Come Fly in July! ~ on AF wings

Oh, Star - one other thing - about life and feeling authentic, etc. I just got a wonder JOT (Just one Thing) from Rick Hansen. Are you on his list? The name of this one is "Find your own way", and I thought it was terrific. Good timing for me to hear the message, that's for sure.

    Take care!

Come Fly in July! ~ on AF wings

      Good Evening friends,

Lav, are you OK? I surely hope you have that virus on the run! Hope you check in soon and let us know how you are feeling.:l

Cyn, yes, I did know about the peafowl because I read a little bit about O'Connor when I started looking for her books. She died at a fairly young age of Lupus, did you know that? I think she was only 39 when she died.

Papmom, I like your approach to working up to the 5k. I tried a few years ago to get there following one of those "gradual" approaches and it was not any where near gradual enough for me! I gave up. I have never been a distance runner. I don't know if I even can do such a thing at my age. I think I've missed that train! But, definitely I think it is a good idea for you to take a longer time to get to your goal. It is a very healthy approach. I bet you have more stamina than I ever did because I don't think you could run the dogs through their courses if you didn't! That takes great effort.

Star, this weather has been absolutely heavenly! Well done on all the decluttering! It is a gift for your children for sure! I wonder tho if you will be careful not to re-accumulate. It happens so easily and gradually. You'll have to addopt a certain kind of approach to avoid it. Easy to say, hard to do!

I've been shifting my rooms around since I have them back. I completely emptied one and just put it back the way I wanted it. Now I am going to empty antother and do the same thing. I am only putting things back that I actually need/use. The rest goes! Boy it feels good!

Bon reve rose! (Still miss LadyBirdHeart and think of her fondly!)
      Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Come Fly in July! ~ on AF wings

I'm finally getting a moment to check in - geez!

Daughter & granddaughter came for a visit yesterday & ended up staying overnight. They are staying tonight as well. I also had my grandsons all day, busy, busy. No such thing as real sick time for me
The respiratory symptoms are improving but the joint pain is a beast! My left foot is slightly swollen on the top of the foot - not the ankle. It's all very strange

Had those big storms last night so today's weather was quite a bit improved. Hope it lasts for a few days.

Star, you are clipping right along with everything! Bet you never knew you could handle so much, right? I am very happy for you!

Papmom, hope you did OK with the storms!

Cyn, you are another busy one! I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you

Dill, happy re-arranging, sounds like fun! Love getting rid of the extra stuff too.
I see LBH on Facebook frequently - she seems happy

OK, I'll check back in when I can!!
        Be well everyone!

          Good morning to all...

Lav, hope you are feeling better. The swollen foot symptom is weird. Have fun with your family.

Dill, I will be really careful not to fill my house up with junk again. I cleaned out a dresser yesterday, finally, and realize I don't have to keep paperwork as much. The next big closet will not be as bad, and then my clothes to go through. I have to dress professionally for this job so will get a few blouses and get rid of alot of my casual stuff that I have not worn in the last year. Good to hear you are decluttering and rearranging just to get things done. Good for you, it does feel good. The weather is heavenly, glad you are enjoying it too.

Cyn, great advice on the refrigerator. I have a young friend coming over who just bought a house, so if I can't sell it to them, then I will call Habitat to Humanity. All the moving responsibilities are alot to handle. I am grateful I have time as my job winds down to take care of everything. Thanks for sharing the electrical problem when you sold your last house. I realize the inspectors are looking for things to fix and it is really annoying. Especially when there are not problems with anything. But, I will go with the flow and take care of whatever I need to.

Today lots of cleaning up again and beginning work on the shed. This is certainly a process.

            Good evening friends,

Daughter & granddaughter on their way home now. I am tired but happy
Still treating cold symptoms & getting tired of all that. I'm going to need cough syrup by the gallon soon. The joint pain & swelling persists but I'm getting around
Thought about the things I am grateful for today & that helped

Hope your day was productive Star!
Greetings to Dill, Cyn & Papmom!!!

Hello all - hope you all are having a good evening.

Goodness Lav, what a time you've had of it. I really think this is the same bug HB and I battled. He had foot symptoms as well, which we worried about because he had broken that foot a few years ago. But it all went away eventually. Wishing you quick healing. Can your stomach stand Oil of Oregano? That helped both of us.

Star, hope your shed experience was OK! Yesterday I found a huge hornet's nest hidden up above my garage, under a portico. I called the pest guy pronto, and bless him he came today and put on his bee suit and took care of it. Apparently it was the scary, bad hornets that can actually become agressive. I'm grateful that I saw it before I left - it was already 2/3 the size of a football, I can't imagine what it would have looked like in 3 weeks, or who would have gotten bitten! Be careful when you're going through things like sheds - poke things with a stick first!

Dill, I love the idea of taking everything out and only putting back what you absolutely love and need. That's Nirvana!

