hi, Everyone:

WAY TO GO ELOISE! 90 is such a big deal. Congratulations on your hard work and determination - through the move and everything. So glad you're finding success - 100 is SO close.

LB - I'm with NS - to have gone what you have gone through for yourself AND having to carry someone along with you. A remarkable feat. All the while you have been supporting all of us as well. Honored to be here with you.

Ava - HBD to Tye. Glad you had mom/son time. I hugged my son good night tonight in front of his friend and he hugged me back anyway. Hope we can raise some caring compassionate men!

J-Vo and Nar - I wish I had a dog here with me. We are all gone from home so much that I feel too guilty to get a dog just to leave him/her home alone. Our upstairs neighbors have a dog that we get to visit with a lot. I AM tucked into bed with my reading, however. Lovely.

LC - One day at a time isn't an AA slogan for nothing. It really helps. Sometimes it is one hour at a time if need be. Reading and learning all I could is what seems to be working for me - I am very rational and it gives me something to THINK about.

Jane - I like the chips you give us, but I like the pool boys better...

Daisy and Pat - I hope you ARE around and start posting again soon.

Wags - Hope you are well. Ginger, Giraffe, everyone else I missed...

          HAPPY FRIDAY!

Good morning ladies... very early here so many are still resting.

Husband was complaining our new living space isn't cozy. I will stay here this week-end and try and empty a few more boxes. Cozy is a tall order around here. The space is more than 2000 square feet, quite a lot more actually. So I guess I have to do groupings of furniture with rugs? For goodness sake, I ask you... is this really important just now?

hm. I really surprised he is behaving like this ladies.
Don't get me wrong, it is a lot better than the day of the surgery but still....

I am just going at my own pace as best I can. I cannot keep up with him right now and I think that is okay.

Just gonna stay close and do my best!

Just a comment... but aren't doggies just amazing creatures? What a lovely gift of joy they can be....

              Good Morning, Ladies!

I slept for 11 whole hours last night and feel refreshed. A bit of a kink in the back, but I think that's more to lack of stretching. One of my 3 things to do today. Somehow I have 5 things on my list! Hmmm.. Might have to cut out doing the dishes. Though that's the one I've cut out for the past 3 days!!:H I'm on my own and living like a bachelor. Little one comes this afternoon so I will straighten up a bit--also one on my list.
Ava, did you separate rooms in the house on your list??! Feels a bit cheeky to me, but I'm doing it anyway. Hope you've been having a lovely day thus far. Did you have cake and ice cream? Is that traditional in Australia for birthdays? Look forward to hearing how it all goes! I've been wanting to say that I love your avatar! It makes me smile every time I see it.
J-vo and Nar, sounds like you both had snuggly, cosy evenings. My favourite. Although I'm so lazy at the moment, that I'm just watching films. I have "Lit" to read-- and I've been wanting to read, "The Power of NOW", and will order it.
Pav, I also want a dog! I have 2 lovely cats, but they're.... cats! They're looking at me with googly eyes as I write, so I'll watch what I say. I'm trying to convince my ex, who lives about a 5 minute bike ride away and shares custody of the girls, to do a dog share with me. When the girls are here, the dog is here and vice versa. He's retired and has a much better set up for a dog, but doesn't think it's fair to have one in the city. We'll see--we're still working on it! Hope you have some nice plans for the weekend.
Jane I read the group poems last night and they are soooo funny. I laughed so hard. What a great idea!!
:l to El and LB and Wags and Giraffe and Daisy and Pat and Ginger and NS and everyone checking in today. Hope it's a great weekend for all.. I know I'll be here a lot!

You are getting the hang of those 3 things LC and even if you procrastinate thats fine. Slowly does it, sometimes i am so slow i could stop from doing nothing. My house is pretty open so no separate rooms as if i start then i have to do the lot. I love soaking dishes for hours and i never wipe, its always drain!

that pic was tyes birthday party where i so wanted to drink but everyone says how happy i looked. hysterically happy i am thinking but they are sober memories and not pics of me with my eyes half closed and a wine glass in hand and leaning on someone.

We normally have a cake (bought one as i am finding it hard enough just cooking, hate cooking) with candles, i bought sparklers in the shape of a 2 and a 1 as he used to love trying to blow sparklers out when he was a baby. Waiting for the girls to turn up. need to go for a walk which i have procrastinated about all day but im so tired and had physio yesterday and she aggravated my shoulder. Im going even if it is for half an hour i am going!.

