And more cake and dancing! Patrice, happy 60 days!!!! So happy for you!:band2::disco::dancin:

I missed your 7 days, Star! You're getting there, one day at a time. Hang in there...work will get better, and just like we don't drink at people, we can't drink at things that happen at work. Both a bit tricky, but it's possible.:goodjob::armsaround:

60 days for Pat, 90+ for Roxy - what a great day around here!

It's so good to hear that you're doing well, Humble, and not at all interested in drinking. With all we know now, why would we be?

I just drove a van load of people home from a party in one of the most torrential downpours I've ever been in - the kind where you're scared to go forward but more scared that you'll be hit from behind if you pull over. 45 minutes of tension, horrid visibility, crashing thunder, and the pounding of the rain on the roof. My brain was in overdrive but one weird, very calm part of it was thinking about how excellent it was that I'd had nothing to drink at the party and that I wasn't going to crash into a bottle of wine when the storm nightmare was over. (Instead I crashed into bed with my iPad and am taking a rest before dinner).

Giraffe, I thought maybe you were on your big trip - I think to Germany? I'm sorry your absence was due to surgery. I hope everything went well.

El, once you truly decide you simply don't drink alcohol, all situations become easier. There isn't too much to think about other than what to have instead. But until that has become your default setting (which as Pat noted, these things take time), it is great to think about it and have your plans in place before you go. But don't worry - it won't always feel like the stress and hassle that it does now.

Ava, enjoy your vacation! Let us know when we should start making plans for your engagement party .

LC, Star, Pat - Thanks so much for your support - I really appreciate it and I definitely needed it today. I think I'm shaking off my blues. Did a double workout today and that seemed to really help. Also did a bit of thinking and squared a few things away in my mind. Sometimes I need to remember the CBT techniques I've learned that help me rephrase or reframe my thoughts into a more positive (or at least neutral/benign) format.

              Thanks again, sincerely. :huggy

                Pat you rock.
sorry for the quick check in. I'm way busier then I thought I was goijg to be. Hardly any sleep past 3 days, tonight I plan to make up for it.

Hey guys - I had no trouble not taking a drink last night.
I did have to explain 'why,' which was kind of annoying. Even my husband was annoyed that with it.
Silly. No thank you really should be enough.
I think I need to come up with a short answer... not in the mood... I started with 'I just feel better not drinking' but that wasn't enough info.
Anyhow, i had a pleasant evening, slept okay and worked out this morning.
I thought about last night how if I had had two glasses of wine I would have drank more when we got home... etc. And, how happy I was not to be thinking about drinking all the time. A huge relief.

as you know it does get easier, but you cannot give up the fight or it all falls apart.
I am still at the beginning of this struggle... and well aware of it!
