Mick – sorry you are not so well. Its quite normal to feel weird and flat after a long haul flight. Its not just the coming home after a holiday – it's the flight and time zones. Best thing is to rest when you can but get back into your home routine – and not to worry if you feel ghastly for several days. Believe me, us Kiwis are experts on punishing travelling. I didn't go backpacking in Vietnam or Cambodia but I was in Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) in the 1980s.
Hi there Yah. Don't isolate yourself too much! The mention of your daughter storing stuff reminded me that my sister was the one that threw much of my personal stuff out that I had stored at my Mum’s place. I lost clothes as well as school certificates and such like. Mum was still alive too. I talked to my partner about this today and he perceptively said that my sister has problems dealing with the past. I am very different - I value memories even if they are painful and I don’t think its healthy to just cut them out. It would be fine if she did this with her own stuff but it's the way she will try to do it with others that's annoying. The very worst thing she did was dispose of my mother’s ashes (cremains) without consulting me – I had promised Mum that I would scatter them from a plane. Oh well, I have Mum’s few written memoirs and shall protect them and pass them on to my daughter! Her life was painful and sad but she wrote well about this - I know my sister would just destroy the writing. I must scan it also and preserve it via digital means as well.
people do have to eventually make room – so this is not meant as a criticism of parents who have to put the hard word on their offspring!
Det – hope you enjoy the sword thing and your curry.
Well Lav –you must be getting excited about your anniversary – I hope you do something fun to celebrate! I intend to come to the party!
SF – very interesting how you live in an apartment. Its not at all the norm over here. In fact there are very few apartments suitable for families here.
SL – almost another month of you being AF. I hope its going OK with school this week.
Sam – you seem to have been quiet. Hope you are OK.
Pauly – how’s the week going after Paddy’s Day?
PPQP - good plan to have a long weekend. Make sure you get that Me time.
Well I better return to the Salt Mines - its a lovely sunny day outside but I can only enjoy it through the windows today!
Have a great sober Wednesday one and all.
