Marvelous May AF ~ Week 1

Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life.
    ~Marilu Henner

Welcome to May! I feel like we have turned a corner somehow!

Papmom, I knew you would come up with a plan. Now that you have a plan you surely must feel better and less stressed.:l That's fantastic news to have your nutritionist telling you you need to eat more! That's not something anyone has ever said to me!:H

Lav, I too think about down-sizing, but I just love our home and can't bear the thought of leaving it. We will surely have to one day as it is a lot of work to maintain.

Star, Did you listen to the Bubble Hour with Dr. John Kelly as a special guest? It was about the science of addiction and how the brain is affected by alcohol and that society needs to get rid of the stigma surrounding it because that keeps so many people from seeking help. I learned so much from listening to that one.

Thanks to all for the birthday greetings. I did have a very nice birthday and felt loved.
    Dill

Marvelous May AF ~ Week 1

    Hello all!

Star - it looks like you are on, so I'm posting quick to say hi -- I had started to read back through week 4, but will do that now after posting.

I did see in passing that it was your Birthday, Dill! Happy belated! I hope that your day was happy and full of love.

Well, I did it! We got rained out of 1 day (40- 50 mile an hour winds and rain), and sadly that was the day to round Land's End, but I figure that just gives me a reason to return and finish that portion. (Plus, two people were air-lifted from there the day before because of a cliff accident, so...) The hiking was was very hard going much of the time, but the training that I had managed really helped. We traveled for 22 hours, ate dinner and fell into bed, and started walking the next morning - not ideal, but we coped. It turns out that the first day covered territory that is considered the hardest part of the entire SW coastal walk! Treacherous rocks and constant sheer hike up, sheer hike down, repeat and repeat. But to walk along that coast (when we stopped and took a breather) was really amazing. I promise to post pictures. The other days were similar, but not quite as alarming, (except for a few hours at the very end - 18 inches from the drop-off to the sea!) The 10 mile day we faced a 25/mi/hr wind head-on, and that was trying. But the wildflowers, the ancient stones, the pubs, the wonderful meditation of one foot in front of another for hours at a time - really a memorable experience.

Now it's just a matter of making time here to do the same...maybe I have finally found the balance I have been looking for all this time.

Well, now off to figure out how to step back into the work pile I left! I hope all have a beautiful spring day, as it promises to be here. I need to clean out around my plants at the very least today...that will be some outside time.

Missed you all, and thought of you so often, but connectivity was non-existent, so I'm glad to be back on the boards...cheers!

Welcome back, Cyn! And WELL DONE!:goodjob:

I am really just popping in here to direct you to our other thread. Lav and I both started a thread at the same time so we have been using hers instead of this one. Look for "Magical" in the title. I'll see you over there!
