Ladies on a Mission: The Official Site

    Hi Loamers!
Didn't drink today and want to buy the book by Allen Carr that Eloise mentioned. The reviews are fantastic! El, I like that you told me not to think about AL. I have been doing that, it helps. I really want to get the book because I would like to learn more about what he has to say about AL and how to deal with cravings etc.
I Will Survive! That's a great theme song. "Just turn around now, your not welcome anymore" lol!

Humble, Av, I did laundry today and have been cleaning a bit. Can you come over to help with my closets?

I played squash and did yoga with hubby today. It was too much fun. We had a big dessert after, ice cream with brownies. YUM! -18c today but we still walked a lot. Tomorrow I sm going to cook granola chili, chicken stew and go for a big walk even though it's going to be -27. That's life here right now, it's a challenge!
Cooking and exercising are things I do to keep busy and stop from being bored. J-Vo explained this well and I think we all know what it means. AL made everything better (so I thought). If I watched TV, went for dinner, watched fireworks of whatever, a drink made it fun. Now if I am sitting watching TV, I 'miss' that buzz and call it boredom I guess. It is all about being present and really living my life. Not going through it in a haze.
NS, Humble, Lido Shuffle...Boz rocked! I had the 45

Well it's bed time here. Thanks for the great posts!

Just a quick check in, i am going to try and go to sleep by 10.30 so i am alive at 5.30am when my alarm goes off. This is going to be hard work getting my body clock back into work mode.

SL i hope you dont get sick, winter is a horrible time of year to catch everything plus more. I had a chest infection last year that nearly turned to pneumonia, had two weeks off work but still drank though had a few af days as too sick. I could have drank through a nuclear explosion if necessary! Clean sheets are the bomb arent they? my shitzu jumped on the bed before and i am sure she bought in half the dirt from the backyard and i put clean sheets on yesterday.

FFS is "fer farks sakes". I like abbreviations its called the modern age apparently! I just downloaded When a Man Loves a Woman and My Name is Joe (recommended on a thread) so will let you know what it is like. I just thought the first movie was a love story so will be interesting to watch it sober and get the story line.

NAR i have Alan Carrs smoking book, still up to page 10, i'm a slow reader as that has taken me 6 years to get that far. I need to dig it out. I will be there to help with your closets if i can have what i want. God you are wearing me out reading about your exercising. I am so lazy but i am still being gentle to myself, the gym down the road is 24 hours and has no joining fee so may look into that one.

Time seems to be standing still atm. When i hit 30 days it was like wow and now it seems the days to 40 are dragging but each and every day af is wonderful.

Another headache has hit me, i have lost count of the headaches i have had since i quit drinking and though they arent as often they are driving me batty. It makes me appreciate not drinking though and hangovers.

Ok i am starting to waffle on again, have a lovely day girls and stay warm!

          Hi all.

That book by Allen Carr must really be something. I ordered it online in Oct/ Nov together with It's So Easy & Other Lies. The Allen Carr book never arrived, yet I stopped drinking anyway. :-)

Jokes aside, it's you at MWO whose encouragement and support have seen me through. I'm still hoping the book will arrive; as it's not available at any of the bookshop outlets. Many copies of the smoking one, but not the alky one.

Tomorrow I'm gratefully celebrating 70 days. Thank you all.

Giraffe, wow, it must be a good book! Haha! That made me laugh

            Good morning everyone!

I love waking up with no hangover. Yes!!!
            I will survive

-25c today. My hubby and son went snowboarding this am. They left at 6am to get to the ski hill at 9am. It's freakin -31 where they went! I am lying here in my bed still, just like that pic. SL posted at the beginning of this thread.

Ava, glad you are having a great start to your day. You know, I had a headache for about 2 weeks, maybe from going AF? I didn't think I drank THAT much but now my headache is gone! I feel good/great actually.
I love to exercise so it is not a chore for me. I think it is tough if you don't like exercising. I am going for a walk now and yin yoga at noon. So many times I have gone to yoga hungover. No thanks!

Have a great day girls. I'll be back!

Avail, Nar - are you drinking enough?

Water, juice, tea, other fluids - you know what I mean!

I had ongoing low-grade headaches for quite a while. Water seemed to help for that.

I had the Lido Shuffle 45, too!

