      Yum fried chicken.
I cleaned 7 bathrooms today. 4 houses. I am tired. Don't stress if I don't post much this week. I am slammed and Saturday is our big parade day. So busy week for me. BUT it isn't nearly as bad as hung over trying to juggle all of this stuff and being sick.
      Where's Ava?

          Hello all,
No gym today/yesterday??? Trainer was sick so we visited dad and went to Costco and the Vitamin shoppe. Sorry he was sick but that enabled me to get my errands run. Tomorrow is a mess too...meeting at church, dance lesson then evening meeting at church....OH my gosh what did I commit to????

              hi gloamers
just a quick checkin to say i am fine and dandy, been busy with work, trying to figure out how i can leave and do a course and live on fresh air. surely it cant be that hard???? I have finally decided that after being stressed out to the max at work that i cant change the idiots i work with so i may as well find some new ones or maybe some people that treat you with respect and have no favourites. I am also over the two hour travelling i do a day. money does not buy happiness and i am getting to old for this shit.

Dogs are both well, liam has broken his hand, he says he cant do anything now for at least three years, like the floors or hang the washing. so he says anyways!

Too warm to do much here, i am starting to look forward to winter which i know i will regret in a few months.

Glad everyone is doing so well.

              xx

                        GMAE Gloamers,

While we were away a toilet supply line broke and flooded the house. That's 3 floods in 2 years! Just 2 weeks ago I had moved everything out of my storage unit into the basement (contents of my house after I sold it when we got married). Insurance is covering it, but it has been stressful. I've worked hard and spent a lot of $ trying to avoid this kind of thing from happening again. Apparently the root cause of the issue is "shit happens". And it does. I'm getting through it. A friend posted this article on FB. ( Not Drinking -- The Superpower). I enjoyed it and thought you guys might too. Wishing everyone love, strength and inner calm. I could use a little help with #3. xoxoxox
Most people who drink think that people who don't drink are, at best, missing something and, at worst, are living in what they imagine to be a depressed state of sobriety. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Hey Jane, that was a great article. "Don't just survive addiction. Thrive in recovery." I love that phrase and also the part of Not drinking gives us a 'Super Power'
We all have to use our Super Powers of Not drinking and thrive in recovery. Oh yeah, lets do it Gloamers!

Ava, very nice to hear from you. Sorry about your crappy job, that made me laugh about Liam's broken hand. 3 years of not being able to help around the house sounds about right.

Have a great day Gloamers. Enjoy your Super Powers.

Wow, Jane! Powerful article. Thank you so much for posting the link! Anyone else think this might make a good addition to the Toolbox? I'm going to copy a few paragraphs below to share.

"This is the great challenge for anyone who gets sober. One must build a new way of being seemingly from scratch without knowing in advance what this is going to look like and how it is going to feel. To get clean and sober is to build a new identity, one much more rooted in truth and presence than illusion and avoidance. At first it is challenging, but ultimately it is immensely rewarding. And I believe this would be the case for nearly anyone, not just alcoholics and addicts who have to give it up.

If you are like me and had to get sober, you may come to know that "in between" phase. It might just suck for a while as you develop a new life for yourself. Hang in there and allow yourself to develop. It takes time and therefore patience. It takes action and vigilance. It takes support and love.

While there are those people who unfortunately get stuck in recovery and do not grow beyond their misery, this is neither the norm, nor necessary. Do not fall prey to the mistaken idea that people in recovery and others who simply decide not to drink are miserable and longing to drink again.

The emphasis has to be on well-being. My recovery mantra is: "Don't just survive addiction. Thrive in recovery." I believe people in recovery must work toward the great shift from staying sober out of fear and necessity to staying sober out of love for the life they get to live as the result of staying sober. Once a person has made this shift, it is very likely they will excel in life."

Those selections would be useful additions to the Newbies Nest right about now, Pie. And the toolbox!

Thanks for the link, Jane - it's good to see you. I'm sorry about your flood. I hope you're able to save cherished belongings and just let the things that were nothing but possessions go. My in-laws had a flood that they later viewed as a liberating blessing. I hope that becomes your experience, too, after the mess has been cleared.
