Spent time with a friend today. She is a drinker and wanted to be sure she had enough booze on hand for today and tomorrow. We had to make several trips to different stores because she would bu stuff and then realize she *might* need more for tonight, tomorrow, etc. She's probably like us. We had to go to certain stores where she hadn't bought recently because she was worried about what the clerks would think.

Wow, I remember doing that, and I sure don't miss it! It was a little hard to go liquor shopping, but honestly, it was such a great reminder of how much that life (always having to think ahead and get more Al) SUCKS that it was worth it.

        No, no, no.

Hi there... I am so happy to see how well everyone is doing! Ava!! Congrats to you.
              9 months, whoopie!!

I have been a bit busy working and getting ready to start my art program for year number two.

Yes, it is soooo good to not be preoccupied with drinking all the time. OMG do I not miss that at all. I spoke with an old friend and sometimes drinking pal over the week-end. She is on the wagon now too, she does that from time to time, but made it clear this is a just a break from drinking. I told her I am not drinking anymore and then the conversation turned to our mothers. Ah, anyhow. It is all good. Hd and I getting on better now too. My working all last week helped a lot!

So, finally a bit of positive energy... let's spread it around!

Ta all for the congrats. I finally realise it is me doing this and i am doing it. I think i always had at the back of my mind that i would not be able to carry it through but surely at 9 months i need to accept that this is my life and only i am the one that can fail myself. Its been a great day to celebrate with you all.

Wags, i used to be that woman, i always had to remember which bottlo i had been to the day before and the day before that. i had 5 shops that i rotated around.

El i never had a break, god forbid i had a problem to have a break from it. ha ha.

I had a patient today who came in for botox and she lives interstate. She gave me a card thanking me for organising this treatment and when she had gone i opened it and just laughed. She had given me a gift card for an al store. How apt was that. I gave it to a work friend who knows i have given up drinking. 9 months ago i would have been so thankful and just knew i would be buying $10 bottles of wine instead of $2.50 bottles. A celebration yes indeedy! Now i could have kept it and bought fizzy drink or chips even but its a shop i dont want to venture into again. That was my past life.

Ginger 90 days, i loved 90 days for some reason, i thought it was more special than 100, though 100 was good. everyday is a great day sober.

Hugs girls and its great to be part of the team. xx

Congratulations to everyone on your milestones!
Well, if ever there was an example of what not to do then here I am. It is never just one drink, one night, only weekends! It is straight back to the same old crappy merry-go-round of trying to get off it again.
So back to reclaim my sobriety!
Sorry to all of you who supported me....I will get there

Hey Daisy welcome back girl. Its always that first drink, that is why i can never have that one. Being a fellow alky you cant either. Bugger and damn, but who wants to be a "normal" drinker anyways.

                        Morning Loamers,

Dottie, congratulations on one year! How flippin' fantabulous that is. I hope we get to hear a speech from you. I always look forward to those milestone speeches as they're always inspirational. Did you know you wanted to quit for good last September 1st?

Ava, congratulations on your solid 9 months. That's also a huge accomplishment. You've done this thing one day at a time, as you say with grit and determination. Another great inspiration and role model. Thank you.

Ginger, happy 120! That's four full months of feeling on top of the world. You've done it with much grace and through a major loss.:l

Being Labor Day today, we're going to a picnic at my husband's aunt's house. They have a pretty big house with a pool, so that's where the big parties are held. There'll be lots of great food as there are lots of great cooks in DH's family. Have a great day all.

                            Morning on this glorious Monday!

I am so grateful that it is a holiday today and I am going to totally enjoy the day. It is a beautiful sunny day here, I feel Great, NO hangover!!!

I had no cravings on the weekend which is great. Maybe the l Glutamine is helping or maybe it is just time being AF.
Daisy, it does get easier. Keep on trying, you can do it. Kick that AL brain down. Go to the tool box, that helps for sure.

J-Vo, I wish I could go to a pool party! It's beautiful here 70F/20C but a little cool for a pool party.

Ava, it's neat that you can see the change in yourself. Those patients obviously appreciate you. Next time maybe you will get some Darrell Lea liquorice next time and we can Share! Sorry you have to work today but I am sure you will have an Aussie holiday soon!

                              Hi, Everyone!

DOTTIE BELLE! One year is really and truly a milestone to be proud of. I know you've gone through some challenging times, but you have made it through without the crutch of alcohol. CONGRATULATIONS!

AVA! I wrote it elsewhere, but I couldn't have asked for a better quit partner. I love having someone go through the ups and downs with me, and I love your sense of humor and steadfast loyalty and support. CONGRATULATIONS on your 9 months - let the three day celebration begin!

GINGER! 120 days! You're quietly racking them up - four months is a third of a year. Keep up the great work, and don't forget to use us when you need us.

Daisy - Welcome back. What do you think will be different this time? How will your plan be expanded to make sure this is your last turn on that merry-go-round? Stay close and settle in tight.

LB - Happy for your AF vacation - so nice to truly relax and have fun.

J-Vo - Enjoy that BBQ. I hosted one last night - would love for someone to invite me over and cook for me!

Wags - I'm surprised your friend went through all that with you in the car. All of that was quiet strategizing for me - never out loud. And yes, I would say if your friend is worried about what the clerk will think, she IS one of us. I'm glad she has you as an example. My friend who came over last night has been overly "buzzed" the last three times I saw her. I hope she's ok, as she is one for denial and I do think she seems to be lacking a stop button as it were. I will be an example for her, but I don't know if her pride will allow her to ask me for help.

We have beautiful weather for this long weekend. A baseball game, a good, long hike, and today we're trying stand-up paddle boarding. I am so happy to be sober, hungover free, and clear headed to enjoy this time with my family and friends. No nagging in the back of my head that I shouldn't have had that much to drink last night.

Today is Labor Day in the US - we salute the workers and hope that we can figure out this income inequality that has led to the rich getting richer and the disappearance of the middle class. AND we get a day off work - hooray.

Hope all is well with the gloamers.

                              xo
