    MAE absteroos - Black Friday!:spider:

How are we all today? Tea and coffee but I have not thought about solids yet.

Lav ? ochh! Glad that you did not do any serious damage but be careful on the ice. Winter where I live is a danger zone as there are very steep hills - so I know all about the dangers of ice esp on roads and paths.

Pauly ? stay alive and avoid the sniffles! Not so much chance of ice where you are I guess.

Mick ? you sound busy as ever and I bet that helps to get your metabolism going. I don?t think your body would be in siege mentality already ? its not going to be fooled into thinking that you are about to face a famine over Christmas!:H

Good strategy Bear ? and really glad that its not too stressful at work. Breathe, breathe, breathe!!

Sweet and short from you Sam ? but hi there!

Patrice ? watch out with the ?op shops? in NZ these days. Still lots of finds but the prices have really risen esp in the vintage ones. Its still a lot cheaper than most of the other stores and with vintage of course there is the prospect of something original or a designer piece (that no one else would be seen dead in ! :H) like my daughter?s find.

I watched Mad Men last night ? the episode where Don Draper realises that he is an alcoholic ? of course no such words like that are spoken. Its been interesting to watch how over the years the drinking in MM has slightly shifted ? still booze everywhere but coffee and cake is more likely to be served in the meeting rooms ? at least before midday.

I bet your experience in advertising is slightly different SF!

Hi there also to PPQP, Det and all others to come.

I am having lunch on and a tour of a very large cruise ship today ? have been invited by a friend who is a senior officer. Am taking daughter and her friend ? so it should be fun.

Happy Friday and don?t count the days until Christmas Day ? just stay sober! Best present ever. :day5:

PS ? have you noticed that the advertising on this site has been updated for Christmas? What are your thoughts if any?

Morning TT am on the coffee as well, going to have a toasted white english muffin, cheese flavour with butter - not healthy but yum. Off for a big management meeting today following the new structure, hoping it's casual dress as it's jeans Friday usually

Day 25 here, having festive booze thoughts but not focusing on them, letting them float in and out.
Getting a cold today, quiet evening tonight TV,cats, bit more Christmas decorating and an early night.
May write my Christmas cards tonight and get that done.

Feeling very festive and looking forward to breaking up and having a rest - 7 and a half working days to go! Signed up for a bootcamp starting in Jan - 4 sessions a week and a diet plan, focusing on good carbs - sounds like just what I need to give me a kick start.Happy Friday everyone!

An agricultural salesman is visiting a farm with a view to flogging a new type of combine harvester. "No, sorry son," says the farmer, "my pig takes care of all the harvesting - I have no need for your fancy gizmo." "Could save you money in the long-term" tries the salesman. "No, your combine would never match my pig's productivity - you should see him go - swishing away with that scythe." The salesman is intrigued about this pig and asks to see the creature. The farmer leads the salesman to an enclosure. Standing within - tall and proud - is the most magnificent pig the salesman has ever seen. But the pig has got a wooden leg. "That sure is an impressive pig, sir, but why's he got a wooden leg?" asks the salesman. "This pig is more than 'impressive' mister - I'm sure he's unique! Do you know he can also drive the tractor!?" "Really? But why's he got a wooden leg?" "He drives our children to school and back!! - even helps them with their homework!!" "I'm impressed" admits the salesman, "but why the wooden leg?" "THIS PIG is also a leading authority on organic farming; thanks to him we've managed to branch out, and now our revenue is higher than that of any other farm in this county!! "Yeah, yeah!! You've got one hell of a pig - I can see that by just looking at him - but why does it have a wooden leg!?" Insists the salesman. "Did I mention the publishing deals? This pig's just written a best seller - we're going to be even richer now!!" "Amazing, truly amazing - but why the wooden leg???" The farmer looks admiringly at his pig and then turns to the salesman: Son, with a pig like this - you just DON'T eat him all at once."

