Have to take an all day surveying class as a continuing my edumacation. Used to not be required but seems somebody somewhere decided surveyors weren't poor enough and felt the need to gouge them a bit more. Class cost around 300.00 for 8 hours of boredom. One year we did one that was pretty interesting using old compasses and chains. We had to use tables that were used in the day and compute our closing (how close we came from start to finish) and acreage. That was 4 hours class, break, 2 hours field, then back to class. Always figured in the mountains the terrain made it difficult to have really good accuracy, then you got magnetic attraction of the rocks and let us not forget, the ever present whiskey barrel that was brought along.
Well off and packing. Hope everyone is shaking the acorns.
