    Hi,

Wow, LB, that is sad. I am losing a parent slowly to dementia. It has been very slowly, but sort of notched up lately. It is hard, for sure.

Hi, Steady and SFx. Drop by any time.

I am barely keeping my eyes open tonight.

Hi there. Not a lot to report here. It is Saturday night. It must be really hard knowing someone with dementia - especially a loved one.
Sorry you have problems with the daughter LB. It never ends does it?
Here is an article that appeared today in one of our newspapers - its on a woman's sobriety after one year.

No drinking dreams lately for me - but I used to have them.
You all have a good weekend!

          Good morning everyone.
Thanks for the article TT. I haven't had drinking dreams lately either. Thank goodness.

Pav, sorry about your parent. That sucks. My mom is really forgetful sometimes but I don't think it's dementia, we will see.

LilB, that's sucks about the lady you knew with dementia. Sometimes families just don't get it.
I tried to g on last night but I couldn't get on so here I am this am. Glad to be Un Hung. I spent So many Saturday's hungover and am so grateful not to be. Thank goodness I was able to get sober. Thank you Gloamers for helping me.
          I don't drink!!

That was a good article, TT - thank you. The author made amazing progress in one year. Her comments about our alcophilic society were interesting and, I think, very true.

Today was was yet another day that I was so glad to be done with this business. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but, really, it is never too soon to quit. But, things can change so quickly, making it too late. I'm glad we've all stopped and I hope anyone reading who hasn't jumps in now and joins us. xx, NS

Thanks for the link TT. These bits resonated with me, this about drinking, " Certainly not the next morning, brain short-circuited, life curtailed. Not generally, what with my existence fixed in one small, staggering circle, in which nothing was ever confronted, or changed."

And this about getting sober, "Everything was uncharted territory: how to socialise, relax, dine, be around family, have sex, and endure Downton Abbey sober."

Going to have to look up "alcophilia" though.

                Great article TT.
Sorry for the absence of the past couple of days. Massive headaches again. I've stopped taking all vitamin supplaments and my Elavil. I may not sleep as well, but I think that something I'm taking is causing them. It's already starting to feel better.
Yes I'm going to check with my doctor, but I needed immediate relief.

                  Hi, LB

I hope you figure out what the source of the headaches is! I was on a drug about a month ago that gave me splitting headaches in the front and did weird things to my eyes - it felt like they were darting around even when my eyes were closed. The "cure" was worse than my original problem. Hope you continue to feel better!!

Hey, Pie. Was today a better day? I'm sorry you had a rough evening (and have an ongoing problem with your dad) but so happy you made it through and were able to use all you've learned and this site to stay the course. Imagine how awful you would be feeling today if you'd decided to drink last night! It just isn't worth it. You should be feeling good about yourself today .

All the GLoamers must be having busy/full weekends. Have fun and take care of yourselves out there, NS

TT, that was a great article. Thank you. I could really relate to a lot of what she said. I am so grateful to be sober.

Hi Pie! Nice to see you.

Hey Gloamers, I am going to sleep now. Looking forward to an Un Hung week. Tomorrow is Election Day in Canada and it is really exciting. I will be glued to the tv after work.

                    Goodnight, stay sober.

Hi all - here I am - again - posting after missing for a while. I hope you all are not worried about me when I am not posting? I hope not
So today is a milestone for me - 2 years. I am very thankful to this group (and hot yoga) for this success so far in my AF life. I keep repeating my mantra - I can't drink a little, therefore I am not drinking at all. And I am at peace with that. :yay:

Way to go My Luck, 2 years is great!!

We are having an election for a new Prime Minister in Canada so it's a pretty exciting night plus the Blue Jays are playing baseball. I am not drinking which makes this night even more enjoyable. I will not be one of the people waking up with a hangover tomorrow.
                        That makes me happy

It's great to hear from you, MyLuck! Getting to 2 years took more than luck, though. You've really made it happen. Congratulations!

Toronto is amazing tonight, Nar. Glad you're able to enjoy it fully. How's the election going?

Hi, Pie2 - nice to meet you!

                              Happy election night Narilly.
Congratulations on 2 wonderful, sober years Myluck. I know if you have problems this is the first place you will come , so no I am not worried about you. I just enjoy when you do post.
NS the headaches are subsiding. I think I just overloaded on too many supplements. I got stressed and run down, so I looked for an easy fix. Shame on me! I KNOW better. So here I am detoxing from too many vitamins. Yuck!

Glad you're feeling better LB! Unfortunately the supplement industry isn't well regulated - they're not all exactly what the label says. It seems strange that there isn't more oversight.
