Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

    Morning ladies,
Off to the gym then tonight I signed up for a group running/jogging class. I will see how that goes.
Also signed myself up for a class at the local hospital on Friday morning and a dog training one on Saturday morning. Not sure what I was thinking but I will go to them both and then decide if it is too much to take on. They all seemed like a good idea way back when I signed up...sigh

Wow Dottie... busy little bumble bee you are!
I can hardly get myself out of the house these days, so many things to organize when you move.
We still have to get our kitchen in order, or rather, build one.
      Tricky cooking around here.
I am doing fine though... making sure I take that All-in-One vitamin powder, still pretty tired these days.

Pav- so happy for you reaching 9 months AF, that is really great. It is like finding the 'missing link' huh?!
I think so and I have only been sober 108 days, I wonder how I will be looking at things after 9 months?
The great thing about this site is we can see it really is possible, and you don't have to go back to drinking after taking a break. It isn't inevitable. We can also see there is no upside of making this kind of choice. We all just end up in the same pile of ruble if we let down our guard.
Onward and upward for us all folks!

Jane - First and foremost, congrats to you on your first sober summer. That's a great accomplishment on top of your huge number of days and the events you've survived without AL recently.

          :goodjob:

The party does sound like it was a bit uncomfortable, but I doubt it had anything to do with you, and I don't think you're being a stick in the mud. We all likely have memories of drinking as teenagers (or seeing friends who did). Alcohol compromises judgment enough all by itself - when combined with a not-fully-developed teenage brain, it invites devastating events. I know I for one feel extremely lucky that I eked through those years and loads of poor choices without any serious consequences. In hindsight, I shudder at what I/we did.

It sounds like you did a great job and things passed uneventfully.

            Evening Ladies,

It's been a super long day. Left house at 6:30 a.m. and didn't get home until after 9 p.m. We had open house for parents at our school and had three presentation times to do. Really tired and will catch up tomorrow. xxxooo

Made it to the beginner running thingy I signed up for. I was able to keep up and didn't get too darn hot. We meet once a week and I have a training schedule for the rest of the week. Goal to run a 5k in November. We shall see.
Tired so going to bed and hope all the exercise helps me sleep. zzzzzz

Thanks for the link Pav. I am starting to read books on that genre a lot. It helps me keep perspective.

                I am pooped. Goodnight everyone.

Pav I checked it out too.
Jane loved your post, glad you made it through that party. That would be really hard for me.
I tried to post last night, wasn't able to.
Sorry for the quick check in this morning. I've got to run.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

                    Hello Lovely Loamers,
Sorry I'm such a slacker this week-- just have full on with kids and work. Super single mom stuff.. Don't know how some do it all of the time.. I am in awe-- I haven't read back but will have a chance tomorrow evening.
I'm thinking of you all and sending love...

Hey, LC - good to hear from you! Glad you're doing fine.

Jane, your new avatar cracked me up! That is probably what I looked like in the yoga class I just returned from :H.

I'm not a physician but a couple things you wrote above stuck out to me -- CRP (C reactive protein) is a general test for inflammation, not necessarily for autoimmune disease. Something like ANA (antinuclear antibody) is a more common "generic" indicator of autoimmune disease. Even if it were measured and were high, it wouldn't necessarily tell you what you have but in any case, I don't see how your Dr. is reaching conclusions based on CRP. I hope you can unravel the mystery!

Narilly, you've gotta quit working so hard! It is nice to have a good night from you but -- what's up with you? Doing anything fun when you're not working?? You and J-vo are too busy!!

Dottie and SL both taking up running in your 50s ??? Good luck!

Where is Giraffe? Maybe at that wedding where she is gonna show off her New Boobs?

I saw Kailey posted in roll call so that's good news. What other Loamers have gone MIA? Hope they check in.

                      Have a good one, NS

I've been doing yoga 3x/week for a few months now and love it (now that I'm doing gentle, hatha yoga for old people ). When I've been traveling and can't attend, I've found Hatha yoga videos on this site to be great: Free Online Yoga Videos - Classes and Poses | DoYogaWithMe.com. So, you could explore it from the comfort of your own home .

Hey Jane - glad you are feeling good today!
NS- I didn't know that Hatha yoga is a bit easier on ze bod? They offer it at my gym too so maybe I will try it?
I am all busy making an ass of myself today. Seems my new part-time job.
Its okay, I am not drinking or thinking about drinking so am cutting myself some slack ( undeserved slack I might add!).
Art class starts next week. Something i am good at, unlike shopping!

Checking in loamers. I have a day off today and of course i woke early but thats ok. Having a cuppa and planning my day. Damn it is great to be sober.

Work has been busy and over the village idiots. My friend who has cancer is in hospital to get his pain under control so i will be spending a lot of time with him during lunch and hopefully they will operate to take out his bowle, bladder and prostrate soon. He has hope and so do it but very upsetting to see him in so much pain.

Shoulder still giving me pain. the physio strapped it the other day as one muscle is not talking to another one so my shoulder movement is not fluid. i must say my shoulder is sorer now strapped than when it wasnt. no pain no gain i suppose.

Walking up a storm now, really getting into the exercise. mmm never thought i would say that! Might check out that yoga NS but dont hold your breath. I did listen to the hypnosis one you posted as i woke up early one morning. Thought it was shite then woke up when my alarm went off. lol.

I am going for a sleepover at Kieras on Saturday night. We are going to bingo and out for dinner. I have not been to bingo since i was 12 so it should be fun. It will be lovely to spend time with my eldest. i dont see her enough now she is married and lives an hour away. She did mention i may need to wear a matching velour tracksuit.

Well i had better get the washing out and go for a walk. Be good everyone.

Well... breathing is one of the main points of yoga :H!

Yeah, I know you think all my meditation and hypnosis ideas are a bunch of mumbo-jumbo but I've been as surprised as anyone at how effective they can be. I wish I had been more open to these when I was trying to stop drinking - I think it would help enormously now that I see how useful it is for other things. I bet there are many people who use those techniques to get over addictions and never even become involved in real life or online Quit Drinking groups.

Sorry your shoulder is still bugging you. Is the strap to get those muscles together so they can work it out or what ?

Have a nice time this weekend with your daughter. Does she really think you've hit your Bingo-Years ? It should be fun anyway since you can chat and goof around and still play the game. And I bet you'll look just great in your velour pants suit - deep purple, I hope!

Glad your struggles aren't leading you astray, El! Even if you think it now and then, you don't have to do it. I've had a totally frustrating day on all levels and when I was in the grocery store, thought to myself that I really wish I was someone else, could buy a bottle of wine and go home and drink the whole dang thing with no witnesses. Well, I'm me, so I bought the stuff that was actually on my list and drove home... and that has to be the end of the story, right? Because WE DON'T DRINK!
