SF, that is an excellent post that would be a good addition to the toolbox. It might disappear in a daily thread.

My go-to image is of riding a bike. The trained brain never forgets how to do that or how much it loves alcohol.

It is great to hear how well you are doing. :h NS

Riding a Bike- what a great way to think about it NS.

For me it helps to create new habits and reinforce them over and over till they replace all the old AL ones.

What a lovely post Sun, and what an amazing person you sound now....so happy. I am so pleased.

As you say those grooves are there but thankfully become few and far between as the months roll on.

I occasionally get a twinge when hungry ( I used to drink in the evenings instead of eating) but it now makes me laugh and is gone as quickly as it came.

As I type I can hear the neighbours filling their recycle.....the clatter of bottles is the soundtrack of monday. It has only just hit me that the majority of their recycle is alcohol containers as mine used to be.

        So glad to be free.

Thanks to everyone on the post.

Kuya it is good to have you back....you were very much missed. Liquid dinners? Had those for years....certainly did not want anything to lower my alcohol levels and I needed room for all that liquid.....of course I was always peeing to make more room. I certainly enjoy eating real food in the evenings again.

NS...the riding the bike analogy certainly stuck with me. The only difference I see is that when I encounter a circumstance and overcome it without al....it usually doesn't rear it's ugly head in that same event again. But, I do know if I remotely thought of drinking again it would be like riding a bike.

I also liked Tess's analogy that if I were to ever question if I was cured...check to see if my eyes are still blue. If they are still blue....I can count on the fact that I am not cured