So sweet when the little ones try blowing out sparklers! It will be funny to watch a 21 year old at it!! I'm also procrastinating with the exercise on my list. But I will do some form today, as it is the most important to my well being.
Washed the dishes and did the shopping--bought LOTS of gorgeous veggies at the market--red beetroot with greens, cauliflower, tuscan kale, lettuces, green beans, some mushrooms. then chicken breasts and spices. You'd think I was going to feed an army! I'm throwing away the rest of the ice cream (I bought some cheap, nasty stuff) and I want to have my fridge full of ready options. My daughter called me this morning to say she'd picked a bunch of plums yesterday and would like to bake a cake tomorrow morning--oven roasted baby plum cakes from Julia Childs with whipped cream. Heaven!
So, time for lunch and then I'm going to tackle one more little bout of cleaning.
Can you all tell this wonderful place is functioning as my journal today? Helps keep me focussed! xo

Good on you Daisy, i was worried about you but knew you would return.

I went for an hour long walk after trying to talk myself out of it, dinner was at 8pm and i had 4 starving children but thats ok. made tye his carbonara and we had a cake so a lovely lovely night. kiera bought over two bottles of wine so her and mia had a few wines, i poured and spilt some on my hand, mia told me to lick it up so i could go back to day 1. I declined. These family situations i dont want to drink. when i did drink i normally got drunk but saved passing out till my bedroom where i had a bottle stashed.

LC journal away, its nice to see what everyone does.

Daisy!! I am so happy to have you back here on the mission! There is nothing more important to our lives then to find our ways out, right? What are you up to today?

Ava, you inspire me!! Sounds like such a lovely evening with your kids. Perfect!

I just finished cleaning my daughter's room-- normally I don't like to do it for her , but I wanted to give her a little surprise. And she will be so pleased. And now I am DONE with any chore/work for the weekend. Yayy! Gonna read a bit around the boards (it seems quiet all around so far today--but guess many are still sleeping) then out for a walk. See you in a bit...

                            Good (my) morning, LC.
It is really nice to wake up and find posts from you again :l.

Daisy, it is great that you're ready to get back to where you were. Read your old posts! You were so productive and happy. And aren't you going to start child care in your home? I know those children are going to be much easier to handle without a hangover.

Licking would be better than chugging, Ava, but it's great that you did neither!

El, it is time to be a little more selfish than usual. Your husband won't die from lack of coziness but you could die from drinking so... Just do what you need to do for you for awhile. Later, when you're feeling good (and good about yourself), it is easier to make an extra effort and give people what they need. I hope your surgery wound is healing nicely.

J, you sound really calm and thoughtful about quitting - and that you're reading the "right" things. I think the more unpressured and relaxed you can be, the more likely you are not to be derailed.

We all need a general plan and "emergency procedures" but once the first week or so is past, not drinking can be part of your normal life, not something you have to be focused on minute to minute. If you have too many things you feel like you "must" do to stay sober, odds are you'll not be able to get one done and that can be used as an excuse to just give up. Like one of Jane's avatars said, Keep it simple!

Hi, Pav - you're sounding really great. Glad you made it through the BLAHS .

Off to yoga. Have a great MAE!

                              Morning Ladies,

Last night was perfect. I didn't even turn the tv on. Had a few candles lit, and read about Relapse Prevention and PAWS (Pav, I thought of you as you were always talking about this)I think being aware of oneself is and what's going on inside of us has been one of my missing links. And also continuing to read Eckert Tolle's Power of Now. I'm really connecting with this book. My mind is constantly in the past, or worrying about the future. Lots of good info to gain and practice from this. And what he says parallels on a successful recovery. One day at a time is beginning to make more sense to me now. One moment at a time. This is something I really need to be aware of when I start back to work. I try to do everything, worry about getting everything done, what I did, what I didn't do yet. No kid is gonna die because I forgot to do something or I was late to class because I had to pee. And no administrator is going to tell me I can't pee or tell me my lesson plans were late. Well, yea, they may, but I can pleasantly agree and move on.

LC, I loved Lit. Excellent author. And you're sounding so great and full of energy, Your daughter will be pleased about her room! Type away. I love reading your posts as they have so much energy in them and that transfers to me.

El, hope you're feeling better! And take it easy, will ya! I agree, doggies are amazing creatures. Love mine.

Daisy, so glad you're back on the mission with us! I'm going to repost the relapse prevention and PAWS articles that I read last night here. Take a gander. May be helpful to you as it was for me.

Getting ready to go for breakfast at a famous breakfast spot. Love the crepe pancakes. Sorry NS, but gotta have them. Son and MIL are going too!

                              Have a great day.
