I am tired and frustrated. I am also concerned about dh's memory or lack there of lately...he is either not paying attention or he is getting a memory illness too...I just wanted to scream today..and I know the AF path is the best but sometimes I just want to say the hell with it so i dont have to deal with him or dad...dam....but I am AF for tonight.

Dottie, I have the same problem with my DH. He even went and got tested for Alzheimer's and dementia but they didn't find anything wrong. He is so forgetful, it drives me crazy!
What can you do, can't live with em, can't live without em!

I'm not feeling too well tonight, have some sort of throat thing going on and a bit of a fever. This is good because my friend is staying here for a few days and she Is a WINE distributor! Omg, she always tskes me out for supper and wine plus leaves a bunch of bottles for me. I won't be drinking with her for sure because I don't drink!

A very quick stop in today because I have been late at work again (and will have to do the work party tomorrow night as well - ugh). Dottie - you are a very strong woman to be doing what you do - I admire you greatly.

I am pasting what I said in the nest so I don't have to re-type:

Today I heard about a new movie called The Anonymous People about people living in recovery in too much shame to speak out, and about a cause to bring them out to the public. Here is the trailer (bring your tissue). That led me to Kristen Johnston's new book Guts, about her drug and alcohol addictions.

I have neither seen the movie, nor read the book, but this quote from Kristen said a lot to me: "I’m the strongest person I’ve ever met; I can will things with my mind, or at least I thought so, and so the fact that I couldn’t navigate this on my own was shocking to me. I’d done everything myself. So I started to believe I could actually control things and the bottom line is I can’t." Judging from the posts here, I think a lot of us are control freaks, and this lack of control drives us mad. We think we SHOULD be able to control this, so we make one more try...

Anyway - a lot of rambling on my way to bed. I hope everyone is safe, cozy and sober. Almost Friday, peeps. Let's start dusting off our weekend plans. Adios, Day 11.

Well a quiet night at home, i was soooo tired but am now wide away but it is Saturday tomorrow so I can sleep in, yeah!
Jvo where do you download your books from. I looked at itunes and they cost a fortune.
I changed my avatar today and hopefully it will work. Technology gets to me sometimes!
I hope everyone is coping with the silly season. I will be glad when it is over but thank god i only have one work xmas lunch to go to and that will be easy not to drink. I used to get a wine and just look at it and think god i want more but of course one has to behave. So easy to stop on the way home and get a couple of bottle and hide myself away and get blind.
Take care all and cant wait to wake up to all the interesting posts.

Hi Pav, J-lo, Narilly, Ava, NS and anyone I have missed..
Well it's Friday, yay!! Finished work and have 3 weeks off..Had my second small test today, we finished at 12.00 so went to a lovely new bar/hotel on the waterfront right on the South China Sea. I was only there for 2 hours but had one soda and lime and then had a macciato. It wasn't too difficult because it was the middle of the day. It's the second time this week I have been around other people drinking ( although very moderate drinking), but I guess I'm practising for next week when I am home.
Available is that you and your daughter?? You are both gorgeous.. love her short 50's fringe ( or it that you?)

Pat, 3 weeks woo hoo, lucky you. I have about ten days off as of next friday till the 2/1 so that will be nice. That is my daughter who got married and my other daughter who was bridesmaid. I just cant believe that it downloaded as i have tried it so many times before. Good on you for not drinking. I find that i am bored now at night since i am not drinking. Nothing on tv and used up my downloads lol. Got a bit fanatical about that last week, bit like posting on here. ha ha. Wow you must think i am young if you thought it was me so a big thanks for the compliment.

Quite frankly, I'm bored shitless too.. I've got lots to do but really not up to chores/packing tonight.. lots of time tomorrow to do that. I have had so much sparkling water n grapefruit I feel gross, not to mention the fags that are just never ending tonight.... just seem to always need to have something in my hands .
Yep tonight is difficult for me.. nothing I would love more than... I know i will be glad in the morning I didn't but..grrr

The good thing is we are not as hungover as shit in the morning so your packing will get done, a positive.

Yes i have had a bit of a smoke a thon tonight too but not giving them up yet. maybe after 30 days of being af.
I hate grapefruit blah. I was over iced tea as found a fly in the bottle i had, they have lids for a reason! i bought lemon lime and bitters and a fizzy blood orange drink. The excitements not there i am telling you Pat. I miss that glass just not what was in it i think. I'm just resigned to not drinking, not happy about it at all but resigned if that makes sense.
Im watching Dexter series 1 and i think they are now up to series 8 but may download Sons of Anarchy soon.
You have to post 53 more times to be a senior member, get too it before Sunday!

Makes perfect sense and i think I am at the same stage.. I'm resigned to it also, i'm trying to feel gratitude but it's not working tonight. I won't drink tonight I know that but I feel a bit cheated as I've just started my hols and feel really wound up..I'm doing the deep breathing etc but lungs don't breathe too well with me smoking so much.. I'm not giving up just yet though!!
Anyway we just have to push through these dull moments.. I used to smoke a bit of something else but because I was such a glutton with that too.. had to knock that on the head as well!!
Oh well, might cook up some healthy food and knock the sparkling water on the head and just go plain..I'll be looking forward to a milo later!!!