A husband and wife were driving down a country lane on their way to visit some friends. They came to a muddy patch in the road and the car became bogged. After a few minutes of trying to get the car out by themselves, they saw a young farmer coming down the lane, driving some oxen before him.

The farmer stopped when he saw the couple in trouble and offered to pull the car out of the mud for $50. The husband accepted and minutes later the car was free. The farmer turned to the husband and said, "You know, you're the tenth car I've helped out of the mud today."

The husband looks around at the fields incredulously and asks the farmer, "When do you have time to plough your land? At night?"

"No," the young farmer replied seriously, "Night is when I put the water in the hole."

Hey all - yes Friday 13th .. a good day for me as my holidays start now
TT - yes when I was back 2 years ago I noticed the prices had increased in the op shops but I love the Salvo's..
Mick - thank you so much for reminding me what to pack - might just double that. Flying from Singapore direct to Chch where the family are.. looking forward to family, friends and seeing how the rebuild is going
Had my second test today and passed.. that's 2 times this week I have been around people drinking ( although very moderately, and normally) First time was earlier in the week when my friend came around with her 2 beers and then today, end of work and went to a lovely new bar directly facing the water ( It's the South China Sea.. so we are not talking pristine!!) and i had a soda and then a macchiato as it was still afternoon...I'm not intentionally putting myself through these tests but I have to be realistic because it is the time of year it is, and some people are able to drink normally. I will be faced with this over my holiday and can't hide from it. I would love to be able to hide for 3 months but I can't..Today made me really happy to be able to socialise with the colleagues I really like and not drink.. although like I say it was afternoon so no one was planning on getting hammered and there were others drinking Sprite etc. Starting to slowly realise that my problem was the drinking alone at home.. not so much the going out. For me this feels quite liberating because when in the past i have stopped booze for longish periods I would stay at home and get super lonely
Hope you all have a great MAE!

              MAE ALL...

TT...thanks for the kickoff. Nope didn't notice the advertising till you said something. :H

Bear...you're even sounding festive. Good on you realizing "a crave is just a wave".

Mick...enjoy your swim. The Post Scam is interesting, I always feel sorry for seniors when these things strike.

Sam...that clip fits me to a T. I am an extreme worrier but these days it's not followed by AL induced anxiety.

Lav...glad your slip was just that "a slip". :H Hope you're mending fast.

Pat...sounds like you're getting the hang of it. I was an at home drinker too. The loneliness was crippling. Remember nothing changes if nothing changes.

Well deep freeze hit again last night so will need more time to thaw the car this morning. Have a great AF Friday all and all to come....PPQP

Mick, your pig joke reminds me of another one:
Insurance salesman stops at a farmer's house. He meets the farmer's wife at the door. He asks for the farmer as he wants to talk to him about insurance. "He's around back feeding the pig, walk with me and I'll take you to him." They walk around to the back of the house and there's the farmer holding the pig up to the apple tree, letting him eat the apples. The salesman shakes his head and exclaims "What are you doing???!!!" Farmer replies "I'm feeding the pig." Salesman says" not only is this the dumbest thing I've ever seen, it is a complete waste of time." Farmer replies "what's time to a pig?"

                      Evening Abbers,

                      What a freaking long day & a half :H
My grandsons ended up spending the night (last night) because their Mom didn't get here until after midnight - was delayed due to a school project & long commute. They hung around all day today & left just before dinner - geez :H
I ended up dragging EB along with me on a trip to the post office & a visit to the 'car doctor' to have an oil change. He was actually good company. Then YB showed up to repair a broken toilet so I fed him dinner :H
Yes, my life is that exciting!

Patrice, you are strengthening your AF muscles everyday - good for you!
I hope your trip is wonderful.

Hi PQ of the frozen north - bless you!
Did we see narilly today? Hope she's OK & not frozen!

Greetings Sam. SL & anyone else dropping by!
                      I am ready for a great night's sleep - here's hoping!

                      Snow tomorrow - oh joy!
