Daughter is on holidays at the moment and seems to be enjoying ferreting in the op-shops/charity/retro stores ? for both fabric and clothes. Yesterday she found a real doozy from the late 1960s/early 1970s ? a floor length dress. Wait ? it is made of blue floral corduroy and the sleeves are in a sheer blue organza ? with corduroy cuffs. Kind of a puritanical ensemble from Valley of the Dolls. Its quite hideous but she plans to make a waistcoat and shorts from it. I was really tired and irritable last night so The Dress provided much laughter and relief. Bad clothes therapy!! :H
Looks like you are back in form Mick. I need to exercise more and I don?t think running around the shops counts ? or does Julie say otherwise? :H
Hey you insulted my ancestors ? the Scots! We can take it. But the lassie should be wearing a tartan bikini.
Patrice ? the missing goggles ? I recall that. My daughter even lost a new shoe at school one day! Now it's the missing mobile phone/sunblock/lip balm ? at least now that she is interested more in clothes she keeps track of them. Well done on the AF week. Did you know that you can borrow e-books from libraries in NZ? Maybe you should join and use your Mum's address - when back home and see if it works.
Bear ? great on keeping up the AF days and building your resolve. Others have given lots of advice and its probably a bit irritating ? but we mean well. I think you need to be careful about catching up with old friends when booze is a big factor ? for the time being. Its freezing cold, late at night and the cava (or any drink) comes out and it's the old nudge to just have one, its Christmas after all, one won?t hurt etc etc and next thing you are being offered a sofa to sleep on. But it sounds from your last post that you have thought this through. If your friends love and care, they just have to understand these changes in you. I faced this recently when I caught up with friends and they later thanked me (yes moi the new soberista?) for a great evening. They still drank but the conversation was really great and I think we parted agreeing to keep more in touch in the future. And to value what matters ? our friendship. We ain?t getting any younger!
Sorry for the prattle ? now I have to dash through greetings to others because I have to go down into the salt mines soon.
Pauly ?great that the troops are on the mend! You be the strong lady that you are and don?t think 40 days. One day at a time! Hope work is not too awful.
Glad you have some sun Lav! Plenty here today if you need it. Greetings and hugs to YahYah.
Det ? hope you are in a positive frame of mind. Your cooking sounds interesting. I did eggplant casserole last night ? lots of tomatoes but I added some evil cheese and breadcrumbs.
Sam ? the old deeds you found sound intriguing. I think getting them framed is a great idea.
SF ? any plans for Christmas? Do the boys get much time off school?
Hi there PPQP! Hope work is not too draining. Here?s some sunshine!:beach:
Sun for you too Narilly ? and great that you are also being a soberista.
Well apart from my life in the salt mines and the other job as a chauffeur and cook for teenagers ? I am having my biennial breast scan. Just the standard one that the government provides for older ladies ? nothing to worry about.
Have a great Thursday and don?t drown in all the Christmas music in the stores. But better than drowning in you-know-what! :H