Pap - hope you are OK - at least we have this beautiful weather, eh?

Lav - now that I'm (sort of) on FB, I'll have to find LBH. So good to know that she's happy. I'll try to take a look at FB this weekend; I'm missing a big hi-school reunion but I should be able to see pics and connect with people that way.
Wishing all a good Friday night and weekend to come --

                Good Morning Friends,

Star, what is the actual date of your move? I am very impressed by all you are accomplishing right now! So much is happening in your life in such a short time. What a huge shift of gears!

Cyn, so great you got that hornet's nest taken care of! That must have been scary! I saw a news story the other day showing video of a bear trying to get into a trash container. It was actually a test of the container. An agency in Colorado is developing a "bear-proof trash can" because bears mauling cans and dumping the contents is a common problem there. Anyway, the news story immediately made me think of you!

Lav, I have slacked off on thaking time to think of all I am grateful for. I am glad you mentioned that. I want to make it part of my nightly routine. I will work on that. There is an Ignatian excercise called "the Examen" that basically has one do just that but in a structured manner. I learned of it recently from some thread on this website. I think in the What We Believe section. I was reminded of it while reading that memoir Star recommended. It's funny I never heard of it since all my brother's went to St. Igantious! LOL! Anyway, if you're curious, here's a link:

                Hello Papmom!

We are driving to Indianapolis today to visit a friend and attend a birthday party for a 2 year old. It will be a 2 hour drive each way so lots of crochet time! Have a great AF Saturday everyone!

Come Fly in July! ~ on AF wings

                  Good morning to all...

Boy oh Boy, did we have a busy day yesterday. Cleaned out our extra fridge and that was a job. Then the shed. Had my friend come over and she is thinking about some of our stuff, and will let me know. Exhausted from all the work.

Dill, we are moving the second week of August. My new job starts the end of August, so I will have time to settle my things and get to know the area. Lots of anxiety, then I am OK. I think a time of change like this is a time for lots of deep breathing, awareness of thoughts, eating and sleeping well to keep healthy. Have fun on your trip. I loved the spiritual exercises you describe and found that part of the book fascinating. I think as a Catholic, you are taught from a very young age to examine your thoughts and behaviors daily, related to confession. It can be a good thing. I will look at the link you shared. Thanks.

Lav, take care of yourself today. Hello to Cyn and Pap.

Good morning friends & Happy Saturday

It's all dark & miserable looking here but I'm just going to ignore that

Cyn, I have never actually tried oil of oregano but have been thinking about it lately. I'd love to add something new to my home remedy arsenal
Glad you were able to get rid of that hornet's nest quickly!!!!
By all mean - take a little time to cruise on FB, you'll never know who you'll find there

Dill, hope you have a nice drive today & miss the weather. A birthday party for a two year old can be fun & messy :H
I haven't heard of the Daily Examen either. I'll explore that link a little more later, thanks.

Star, you are moving right along, good for you!!!
I hope you can sneak a little R&R into your weekend too.

I haven't made any plans for the weekend. I hope to just get some chill time. I have a big job to start Monday morning that will keep me busy most of next week.
Greetings to Papmom, hope all is well with you!

Have a great AF Saturday everyone!

                      Good morning everyone...

Dill, hope the birthday party was fun! Did your grandchildren go? Checked out the website you recommended and found lots of fascinating reading material. Thanks so much.

Cyn, hornets nests are scary, I have had to take care of a few in my time, but never up so high. Good for you for getting a professional out to exterminate the next.. Hope you have a good weekend.

Lav, hope you start feeling alot better. Having time to yourself can be helpful. I was alone for most of yesterday and just rested, I have been overwhelmed for months now. I needed a day to just lay around, rest, and read. Today I will take care of business again. What does oil of oregano do and how do you take it? Is it like a tonic?

Hi Pap, hope to hear from you soon, know you are so busy.

                      Have a good Sunday.

                        Good morning friends,

Dark & damp again this morning although yesterday did end up turning nice. Big storms due to arrive this evening.

Star, a day off sounds nice
                        Good to look after #1!
Oil of oregano has been shown to help with a multitude of things including respiratory infections. I will remember to pick some up one of these days.

Come Fly in July! ~ on AF wings

                          Morning all!

Lots of on-again-off-again rain passing through - sometimes with a bit of a blow and sheets of rain coming down. It reminded me to put out the garbage cans (no longer used for garbage) under the gutters on the front of the house - something's wrong with a portion of the gutters, and it the rain really pours, on part overflows and it becomes a pond right by the foundation of the house. Not nice. So, for the next 3 weeks, the neighbors will have to look at 3 garbage cans lined up under the bay window, and the dog sitter will have to empty them after a big rain.

