Humble, Way to go Girl!! 90 Days!! Yahooooo! That's what we say here in Cowtown.

Ava, I am glad you love waking up to us in the morning. The reason I look so good is because I AM AL Free!!!
Yes, it was very hard to forgive. At first I did it because of the kids and then I learned to love him again. We had some bad fights though, especially when I/we drank. Its a miracle we stayed together. All these years our biggest fights were when we were hammered. How stupid eh? He drinks way less now that I have quit. It is really good for him too.
I had to forgive him. Relationships are hard and there are two people involved so I have to take some responsibilty for what happened. That was tough to do for me. I wanted to blame it ALL on him. It is easier that way.
Anyway, I think our relationship will be way better as time goes on just because we are not drinking. He drinks a lot less and me NONE!!

Love y'all,
Narilly

Oh god Nar the fights i had due to al with my ex were blah, so many hurtful things said and yes you are so right forgiveness is the key and you are a good woman and a strong one. I would have liked to have killed him also and i bet your tongue was pretty vicious at the time. Glad you are both so in love, i would like that and one day maybe. I stayed with my ex for years due to the kids and he said he would change but he never did. Mind you when i had had enough and told him i was leaving the first thing he said was "i will change". FFS he had ten years to do that and i knew he would change for a short period of time and go back to what he was. Life is not easier being single but it is a hell of a lot better for me. How long have you been married for? Life is so much better al. god if i was hungover today there is no way i would be going out, every excuse under the sun not to go but now i am looking forward to it and Mia, my daughter is now hassling me to see if i am ready. Of course i am not, too busy on here.

This is more like me when I wake up. I still can't figure out how to get the photos to show up, but here is the link. Can someone message me with how to do that? The normal way I'm used to just doesn't work at this forum.

Congratulations on your 90 days, HR!
I thought it was tomorrow so I would have been a day late!!!

My celebratory gift for you is the instructions for posting images from a website :

What you do is type:
paste the photo's url here BUT you must remove the space I left here before the ]
each time. (I had to leave it in so the system would not think the image was there.) If you look at what I typed by selecting the Quote button in the lower right (as if you wanted my text to show in your reply) you will see what I typed to make your pup show up here.

That is one relaxed pup! I'd say a nap with him would be a great way to celebrate day 90!

Haha! Ava, cross post!
Life is so much better al.
That is what you said above, ...better be careful about what you are thinking! That made me smile.

We have been married for 23 years. I think it gets a lot harder after about 16 years. I would like to trade him in sometimes but I really do love him and it would cost too much money! He is a great dad, a ton of fun, just like a kid especially when he gets around water. That is what is going to happen in Florida which will make our trip even more fun.

I love your Daughter's name. Mia, how sweet.

Star, I just really looked at your picture, I LOVE that! We had a Goofy Golden retriever who used to go crazy in the ocean. That picture reminds me of him.

SL, hope you are feeling better. I am thinking of you, I know it is a struggle.

I'm going for supper tonight and I am not going to drink. I may go to Costco now cause I am outta here! (work)
I was thinking, in Canada we don't have booze in the grocery store. I am really glad we don't. I think all of you have it in your grocery right? It should not be there it makes it way to easy to buy, especially for chicks like us!

Talk to you later,

Checking in at the end of day 4.....tired after a tough workout at the gym and a busy day. My niece is 16 tomorrow and I am making her a birthday card. Inspiration goes out the window when alcohol takes over so getting great satisfaction from simple pleasures...

Star,

I would not consider carbs in non-starchy vegetables as counting for anything. (I never ate a plate of brussels sprouts or broccoli that screwed up my blood sugar or made me crave wine :H:H:H!) I personally eat tons of vegetables and love them. I think those low carb diets that don't let you eat veggies are pushing it too far and aren't based on science - plus, the fiber and phytochemicals in vegetables are good for you. Eat up !

Ow Pauly - I so get that - I look at the daily log in from time to time and see folks who I was winning with - and here I am back down at the bottom again! Elvis is nearing 80, and he was my last "partner"
Well done HR - keep at it!!!
Nar - wine is everywhere - groceries stroes, gas stations (), nail salons, big stores - there are very few stores that don't sell AL around here - it stinks!
Ava - thanks for yoru words, I am very worried about not being divorced, that means we are the legal next of kin and all that that brings - I need to know he can't have access to any money I manage to save for retirement and that I am not on the hook for his medical bills, legal bills etc - I would look into ensuring that you are safe and protected my dear..
Witching hour here, so doing a check in to stay in check!
Again, but I feel that I can't say it enough - thank you for all the support, it is pretty overwhelming....

Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

Hi all,
Well, here's a short 90-day speech. The time has flown by and yet it seems so long ago that I was a drunkard. I'd tried many times in the 35+ years of my drinking career to be rid of the shackles of alcohol. Unbearable became the pain associated with what I thought was pleasure but only brought me to my knees in more ways than one. I have said this before, but I was blessed this time around with the strong desire to avoid alcohol, and I made sure I never wavered. To be here now, sober, took some concentrated effort in the sense that I needed to learn how to fill my life with 'normal' activities, something I hadn't had practice with since I was a youth. So I made myself commit to doing 3 things a day: a check in here, a random act of kindness, and a photo a day on blipfoto. I find that I have time to spare after work, which is filled with hobbies and activities that I've yearned to do for years in my inebriated fog. Now I'm actually living. Thank you all for being here when I've needed the kind of friends I don't have in my life, the kind I've never had really, but should have all these years, the kind that I can expose my faults to and not be beaten down as a result, but instead supported as we all work together to make changes and enhance our lives. I am so happy to know all of you loamers. Thank you. xo
Every AF day is a milestone.

Humble, that is amazing. Thank you for the great post. How cool is that? Doing things you have wanted to do for so long. Alcohol really is a 'buzz kill' after awhile isn't it? Life is so much better without it.

I like the way you've approached your quit by doing 3 things everyday. That is an effective approach to staying AL free for sure. Thank you for that idea. I remember you posting about it before. It's very helpful.

Congrats again Miss Humble! Xo

MAE,

Just returned home after 15+ hours at work - phew!

Humble - Amazing on your 90 days. Your speech was lovely. Now you've gone a quarter of a year without drinking - remarkable. I like your three things a day, too. Thanks for being here with us!

Ava and Nar - I am in for Thailand!! I have been saving cash in a drawer for a trip to Thailand for the family for a year - it goes VERY slowly. I have enough for me - maybe I'll ditch the family and come myself!

NS - I want a personal cook - I get lazy even though I love veggies. My goal for next week - fewer carbs, more veggies... Do you ever eat ice cream? I think I might have a harder time giving up ice cream than alcohol.

Star - Love the avatar.

Ava - you forgot ME in your big post, but I forgive you. I know you love me. I have a fear of forgetting people, which I'm sure I do - but I love you all - just have a small computer screen and a lack of patience sometimes.

Pauly and SL - I think I'd be at 90 with Humble if I didn't take a diversion in November. -

Dottie - All of our grocery stores have beer, liquor and wine... Ugh.

I'm off to dreamland - have fabulous weekends. Do we all have plans to stay AF this weekend?? I do - food, exercise, fun!

Ta.
