LB, good for you! For some reason, being a service for the unfortunates (man or beast) just seems the right thing to do. When I was drinking, I thought everyone owed me something, pay back time! But the past year has taught me, ask for nothing, but give everything in return... I have always been at service to others, for all the wrong reasons, but now, I want to repay the favors that I have been shown... a simple gesture but means so much to those in need, if not given in greed! So, be happy, be helpful, and above all, be grateful! And share some of that gratitude to those who are more unfortunate than us....Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Thank you everyone! I think my hubs might be experiencing some side effects from his new blood pressure med (unmotivated, negative, depressed, bitchy & a dry cough). :love:He doesn't seem to see it that way, but gawd has he been a drag, a bore, and a bitch. This on top of everything has made me feel a little depressed and anxious. Tomorrow I'm calling the doc and telling on him. Wish he could have just gone on the med I take (diovan hctz), but he tends to reject meds that I take I think because he thinks I'm more fucked up that he is. Tomorrow is a new day. Love to everyone. Thanks for tolerating my crama (crisis + drama). Skimmed through the Andre Agassi biography last night and it was booooooooring. Boy does he sound like a moody dude. Somebody mentioned Billy Joel's biography being worth reading. Maybe I'll go for that next. Not sure if I got around to mentioning that I also read Brooke Shields new book, 'there was a little girl', I liked it a lot.AF since January 7, 2014 *Never, never, never give up. ~ Winston Churchill*

Nar, was thinking the same about Rooni, last post 11/25/14 last seen 11/28/14, but I did send her a 1 month congrats message...Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Hi, All:
Glad you heard from J-Vo, SL. Glad she's ok.
Jane - Just the process of writing a post like that can be cathartic. I hope it helped. Sometimes we want sympathy and get advice, and sometimes we want advice and get sympathy. I guess here you get both. I quit my BP medicine since I quit AL (whoot!) but I had a very bad reaction to one I was taking a while ago. Was coughing so much I was throwing up every morning. My doc didn't catch it - I had to look on the Internet! Also, I know you know I have to say this, exercise helps me so much when my mind is all over the place like that. I recommend a walk with a good podcast - takes you right out of your head. Have you tried Serial? Soooo good. Also, Slate Culture Gabfest. There are so many great ones.
If you're into biographies, I highly recommend An Unfinished Woman by Lilian Hellman. I haven't read it in a while, and given her relationship with Dashiell Hammett it might be a bit boozy, but very well written.
Party dress ironed and ready to go. I'll check in tomorrow.
xo

just a quick check in to say i will read back later. I went on a date tonight and asked what i wanted and said lemon, lime and bitters. He didnt ask "not a wine", he just said you dont drink then and i told him the truth. He asked so many questions about why, how, mwo and was very very kind and understanding. Everyone where we were at had a drink, i was the ONLY one with non al. Amazing! Then i had to tell him to hang on at dinner as i had to start a thread and wish my quit buddy a happy year and on the bloody iphone. But at the end of the day Pav you are worth way more than any date. You have been with me from the beginning and will be around for a lot longer than any man will be. You are probably lucky it was on the iphone as it was a lot shorter than intended. I truly so grateful to be on this journey with you and i wish i felt like you do today again. Its totally farking amazing to reach one year and we have so many more celebrations ahead of us with Gloamers.
Im off to sleep and i cant wait to wake up and read what everyone has to say about you as you are goddamn amazing Pav.
Night from me xxxxxAF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

Ava, that cracks me up. You on the iphone in the middle of a date. What a gal!
It is a great day for all of us, Pav hitting 365. Oh yeah! Way to go you two. I have to wait until April for mine. I clearly remember quitting last year Nov 12 and then drinking on Christmas Day and what for? I guess I was not truly ready to quit forever. This time I am. There will be no more Day 1's for me.
Have a great Sober Tuesday everyone!Narilly
