Almost time for Santa but we wont be leaving any AL for him. Maybe some chocolate. No walks today as it was mega wet. Reading and chilling.

Sf ...your post yesterday was really interesting to read..as with your gramps ..it was the stroke that made me see sense ...apparently they had to a bit of work on me to sort me out and I thought one day ...why am I screwing my life up when these people gave their time to save me? sounds dramatic I know but somewhere for everyone there is a trigger ...you have a great Christmas

Mae everybody,actually Mick my freezer does have a light haha,its 6 a.m here and im gonna run to the grocery store before work,i sure as heck am not stopping after it will be a madhouse! i also need batteries for various things i bought,didnt bother checking what kind before i wrapped everything so im just gonna send hubs to the dollar store later to buy an assortment of each,,hope everybody has a wonderful christmas eve,i actually enjoy this day more than real christmas,its the anticipation! hugs to all of my abbin friends

Happy Christmas Eve! Everything is done....now trying to stay awake while the kids go to sleep so that I can put out all the presents.

Had a lovely day....church (a new one that is much more welcoming to non-saved people), out to dinner, made gingerbread houses and I ate too many cookies!

Mick...my grandfather's stroke was a massive one. He had to relearn to swallow, eat, walk and just about everything. I don't think he ever attributed the stroke to his drinking....as, strokes run heavy in our family....so I am not sure I could even say it had anything to do with it. He still always had beer in the house after his recovery and would sip on them....but, could not drink like he did in the past because of the meds.

For me he is an example of how it can never occur to someone to quit drinking. But, when he did...I got to see the "real" him. He was always a happy drinker, but I did not see the loving and caring person he truly was until after the stroke and the booze was gone. Booze was certainly masking the true person that I am.....and that is why I chose his birthday. I loved him dearly, but never got to really know him until the last 10 years of his life.

I am sure there are a lot of people in my life who are saying the same thing about me. Many don't know that the booze is gone....but, have mentioned how much calmer I am these days. I also let people beyond that brick wall I created while trying to hide the extent of my drinking.

I am so excited for Christmas.....this is probably the last year for Santa. Part of me is really glad to see him go.....freaking Santa is a lot of work. But I am ever grateful to be sober. Sometimes I forget what a miracle that is....
