Frances, i cant imagine waking up with a hangover now and i never want to find out again. As i said to someone the other day, i finally feel like my life is coming together after the years of drinking and thats okay. Its a slow process to heal and get finances back to normal and to deal with everyday life but damn it has been worth the journey. Its still getting better day by day.
I am like you, i am so very grateful that al has no control over my life anymore and i am actually living life instead of drowning it.AF free 1st December 2013 - 1st December 2022 - 9 years of freedom

This thread sure got quiet! Ava i know what you mean about never wanting to wake up with a hangover again. I totally agree. And life coming together...it feels so good to really feel 'grown up'.
I came on here to check in - I hope everyone is doing well - - TMH, Steady, everyone - - how's it going?
I'm off to see my son play in a scrimmage at college - he needs dress clothes for a career day next week so I can bring those to him and watch a baseball game - bonus! He said he's 'second string' - I guess that's OK - better than not playing at all!

Hey Frances, here it is 5.30am and i am awake on a Sunday. The birds are chirping (same ones i wanted to shoot in my drinking career) and i am annoyed as i wanted to sleep in but why bother being annoyed. It is quiet, i can have a cuppa, read MWO and start the day or go back to sleep. Sometimes i will rehash what i used to do when i drank and the answer is basically as little as possible. I felt awful and i looked awful and life was awful.
Yesterday i did a huge clean on my garage and it looks great, i was pretty chuffed that i finally tackled it and it wasnt that hard. I do enjoy a good spring clean or the end result.
I was just wondering what scrimmage was, visions of something from Harry Potter and broomsticks.
HOpe you are feeling okay Steady. I am so grateful my anxiety became bearable when i stopped drinking but i feel for you. Sending hugs. They say travel calm helps a tad, i have not tried it though.

Good mornin'! Hi Ava - scrimmage....quidditch....I can see how Harry Potter might come to mind! :happy2:
My son plays baseball for his school's team, and a scrimmage is played like a game but it doesn't count against the team's record and coaches will sometimes try out things like players at different positions, or using the 2nd string players more because it doesn't really matter and they'll get more realistic practice.
I love tackling projects like your garage - feels like such an accomplishment when you are done. Good for you for getting that done!
We had a full day of softball with my daughter yesterday - left the house at 5am and got home at 6:30pm. A lot of driving and 3 games in between!

HI, Everyone:
Checking in. LB, I hope all is well after the flood. I haven't heard anything about it at all in the news. I guess that's typical.
Ava, jealous that you're spring cleaning as we're hunkering down for winter. A good clean is about what we need, too.
Hi, Frances. And HI, Steady. Good to see you pop in. Sorry about the anxiety.

I'm here each day, Pav, but with no one to talk to, I've headed back to the nest. That thread is what this place is all about anyway. It's lovely to think how many people used this thread to get and stay sober, though. Gloamers have a pretty good track record:smile:.

I'm here. I'm ok. Things are getting into a routine here. Many people are struggling to rebuild. But everyone is feeling pretty optimistic. The traffic here on the other hand is still a big problem... but this too shall pass. Or maybe not.
I'm still sober. And so grateful. The Gloamers have been on my mind a lot lately. No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

Yo Gloamers!
good to see you LB, and to hear you're ok. Funny, you popped into my mind today probably around the time of your last post.