Trying to wake up and get going with my day, but I am having a hard time motivating. My son has a basketball game later and I will be going for a hike as well. Then prep for back to work back to school tomorrow. I will probably have a lot less time to post, so maybe I'll compose a masterpiece for later (I know you're on the edge of your seats).

Giraffe - glad that book is working (made me laugh). I tried looking for the Alan Carr book in the library but it wasn't there. What is it called exactly? 70 days is amazing.

OK - going to ease into my day. Have a great one all, and I'll be back later.

Morning all - sun shining but chilly - well, chilly for California!
Wondering what cleaning to do today, certainly have the bug!
Have the coughing bug too - and it hurts!
I have headaches too - I am drinking well - I think it is part of the process.
First load of bedding in washer - sadly not mine, but maybe I will get all three beds done, so much easier in summer with less bedclothes.
Nar - was not "my" photo - maybe j-vo?? I would have a photo of a bear coming out of hibernation:H:H I also love Sunday mornings feeling good - even Monday mornings are tolerable!
Hi Pav, DTD, Giraffe and Av!

                    MAE Ladies,

It's Sunday afternoon, football on telly (I'm sounding English!) though I don't watch, it's kind of a nice, warm, familiar feeling to have it on.

I'm starting my next leg of health improvement...tomorrow. I've ordered "shakeology" through my former Superintendent who is retired now and is a Beachbody Consultant. I received it in the mail yesterday. It has loads of nutrients and vits and you blend it with other fruits and ingredients. So last week bought a new blender! Shakeology is a meal replacement, so I"ll drink it in a.m. on way to work. I'm also in a challenge group on FB to stay accountable as far as exercising and just talk about how we're feeling with the shakes, diet goals and such. I'm ready for this!!!

Nar, I love how you and DH have found healthy activities to do together. That's awesome.

I'm going to buy a bike this spring, as my sister, husband, and a few gf's have one. They find different trails to bike and that's another thing I think will be a great new experience. It's beautiful where I live and I want to start seeing more of it.

Have a great day Lovely Loamers.

OMG i hate my alarm, for two weeks i find it hard to sleep and today I didnt want to wake up, then i hear on the tv that the traffic is going to be horrendous as they are fixing a major road. oh well a coffee for the drive i think.

Giraffe congrats on 70 days girl and so glad that book has been a help in you giving up ha ha. Maybe he has a book on "how to come back to life after holding your breath waiting for my book".

Nar i will get back into exercise as i used to love it when i lost 20kgs plus way back when and love walking my dogs, im just lazy after work. did start walking at lunch time so will give that a try. Think i am drinking enough but maybe not water, i will give it a shot.

Dream hello lovey and how are you? Another nice day in paradise?

Pav i want to read that masterpiece at lunchtime please so get cracking. I am actually going for a coffee with a guy, dont really want to go but have put him off enough lol. oh well free coffee is always good.

SL I am sure the headaches have a lot to do with not drinking and i thought i was hydrated enough as i am forever going to the loo. Sometimes i think it was much easier being dehydrated for 3/4 of the day lol. Put the jug on, oops have to go to loo, put washing on, oops have to go to loo. Damn that running water. Today SL there is nothing good about Monday, believe me!

Jvo beachbody consultant i dont think we have them over here! Maybe i could start the trend. I wanted a bike but the kids refuse to get me one, they say it will be like my ab circle pro, gather dust. I try and tell them different but i suppose they no me too well.

Well 2nd cup of tea time and enjoy your sunday, me i am sitting here trying to figure out how to retire.

                          Hugs to all. xx

Ava, good luck at work today! I know it's hard getting back into the routine. My anxiety before it happens is always much worse than actually doing it. So :l This will be a great day for you! Remember when you had to go back after 2 weeks of poisoning your body? Wow, you're going back with a clear head, fully rested, and a the cleanest house in Aussie Land!!!

Pavati, the book is called Easy Way to Control Alcohol (yeah right :-)). I read about it on MWO and apparently it is very good. Perhaps its available as an e-book?
Tomorrow its back to work for me; i started with Urbanol on Fri already to help me cope. I know it sounds weak and pathetic but at this stage its what i need to do.

I liked Jason Vales and Allan Carr's books. They were very similar, no nonsense, and really, if you feel that you're stuck in the deprivation mode, these two books will help you to crawl out of that hole and get you to the other side.
