I am home, i am very tired and i want to sleep.
Bad trip Jane, very bad as mum got sick one hour out of Bangkok but we are home safe and sound now and she has been to the drs and on some drugs. Its funny but i realised when she was so ill up in the air that she is 78 and she is actually getting old. Did have a great holiday though!

Thanks Satz, i didnt think so either until she became unconscious. So scary and thats when i realised that as much as she so wants to do what she used to we just cant when we are on holidays anymore. Time for us to slow down on the shopping, bugger it! There is no place like home though.AF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

welcome back home Ava. Very sorry to hear about your Mum. Bangkok plus shopping is exhausting for anyone but your Mum is not as young as she was. I am sure there will be lots to do together for many years ahead - maybe just a change of scene and pace. Anyway you rest after your long and what must have been a very worrying trip home. Glad your Mum has been seen by the Drs.

Hi Gloamers:
I agree that 78 plus shopping four days in Bangkok is quite impressive. I'm glad your mom is ok - you are right that it will be a funny story one day...
I am up at 6:30 to take my son to an academic competition/festival of sorts all day. I have a bad cough/cold which I haven't had in a long time, so I am bummed I don't feel better. But we'll have fun for sure.
Hope you all have fabulous, UNHUNG Saturdays!

Ava, I'm so glad your mom is ok. Imagine if you'd been "3 sheets to the wind" (whatever that means besides drunk...) when all of that happened! So good you were truly there for her.
Hope the academic competition goes well, Pav. Just like Ava, you get to truly Be There for your family now.
Hi, Satz and TT - hope your Saturday's were good ones! I'm going to spend mine killling weeds (non-toxically) and digging in dirt .

Ava, Unconscious on the plane ? You must have been scared shitless. Did they go over the loud speaker and ask if there was a doctor on the plane? Glad to hear shes been to the doc & gotten meds. Unconscious on the plane.
Pav, Hope you have fun at the competition. I'm a baby about colds. The term makes it sounds like such a nothing for something that's so uncomfortable.
NS, Happy weeding! I think I may do the same. Last week I pruned the rhododendrons. I have to be really careful with pruning because OCD almost always kicks in and I have trouble stopping. I also took 3 hibiscus trees down to nothing. When I see leaves that show sign of disease or fungus, I'm off to the races with the shears. I trying to organize my notes into a gardening journal. We have 2 azaleas in front that are 4 years old and hanging on for their lives. We have 2 in back that were tree sized in 2007. We cut them back to stumps (it was a jungle back there). They have grown back so strong and hardy. I was reading about how to grow new ones using cuttings from existing ones. I have also been looking into day lillies. We have a few yelllow ones and they re-bloom right through the end of September. I'm hoping to find some red ones. I have never ordered from one of the online places. I think I may give it a try. Also trying to learn about propogating and what's best for each plant. Oh....last night I read that garlic water is a very effective insecticide! Easy peasy!
Wishing everyone a super day! xo
Below is a pic of my "lilly garden". I planted a few different types in 2013 (the yellow are the re-bloomers). It blows my mind that all I did was dig some holes ONE time and they come back year after year (I hope anyway! They did last year!)
I snipped a few before a BBQ we had...

I carried my pots up from the shed. Now next week I will go buy my veggie plants. I have some seeds from last year I will plant and see if they come up. They were free so nothing lost if they dont. Strange doing all this alone but I feel like I need to do this for me. I love the veggies and maybe it will bring me hope. I will hit the garden center during the week when it isnt so crowded. I am not a fan of standing in line.
Sun is out and it is getting warm. Broke a sweat carrying the pots up...wont complain....well maybe just a little...