Star - good for you to grab a bit of rest. You'll need it going into these next weeks. The great thing about moves is that they happen, and then you're done. You're almost to the finish line, girl! Take care of yourself! Oil of Oregano is not cooking oregano. It's a medicinal herb that is very powerful for the immune system (as Lav mentioned, particularly for respiratory things). HB and I have used it for the past few years, and it works extremely well for us. I recommend getting the capsule version: I like Gaiam the best, the pills are easiest to swallow. NOTE: take it with food. It is too strong for some people's stomach, so just start with one - on a full stomach. I take it at the first sign of anything; scratchy throat, tiny drip from the nose, and then take it for a few days. Normally that keeps any bugs at bay. I got really sick earlier this spring, and it was because I didn't start soon enough, and didn't keep on it for enough days. Good luck, I hope it works for you!

Lav - hope you are feeling better. See above re: Oil Oregano. Maybe it wil kick out the end of whatever you have!

Dill - there was no question about getting an exterminator for the hornets. I am extremely allergic to bees and wasps, and realized that I don't have an epi-pen with me anymore. Called my doc to get one pronto! The nest was about the size of a football, and in doing research I found that it was inhabited by the 'bad boys' of hornets - the baldfaced hornets. They are aggressive, (especially in the heat and in August) and the exterminator told me that 8 stings can put a normal person in the hospital - he put his whole 'bee' suit on to take care of them. (I didn't watch him do it - too unnerving, I read that there can be up to 10,000 hornets in residence in a nest that size. Eeeek!) Anyway, so glad that I saw it, and that it's gone now.

SD came for the weekend, but just took off, so it's time for me to make hay! Off to work...

Hi Pap - wishing all a great AF Sunday.

Hello Friends, Late check in for me.

I had a very good trip yesterday and enjoyed the party very much. He was one lucky little 2 year old with lots of loving family and he got lots of great gifts. All the other little ones there eagerly helped him to open them! It was total chaos for a time, but lots of fun to watch!

Cyn, I googled the bald faced hornet and saw the images. That is one mean looking insect! Glad you had them safely removed! On a related subject, have you ever heard of bee sting therapy? My SIL has an autoimmune desease that is not successfully treatable by conventional medicines. She has been subjecting herself weekly to about 20 bee stings to treat it. When she went back to see her doc the doc was amazed at how well he was doing and altho he couldn't endorse the bee sting therapy, he said, "Keep doing whatever it is you're doing!"

Lav, are you feeling better? How about the joint pain and the swelling?

Star, no my grandkids did not go with us. They stayed home with their Dad but he did take them to visit with their mom for awhile. I"m glad you liked the Ignatian the website. I really like it too. I'm also glad you gave yourself a day of rest.:l

July is coming to a close. Be thinking of an August name.

                              Good morning to all...

Sometimes Mondays and Sunday nights are tough for me. This happened last night and yesterday.

Cyn, thanks for your encouragement, as the time comes closer to move, the pressure is on. And yet, things are moving along. We sold some furniture and decorations, yard stuff and other miscellaneous things to my friends who are young and need stuff. They are accumulating, while we are decluttering. We just moved another couch into our living room. It looks OK for a week or two. I have to make a daily list of things to do, then do them!!! Oil of Oregano sounds interesting, thanks for giving me that info. Those hornets sounded really scary. Yikes, glad they are gone.

Dill, what a fun day, and a road trip is always fun. Your son is doing well and hopefully the family will heal and get back together if that is meant to be. The day of rest helped me alot. Last week of work and lots to do there too. Thinking about August names.

Lav, hope you are feeling better. You have had really difficult weather. The temp here has dropped about 10 degrees and will be cool all week again. I like the cooler weather, low 70s are perfect.

Hello to Papmom. To all, have a great Monday.

                                Good Monday morning friends

Had some big storms roll thru here overnight but now the sun is up, yay! It's in the mid-sixties at the moment, nice

Star, glad you were able to sell some stuff this weekend. Reminds me of the huge yard sale we had before moving here! Keep your thoughts in the positive zone, you are doing absolutely great

Dill, nice that you enjoyed your party & road trip.
I remember having a patient many years ago who used bee venom therapy to treat her MS symptoms at home. She was in the hospital for another reason & missed the treatment. She tried to get permission to have her bees brought in to her but the answer was NO! That freaked me out more than just a little There was no way I wanted the responsibility for protecting the rest of the patients from escaped bees!

                                Cyn, get your EpiPen!!!
Glad you had that nest removed successfully

My respiratory symptoms are pretty much gone now. The lingering pain & swelling in my is annoying. I picked up an elastic ankle support yesterday & wore it upside down to help squeeze the fluid out of my foot & it helped. I guess I'm going to have to go with that for now. I am skipping Curves again & just going to get started with a new embroidery job this week.

Greetings to Papmom! Did the storms get you too last night?

Have a great AF Monday everyone!
